Making my first ever drive to WDW from Connecticut this week. Talk to many guests to gather information but any last minute tips for a first time trip to WDW by car. Thanks in advance!

If you don't have to stop don't. Everytime you stop it takes on average 30 min. Do this more the 10 times and you have wasted 5hr of drive time.

We have found that when we stop for gas everyone is going to go to the bathroom. One pumps gas the rest to bathroom the first one done pays for the gas while the gas pumper goes. Down to a sience.

We only stopped 3 times last year and it is 1000 mile trip. We made it WDW in 14 hrs... I understand if you may have to stop a little more than that but it was great not to have to.

We just got back from driving to WDW from SW Michigan. Agree that you should keep bathroom and gas stops short ... but we tend to stop whenever anyone has to go without any pressure of "We just stopped!!! We don't want to stop again so soon!!!" Even if someone doesn't think they have to go, it is amazing how cramped up you can get from sitting for a couple of hours!

We keep a cooler and food accessible in the van so don't make any restaurant stops.

We ALWAYS make sure we have had a bathroom stop and a full (or mostly full) tank of gas before going through any large cities. You never know when you are going to get stuck in traffic (1-1/2 hrs to get through Nashville).

Have a good time and try to keep to a reasonable speed so you don't end up with a police stop -- which would really put you behind schedule!!!

Hi Buzz,
I live in Southeastern Ohio and have made the trip many times,
The best advice I can give is to make the drive part of your vacation instead of a mad rush to make Florida.
Everyone will be happier and in a much better mood if while still keeping the ultimate goal in site you leave some time for a stop over at any place that looks fun.
We always cut over to the coast for a while just to be able to drive along the ocean, and maybe stop to gat our feet wet.
Well anyway just one persons opinion.
Good luck and have a great trip

Good tip about the breaks!
Also, a tv/vcr works wonders.
