Has anyone ever purchased or used Walt Disney World & Orlando for Dummies? I was thinking about buying it to go with my Official and Unofficial Guides. Any thoughts? What about PassPorter? Would that be a useful resource or does it pretty much repeat all the information in other guide books? Any thoughts?

I bought 4 different books

WDW and Orlando for DUmmies
The Unofficial Guide
Fodors WDW with Kids
The Cheapskates Guide to WDW

I think they all offer something. However, if you can only get one, I would get the Unofficial Guide. It is the most complete. Otherwise, I dont think it hurts to have more than one.

And I love them both! UOG has a lot more info. The PassPorter (to me) is more of a book to record your plans, store your paper/tickets and have as a keepsake of your trip. It does have a mini review of each ride with comments from Dave Marx's daughter. Oh, and I love the color maps of each park in the PassPorter!

HTH!

Other than the UG, I think the Dis is all you need for your trip:earsboy:

I have a few guides including the dummies guide but my favorite is the deluxe passporter!! It has got all the info you need, you can download updates and use at is a journal!!! I think its value for money!:teeth:

I'm currently reading WDW For Dummies, the Unofficial Guide, A Discovery Book on Disney, Birnbaum's guide for adults and the kids one also. These books have been very helpful, but not as much as the boards here and TourGuideMike. We leave for our first trip in 24 days!!!!

Good Luck!!!

I would definitely say UG has all the info you need! but we also have the deluxe passporter as a kind of dayplanner/ticketholder.:teeth: plus it's got info about all the rides.

For sure I'm the minority here, I don't like UOG at all, too much personal views being injected ito the book. More than half of them (the personal views and feedbacks) are utterly useless to me.

I like the Birmbaum OG better (although I have to admit there are about 20 pages of useful additional info available in the UOG that's not available in BOG).

Birnmaum's is the best!!!!!!!!! I buy one every year that I go. It has helped me plan out my trips down to the minute. (I'm a teeny bit obessive in the planning department)
