WDW is the 8th most disappointing travel destination!

According to this article in Smart Traveler: Smart Traveler Article WDW is the 8th most disappointing travel destination. Some of the others are also surprising!

I think whether WDW is disappointing or not to visit today is basing your perspective. If you compare a visit in the 80s toy visit today for example it would be considered a huge disappointment. Today your itinerary has to be extremely structured to be able to include things you want to do. Back in the 80s you could basically do what you wanted to do when you wanted to do it. There really hasn't been that much added with the exception of AK and in the other parks anything new had basically replaced something old that was removed. The total experience hasn't gotten any better in any respect. The same type of things apply for the lack of restaurant variety etc.

Now, many people didn't experience the parks when they were really fun so they think what they see today is the norm. Those people are probably not disappointed with the experience.
Is this what "journalism" has come to????? :confused3

What a load of nonsense!!!! There is nothing at all disappointing about WDW!! best place in the world!

I have been going to WDW since 1999 and the price of bottled drinks has not changed since then.

With Disney people have very high expectations and have spent a lot of money so I think it doesn't take much going wrong before people will say they're disappointed. I can't imagine any other park has the expectations that WDW has to begin with so people are more likely to roll with the little things at other parks that they would not be ok with at Disney.

You are 100% true and stated it beautifully

EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED SINCE THE 80's, or has it ?I know prices ,like taxes, go up every year, and the older i get my grandparents words echo in my ears about our "young generation", no respect, no manners, no training! In my opinion, however nothing has changed ,not manners, not training, not respect AND certainly NOT WDWORLD,yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I love it and they put up with my brood and yes its so expensive and wonderful,do your homework, plan your trip ,save your money ,have a good time, LOVE DISNEY!!!

Disney parks are expensive, and I won't make any bones about it. With that being said, my DW and I just did 3 nights/4 days at a decent hotel (but scored a deal on Groupon) in the loop of Chicago. The hotel didn't put us back horribly, but 4 days of hotel, parking (this was the WORST offender for everywhere we went in Chicago...what happened to my hometown and parking...its a sin what they charge!!!), attractions (Sox game, Museums, Zoo), and food...I'm pretty sure we paid more than half what we did for our last WDW trip back in October. This trip was an eye opener. I know while I'll cringe paying for my WDW trip, after that its game on....unlike a trip to Chicago, which is money here, money there....I've slightly changed my finances gripe about Disney...at least as a married couple with no children.

The other night I laid $3.25 for bottled water at a minor league hockey game so Disney's price is a bargaib

:faint:

I'm left wondering if I am the only person who knows that you can get free cups of ice water at any counter service anywhere in the parks? Just ask.

That's us - not paying for the only 'free' thing at Disney, LOL. Also, keeps us from having to lug around water bottles! It's good water also, only a couple of places that we noticed it doesn't seem to be filtered properly to get the chlorine taste out.

This article actually just states what has been common sense for years...
I could write a book on this...but as someone who had to deal with...specifically - the "disappointment" of travelers at wdw - its a real thing. There's just no way not to disappoint people with that much wind pumped into the sails. makes sense if you think about it.

Can't agree with this, and no, it doesn't make sense - really have never known anyone personally to be disappointed in their trips. We've been going since just the MK opened and have been around lots of people with 'expectations' completely met and exceeded.

If spending 2.50 for a bottle of water puts you out, then you don't need to be going to Disney World.

Oh, really?? Well, I have never/will never spend $2.50 for a bottle of water there. Sure, I can afford it, but I won't buy it. Also, I have every right to enjoy going to Disney and spending my money on things that 'I' feel is worth spending it on - and, it's not water!! :rolleyes2
