This is my first time on DIS boards, but I have been viewing it for awhile. I didn't want to post until I understood the lingo. Anyway, we are planning a WDW vaca possibly Oct. 19-26. We will be using the FT pkg. at the CR. Is it crowded at this time? We've been to the parks in early Dec., late Dec. and June. Does Oct. compare to any of these months?
Thank you to all!

Welcome diskidz. It takes some time to learn all the lingo here. I'm still learning...

We went at the end of October during Halloween time and found it to be pretty crowded. Not as crowded as in the summertime where it was crazy crowded. The weather is so nice at that time providing you don't get rain. We got stuck in many days of rain that time. It bummed us out a bit but we still did everything.

From what I've heard, it seems like October is getting more and more crowded. I guess that's why it's not listed in value season anymore. That's why we are going in November next time.

Have fun on your trip and on these boards. They're both great!

We went in late October 2001 and had a fantastic time. Crowds were light due to 9/11. Weather was hot first half of trip and was cooler second half of trip. Best part about October was the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. If you are there in October its a must do!

The week that you noted is the week of the Disney Funi Golf Classic. Might expect a larger than usual October crowd.

Sept is probably slower than Oct at WDW. Oct draws people for Columbus Day, Golf Classic and MNSSHP. But still, its not like going during school breaks! Take advantage if your kids aren't school age yet! Between school and activities, I'm having a hard time figuring out when to go next!

Disneyolic - watch out for Jersey week in Nov as well as Soap weekend and Veterans Day. There is one week in Nov where it is VERY crowded. I'm guessing it will be Nov 9 - Nov 16 this year. (As well as Thanksgiving week too!) Just a heads up for you.;)

sharoncity We are already set to go Nov 8 to 15. I think Jersey week is the week before. I know Vet Day is that week but we really didn't have much choice. As far as Soap weekend, we won't be a MGM during the weekend so no big deal. I'm a CBS fan myself. I'm sure it will be less crowded than when we went in October and in July (for sure). Thanks, though. I like others giving me helpful hints.

Disneyolic -
If everythings all set, then go and ENJOY! Crowded or not, it's still DISNEY. It will be wonderful!:D

My family (me, dh, & ds) have gone to WDW during the first week of October in both 1999 and 2001. As a teacher, my son and I are both have a two week fall break. Both times we were there, the crowds were very light and the weather perfect...not too hot.
Many schools in our state are now going to an extended school calendar and taking breaks in October so I expect this may cause more travellers at this time. But we didn't have the long wait in lines either trip and never even needed to consider doing the fast pass for rides. We will doing the Disney Cruise this October during our break and maybe visiting a couple of the parks before going back home. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

The time you are choosing to go is a very busy time. There is the golf classic going on, food & wine fest as well as the halloween activities.

Expect crowds and if you catch a break consider yourself lucky.
