WDW needs haunted mansion HOLIDAY!!

You know, the Nightmare overlay and the SM overlay are really cool. And given how quick the resorts can get up their X-mas decor, and the parks can do the decor, it really shouldn't be too hard to do it, if Disney actually hustled their butts. :rotfl:

Would HM go down for a bit? Sure. As a WDW local, my trips to DL were a "once in a lifetime" trips. I have only seen the overlay once and the actual ride once, otherwise HM was down for the holiday overlay. Did I whine and moan? Yeah, but I put on my big girl pants and got over it. It was not a really big deal and there were plenty of other cool things to do. I understood that HM has to go down for the overlay.

Think about this way: not all the rides can be open all the time just because you are having your "magical once in a lifetime vacation". Sometimes they need to go down for fixes and such. Having an overlay placed on it is no different.

And yeah, WDW has locals!! Maybe less than DL does, but there are STILL locals.

Actually, having an overlay installed is very different from having maintenance done.

I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour last year and one of the guests asked our tour guide about this. He told them that the overlay will probably never come to WDW for the following reasons...

1. As previously stated, DL attracts more locals while WDW attracts many, many more first timers.
2. When HM goes down for refurbishment they get more guest complaints/inquiries than at any other time. Therefore, they are not willing to close it for the month needed to install/remove the overlay.

I am with those who would prefer that the overlay not come to WDW. I like that there are differences in the parks and hope that never changes.

Now, all that said, did you know that Jack Skellington is actually in WDW's HM...every day, not just at Christmas? If you watch the aging portrait over the fireplace you will see him. Once the portrait gets to it's skeletal version look just between where the eyebrows would be. You will see a very faint Jack. The Imagineers did this as an homage to the DL holiday version.

Halloween like Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, the 4th of July is one... ONE specific day. I can see doing the special events for a little more than 1 day (wouldn't be worth it to decorate the parks, make special food or plan special parades) but having MNSSHP start September 1st in ridiculous IMHO. :sad2:

and to the post of hating Christmas music in the parks. Disney celebrates CHRISTMAS its even Mickeys very merry christmas party so yeah I'm proud they play christmas music for Christmas season. it makes the trip more enjoyable.

Since I brought up the music I assume this is directed at me.

I have very specific memories of WDW going back to when I was 16. To me the music that WDW plays tells me I'm at WDW. Every park and every land/section has it own unique sound.

We did our very first Xmas trip last year at almost this exact time, the last full week before. When I got the park I was hearing the exact same music that's played at every mall at this time and made it less magical.
