Can I ask a question??

How many people went to WDW and loved it before they had children??
How many people feel "Disney" is their thing, and they share it with their kids now, but essentially you still go and visit for your own reasons??

The reason I am asking, is that DH and I got married last year after living together for 10 years!!! we took DD6 on our honeymoon and we all had a blast!! we all really enjoyed it this time as DD6 was now old enough to do stuff she couldnt before!!

We are now planning a 7 night trip on our own this year (probably not disney) and whilst everyones opinion is that it is ok to go away on your own.....when I mention to various people that we may do a 7 night in WDW or 4 nights in DLP peple freak out!! :scared1: as if i was the worst mother in the world!! I'm really hoping someone can give constructive advice bearing in mind im talkin to like minded people!!

DD6 went on a 1 week vacation to the med with my parents last year and a 2week vacation with inlaws to mainland spain!! and we are taking her to disneyland paris in october!!!

I think this sounds great !! One time, I'd love to go to WDW with just my DH.
Have fun, and don't let anyone make you feel guilty. You have to nurture your relationship with you spouse continually. Our children will grow up, and move on to have their own lives (that's what we want, right ?) and we will still be with our spouse. So, I believe in working on staying in love :love2:

I'd love to go to WDW with only my husband but to be honest I won't do it until DS is grown. It would break his heart. We can and do go other places alone without it bothering him, but it wouldn't be right (for us) to go there without the one who made it special for us in the first place.

I say, if the kids have been there already, they can stay at home for 1 trip! Dh and I just decided yesterday to go in April alone! My kids have all been there before, multliple times, now it's our time for some Disney romance!

ETA: We're not telling our kids, it just makes it easier. They'll have a blast at Grandma's for the weekend!

thanks for the replies, ive not decided myself yet, cause even though it feels ok now, i'm really worried i'll get there and feel she should be there..its a long way to travel to regret it once you arrive.

As I said we had been 4 times before she was born, and loved it, so we didnt start going to WDW with DD.

I hope this makes sense. I feel a bit better now - thankyou :flower3:

My hubby and I just got back last Thursday from an "adults only" trip to WDW. We left our 2 little boys, ages 7 and 3, at home with their nana. Let me tell you, we had an AWESOME TIME and had NO GUILT OR REGRETS!:cool1

Justin (my hubby) and I hadn't been alone for even one night since our oldest was born, so we felt it was time to do something for just the two of us.

Why would you feel guilty about going to a Disney park without your child? Seriously, children today have and get to do SO MUCH already! I'm pretty sure they'll survive mentally intact if you and your hubby happen to go on a Disney vacation without him/her.

Yes, we missed our little guys while we were gone (although we did talk to them twice a day on our cell phone). And there were moments when we'd ride something, like for example Test Track, and afterwards we'd say, "Boy, Ryan and Luke would LOVE that ride!" But we never felt guilty for being there without them.

If you want, read my trip report. It'll give you some perspective on how fun an adults only trip can be.

I really hope you decide to do it. I think you'd both have a wonderful time!:thumbsup2
