WDW in July

It is looking like July is the only time we can plan a trip to WDW this year, tell me the good, the bad and the ugly so I can be prepared!

We totally became night owls. It was a GREAT trip (we were surprised), the kids switched over to staying up all night much faster than the adults-we were chugging some serious java that first night to stay up to 2 am (parks open late)

We called it our 'vampire trip':lmao:

summer hours are great!! Perfect for teens or those that sleep in and go on turtle time for most of the day.. The kids sleep late, have a leisurely breakfast and then a swim at the pool, rest and are ready for lunch/dinner and park time by mid day ( about 4ish) and stay until 2 or 3 am.. not very long lines the later in the evening you get.. in fact after midnight many are walk on..

Wow so other people do this too! We called our last trip "Disney In The Dark" I swam at the resort pool while the lazy bones slept in, then we went to the park, sometimes not until after the afternoon thunderstorm (did anyone mention this magic Florida crowd-eraser?) Pictures got a little dark, but after sundown, summertime in Florida is absolutely beautiful.

Glad to read so many positive accounts, thanks. We are booked, we are going the third week of July, I can not wait.

We are going July 28th thru August 2nd and then spend a couple days at the Nickelodeon Hotel - my kids know that they will not be going to the water parks while we are there as we will be spending two days at the hotel so they may do so then. I can't wait. We went in August of 06 - it rained every day we were there - actually more than what I had read prior to planning. I hope it doesn't happen again this year when we go. We are planning getting up early - hopefully and out early then back lunch time, swim, nap, etc. then out to dinner and back to the parks for awhile. Kind of disappointed that Space Mountain will be closed. We convinced my 8 year old that he was riding all the big rides since we are going for his 9th birthday - this was his request for a birthday. I have registered him for his b-day. I need to remember to bring his passport or birth certificate with us as proof. Good luck!

This is very true! So many people can't handle getting wet, so they leave the park! It's a great time to get in line! Even little ones can handle it, it's so warm getting wet is not a big deal. My favorite picture at WDW is my dd at 2 1/2 years old on her daddy's shoulders, epcot ball in the background, it's pouring rain and she took off her yellow Mickey rain ponchos (yes, yellow!) and just let it rain on her! That was July 2001.

I was wondering if there was a difference in crowd level between the last week in July and the first week in August? Thanks

We ducked into a gift shop and bought ponchos, which have the added bonus of making you extra hot/sweaty so that you lose 5-10 lbs in water weight after wearing them for just a few minutes.:lmao: I swear, one day I ended up wearing mine for probably fifteen-twenty min and when I took it off, it felt like it was instantly twenty degrees cooler outside.:rotfl:
