ok so a few things, i have found everything (but waiting til later tonight to officially book. myself and my gf are going from nj to disney for my birthday and it is a very budget vacation. i have found flights (round trip from newark to orlando), park tix (5 days base), hotel and rental car and all for roughly 1400 dollars. does this number sound about right for an off property vacation for 2?

and more so, i was wondering if anyone knew about typical weather patterns for that time of year. if anyone knew about which parks to ideally go to on what days and if there were any major refurbs during that period.

thank you for anyone who responds to this and any and all feedback and/or tips would be MUCH appreciated:) thanx a bunch:)

I found non-stop air-fare Newark to Orlando for $398 for 2. 5 day base tickets are $456 each = $912. So yes that sounds good.

If staying on property you can use Magical Express and don't need the car and Disney is also offering free dining packages during the time you will be here. I would just double check a Disney package. It might be a little more, but if it includes dining and extra magic hours, you might find that it is worth it.

You should bring a sweatshirt and jeans for evening. It may or may not be down in the 60's. Days probably in the low-mid 80's, but upper 70's also possible. It is probably the most unpredictable time of year. Just check the 10 day forecast before you do your final packing.

Plan you DHS day on a day that is offering Fantasmic. It is only 2 nights a week. You can get all the schedules for fireworks and parades online. Do not go to MK on a day that has MNSSHP. The park will close at 7pm.

It you have specific questions, let me know and I will try to answer.

Have a wonderful visit!:yay:

I'd price out both a value resort and a moderate resort. (The free dining is only at the moderate, you get a 30% discount at the value.) We're doing a 10 day stay, and it was actually less expensive to get the free dining at a moderate resort. Remember, you WILL need to eat while you're there, so you're going to spend money on food either way. The basic dining plan will get you five nice table-service meals. (You'll want to make reservations immediately, though, trust me, they're filling up fast, we're down there Oct 22 - Nov 2.)

Staying at a resort means no car rental (LOVE :lovestruc Magical Express! And the transportation system, while often crowded, gets you where you want to go.), and the meal plan means you don't have to worry about affording food AND souvenirs.

I would price out what the difference is between staying off property and renting a car vs. staying on site and not renting a car.

Check out www.mousesavers.com for discounts in and around Disney.

Is a 5 day ticket enough? Looks like you'll be there for 6 fulls days plus your travel days. It's only a few extra dollars per ticket to go from 5-6 and then a few extra from 6-7.

Another thing to consider, if you stay on-site, you don't have to pay for parking at the parks. The value resorts are offering the free Quick Service Dining Plan during this time. It might be worth checking out.

Have fun planning!

Check white plains, NY for airfare, we got $59 each way, direct flight on Jetblue in October

Did you buy your tix yet, because Undercover Tourist has 5 and 6 day MYW base tickets for $232 apiece. This includes tax and shipping (shipping is free and tax is included in their up front price) so these are cheaper than 4 day base tickets from the Disney site. :woohoo:

we are only doing 5 days at the parks and going to universal for a day or 2 as well. and as for white plains, i think that is a bit to far for us. newark is probably what we will go with. i found flights for about 400ish roundtrip for us both. the toosups now are pretty much the hotel and the car.
