Has anyone been there at this time? How crowded is it?

Well that's good. When I called to make PS ressies the CM said it was a very crowded weekend.

Isn't the Tom Joyner Black family reunion being held that weekend? I think so. Lots going on with concerts and activities. I believed the groups are booked at CSR. Last year it got canceled because of a hurricane (my coworker was suppose to go, and they canceled it just days before she was to leave). And of course, the free dining packages will be totally in full swing too! So make those ADRs prior to departing.

Generally Labor Day Weekend isnot as busy as normal summer time days, however if you wait to "DO the PARKS" until Tuesday you will have shorter waits for attractions at the parks.

The last few years when arriving on Labor Day I will usually taken in DTD, PI, Water parks, FW, and resort pools until the weekend is over.

An update: Yes labor day weekend is the Tom Joyner family reunion weekend. It's from Sept. 1-5. Big concert on Saturday night at MGM, this is why MGM is closing at 7:00PM on Saturday the 3rd. I believe Ashanti and others are performing. The past couple of years they have stayed at CSR, so believe they are again booking participates there again too.

We are arriving late satruday afternoon labor day weekend, we will only be going to Magic Kingdom on Sunday and then the rest of the parks tuesday, wed, thurs, and friday. And the only reason we are going to MK on sunday is we have 5 days (non hopper) so we are doing MK two days. And thought that MK would be less crouded Sunday then Monday... not sure what it's our plan for now. I'm not sure if there are still a lot of schools that start the day after labor day or not but we thought that was the best plan, b/c if there are still schools that start that week, then it's very unlikely that they are going to miss their first week of school vs. out kids missing thier 4th week! :)

Let's hope for low crowds, lower temps and no hurricanes!!! :teeth: I'm hoping everyone with kids starting school leave on Sunday so Monday won't be busy either!

Oh no! We're staying at CSR-I hope it's not too crowded. The only plus is, groups usually get standard rooms, and a CM said if you're going to get upgraded, it's because groups took all the standard rooms and they need yours-so they upgrade you to make room for the group. It's now too late to move resorts and get free dining. :earseek:

How much will Labor Day and the Tom Joyner Reunion impact on Monday, September 5, 2005 -- Labor Day, itself.

We plan to be at MGM that day and are curious what we should expect in the way of crowds.

My intuition tells me that Monday is a travel day when people return home, but I may be wrong. For instance, if Monday is the Tom Joyner farewell brunch in MGM, that is going to impact on crowds even if the day is otherwise a travel day.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-Michael

You won't even know they are there. They had signs at AKL two years ago for some reception stuff. That Sat night before Labor Day they were partying large at MGM, which was cool - we got to see their fireworks from the bus on our way back to our resort.

We also sat next to Lil' Bow Wow's manager on the plane from Houston. He was taking his 13 y.o. daughter to the party so she could finally meet Beyonce. :cool1:

Regarding the crowds, it's crowded at MK on Saturday and drops down drastically on Sunday and then even more Monday on. We always go during this week. Love it.

we were going to MK on sunday and then stay at hotel Monday but now dh is thinking we should switch stay around the resort on sunday to recover from our drive down and hit MK on monday since it's open till 10 that night and only 8:30 other nights that week/end. what do ya think, anyone?
Thanks!

Very big time urban radio show. I'd like to meet him. The Tom Joyner reunion is just a big party he hosts every year at WDW with a bunch of his friends and celebrities from the biz.

JoyJoy,

When are going to Disney World and where are you staying? We will be arriving Sept. 1-7 staying at the CSR. We are attending the Tom Joyner Family Reunion. I think it will be alot of fun. :rotfl:

Blackaction,

We'll be there Sept 3 - 10 at Port Orleans-Riverside. Yay!

How'd you score an invite to the party? It's getting bigger and bigger every year.

Oh, btw, I've stayed at CSR before and it is really lovely. You'll love it.
