WDW Memory Card Problem

Hi everyone,

well will be at WDW for our very first time im May... and I´m sure...
our two memory cards will not be enough...
so... does anyone has an idea, how we can burn or save our pics on the trip?
Are there computers maybe at DisneyQuest?
Or anything else thats possible???

You can have your pics downloaded to CD at the camera shops in all 4 theme parks. Cost is $12.99 per CD, limit 120 pics per CD.

There are also self-service download machines in the MK and MGM camera shops that do exactly the same thing, but you control it yourself. If you are not technically adept, the MK and MGM camera shops still do it for you if you prefer.

If you have a car, a better option is to go off-site to any of the local Walgreens stores. Each Walgreens has a 24-hour photo lab, and will download your pics to CD for only $2.99 per CD, for as many pics as the CD will hold.

There are a lot of them in the area. I have a few that I frequent, however.

The easiest one to find is on SR 535, just north of the Crossroads shopping center. Follow all of the on-site signs to get to Downtown Disney, turn right onto Hotel Plaza Blvd, and follow it to the end (it dead-ends at SR 535). Turn left on SR 535, and the Walgreens is a few hundred yards up on the left side, just past Palm Parkway.

The second one is also on SR 535, but in the opposite direction. If you turn right onto SR 535 and go about 1/2 mile, the Walgreens will be on the right, next to the entrance to the Vistana resort.

There are also several on US 192. You can find these by following the on-site signs down World Drive to US 192 and heading either east or west.

To the east, the Walgreens is about 3 miles from World Drive on the left, at the intersection of US 192 and International Drive South. There is a sign on the opposite corner for a shopping and dining complex called Xentury City. Note here: You have to turn left onto I-Drive to get to the Walgreens, which is on the left, and a little farther up on the right is a Publix, which is a great place to shop for foods and supplies that Walgreens doesn't carry.

To the west, the Walgreens is about 1 mile from World Drive. I don't remember which side of the street it's on, but this one is closer than the Xentury City store.

According to the Walgreens web site, there is also a third Walgreens on US 192, about 2 miles west of World Drive, but I have never been to this store.

A more costly option is a portable storage device. Probably $200 and up. I think even the newer IPODs will perform this task. Just found a $240 hyperdrive with 80 gigs of storage and runs on what appears to be AA bats. 1 gig download in about 1.5 minutes!

Sorry, I would love to, but any time I add a link or embed a pic the forum will not allow the post from me. I think I must have more posts and be a member in good standing first. But I can not find any rules page telling me If that is true or perhaps I have not enabled something. I mailed the moderator but he is away until the 9th.

Search "portable storage" and you will see many other options as well. Then check out the reliability. Some devices need to be 100% motionless during transfer. I can not remember which.

Being a FL resident, I can tell you that it is hard to go more than three intersections outside of WDW property and not find a drug store (pretty much the same anywhere in FL). They all pretty much have the same thing for pics. There is also a Walmart pretty close to DTD that I would guess has a photo lab and it is cheaper than Publix for other supplies.

Will, I recently bought a Wolverine Flashpac from Fry's for $160. It's barely bigger than the 2.5 inch HDD inside it. It reads 7 types of media cards and holds 40 GB. It has a small charger and a fast transfer rate(2-3 MB/sec.). It has a basic LED screen to watch copy progress, etc.. It copies from your memory card and creates a new folder each time a card is inserted - even if you reinsert the same card. It has a USB cable connection and you just plug it into your pc and it shows up as a new drive. I'm leaving for WDW tomorrow morning and I've already tested it to make sure it performs and I have no complaints. I even copied video clips from my sony p&s with no problem.

The nice thing is that when you have it connected via USB it's basically just an external HDD and functions as such.
