Hi Everyone - I have started my own Weight Loss plan, just watching what I eat and exercise, for my trip in 6 weeks .. I am meeting up with some new people and really want to shape up .. wink wink you know what I mean!
For the past 2 days I have been eating a piece of fruit for a late breakfast (well 9ish) then having a half of sandwich or PB crackers with veggies around noon and then walking a little over 2 miles around out local HS track with my new CD before I eat dinner.. when I am hungry I drink 8oz of water first then if its not gone in 20 mins I eat a piece of toast with butter. I am hoping to lose maybe 10 lbs by my trip I will be happy honestly with any loss !!!
I am soo pumped !! just wanted to share cuz we all know if you say it out loud it is harder to ignore!! LOL Michelle

Bigsis - Welcome to WISH! :welcome: 10 pounds in 6 weeks should be very obtainable. Depending on how dedicated and motivated you are, you could loose quite a bit more. I was watching Celebrity Fit Club the other day and they had a guy who lost 19 pounds in 2 weeks. Now, that isn't common but it can happen. Let's see if we can help you a long some.

Diet - If you really want to drop some weight fast, here are a few suggestions.
1) Eat a lot of green vegetables. Don't put all the butter or cheese on them, which is so common. You can put a little bit of spice on there for flavor though. You will actually burn more calories trying to digest them then you will take in eating them.
2) Try to drink at least 3/4 gallon of water a day. This will help keep you flushed out. It will also help you stay full so you don't want to eat as much.
3) Eat several small meals throughout the day. You really need some protein and some green carbs at every meal. This will help keep your body's metabolism steady so it burns more calories.
4) If you really want to loose fast, stay away from un-necessary sugars. This includes drinks, sweets and breads. All of these are just "empty" calories that go to fat. No matter what they say about being low in fat or healthy, they do nothing to aid in you loosing weight.

Exercise - Just a couple of suggestions here as well.
1) Try to do your exercise earlier in the day. This will spike your metabolism so you are burning calories at a higher rate throughout the day.
2) Get that heart rate up. If you really want to loose, you have to sweat. When walking 2 miles seems easy and not a challenge, add some jogging into the mix.
3) Do some light weight training. I am not talking about trying to look like Arnold. But there are definite advantages to weight training. Muscle burns more calories even when at rest.
4) Have a fun!! Don't look at any of this as a chore. Look at it as a lifestyle change to make yourself healthier and happier.

Hope all of this helps and makes sense. I would also recommend having someone that can hold you accountable. When you know someone is there to push you or to encourage you, it is harder to come up with excuses not to exercise. You can do that here on WISH or at home with a friend. I would recomend for it not to be a spouse, from personal experience. I have found out that when I try to encourage my DW to exercise, she gets mad at me and ends up not doing anything. Spouses typically don't want to be told what to do by there spouse. Join the exercise challenge. Or if you want, you are more than welcomed to join the group that I have here under the Dieting for Disney thread. We have a great bunch that is going through the same thing that you are and all they want to do is help you succeed.

Have a great day and STAY MOTIVATED!!

Hi thanks for the tips ! right now very motivated !! want to hit the clubs when in Disney cuz the kids are staying home so want to look like one HOT Momma (not the old frumpy one that currently occupies that space!) so I can shake with the young'ns -- LOL that sounds soo funny to me .. anyway... I do have a buddy that is going on the trip so she is holding me accountable.. I know I will have to watch for my water intake, not the greatest at drinking much of anything in a day.. and as for working out earlier well if I could drag this big ole butt outta bed that would be great but seem to have issues with getting up early.. I suppose as i shed some lbs and get into better shape that might be easier - i am such a night owl though!! Bubba73 thanks so much for the encouragement .. I am heading to your thread now!! Michelle

One thing to think about is, as far as your body is concerned, when you get out of bed, it is morning time. So if you get up at 10 am, go ahead and do your exercise (if time will allow before work or whatever you may do during the day). Right now, I am working late at night so I have been trying to workout before work. It is doing great. I am getting stronger and leaner at the same time so I know that it works. And for the record, I don't get up until 9 or 10 am each day.

If there is anything else I can do, let me know.

Hey Michelle

Just wanted to say goodluck! Everyone on WISH is very supportive! I've lost 67 pounds since joining WISH. Joining a weightloss challenge is a big help. If you want a support person to check in with feel free to pm me. I have had a few different WISH buddies and it's helped to stay on target.

Have fun on your solo trip
