WDW is adding Jack Sparrow character!!!

I heard WDW is finally adding Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Hector Barbossa to their character lineup!! I am not sure if this is for the Pirate Tutorial to continue or what... but I am so HAPPY they are doing it!!

they put an add out for auditions to cast members:

"Auditions will be held July 24, for the hourly roles of Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa characters July 24 at Disney's Animal Kingdom Rehearsal Facility (3271 Sherberth Road) at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Jack Sparrow should be of slender to medium build and be within 5'9" - 6'0" height range. Captain Barbossa should have a strong medium build and be within a 6'0" - 6'2" height range. Cast members auditioning should arrive early and be prepared to wait."

i suspect it's probably for MNSSH / meet & greets, not for a show.

Barbossa??? I heard a rumor that a new Pirates character may be coming! This would be great! Wonder how soon after auditions that Barbossa can hit the parks! I'm going in September, love to see him then!

I would think the reason it isn't out yet is due to the union, they have rules to follow, I believe they have to offer it to the union workers first.

Woo Hoo! We can't make it to the P&PP, so even if he's not out yet by this year, it'll be something to look forward to next year. With the success of the movies, this makes sense. I would love to meet Witty Jack!

Wow, I never imagined Barbossa would become a character. I wonder if it's for meet-and-greets or just shows and parades? Definatly an interesting deveopment.

I saw him walking around POC ride last year. He wasn't signing autographs or anything. His actions were even like Johnny Depp in the movie! Quite a likeness don't you think?

That is amazing! Do you think that Barbossa will be out by the Pirate and Princess Party dates in August?!! I'm going Aug 27 - Sept 1 and my boyfriend would love to see Barbossa! (actually Davy Jones is his favorite, but Barbossa is a step in the right direction!)

Well since Barbosa isn't in the Pirate Tutorial show, I would think this means these additions are for autographs and pics

AWESOME! I've always been sad that he runs off right after the Tutorial, and the only photo ops I've seen mentioned seem to be at the P & P Parties! Having him in the regular lineup will be great! But now, how about Will, too? I guess he's harder to find a look alike for? If you stick the right hair and beard on quite a few men, they bear a certain resemblance to Jack, but not that many guys naturally look like Orlando Bloom. (Um, if you know any, send em my way! )

I JUST JUST JUST said to my boyfriend today (we finally went to see Pirates today) that I was giong to break my rule (I get freaked out by characters that look like people -- Mary Poppins, princesses, Mad Hatter etc.) and try and get my picture with a Captain Jack. THIS will make it soo much easier.

Now if they could only give me a few Captain Jacks (like when he was in Davey Jones' locker) THAT would be too much to handle

BUMMED MAJORLY b/c they probably won't be there for my trip Aug 4-11th and the 'rents say we wont be going back for another couple years....



but i second the votes for a WILL TURNER.... heck i don't need a 'character'... i'll take the real deal. ALL you others can have the 'characters' all to yourself!!!
