so we had booked the Hampton inn for two days pre cruise this July. Now my partner is finding out that the wilderness lodge is $50 a night more

I told him if we go there he's going to be tempted to go to the parks. He says he won't and that we can go resort hopping and Disney springs

Of course breakfast at the Hampton is included, paid at Disney with Disney prices

So would you do a two night stay without going to the parks?

Well, on the one hand Wilderness Lodge has a fantastic pool to hang out at as well as other fun activities. It will be hot in July...which is tomorrow (wow, just looked at my calendar) So, if you decided to do a Wilderness stay, you could feasibly hang out at the pool and resort hop for a couple of days. Disney Springs is really hot as well, not much shade in the new area of the Springs, but lots of air conditioned shops, so that might work too.

On the other hand , Cocoa Beach is pretty awesome and lots of fun. You would definitely have a couple of good beach days as well as the pool at the hotel. If you felt like doing something other than that, there is the Kennedy Space Center near by as well as Brevard Zoo.

The free breakfast is one less meal to pay for which is always a bonus and the pricing for food at the beach is not nearly as much as food at Disney resorts or the parks/Disney Springs.

I would go for the beach. :)

I originally thought on our arrival day we could hit up disney world, I *need* stuff from Basin White over at the Grand, and then thought we could do disney springs, possibly see Wishes from the Poly and then head out to Hampton, but that's a lot of driving now that I think of it. Maybe the wilderness would be better. I don't really enjoy "beaches" unless I am under some serious shade (I'm strange I know, I today just put a new liner in my pool that I only go in when the sun has gone down)

Out of all the hotels I've stayed at, the Hampton beds are the best.

We are vacationing at the world in October though so I don't need to go now I guess.

I probably could stretch out my *need* for basin till october

If you don't do well with beaches, then definitely stay at WL :) It is really bright on the beach in July, to the point where umbrellas or tents are the norm out there.

I don't think it would be too much to stay first night at WDW and then drive over to Cocoa the next day before you cruise. You are going to have to drive out there anyway. It is about an hour drive from WDW to the PC terminal. Much closer if you stay at Hampton on embarkation morning :)

Then you could have the best of both.

Either choice would be awesome. I would lean towards the beach, because I am a beach person. But the WL is really a blast also. There is definitely a lot to do around wdw that does not involve going to the parks. Mini golf is my personal favorite and we love disney springs and the boardwalk area.
