So. I just got back from WDW very early yesterday morning (ie: like 1:30 am).
But while it was amazing, there seemed to be something going wrong around every corner.
We arrived Sunday around 10am and headed straight to EPCOT. Everything went pretty well, in fact, I don't think anything really went wrong that day. We had dinner at Biergarten and sat next to a very nice family visiting from France (so, naturally, Nora and I practiced our french with them- and we were told we had very good french for being non-native speakers with only high-school based experience...except for my week in france). The Globe is down for maintenance, so an altered version of IllumiNations runs instead.
Monday we hit up the Studios. One of the elevators on TOT broke down so the line got held waaaaay up. Four for a Dollar was supposed to be doing the B&tB pre-show, but they weren't there. Lights, Motors, Action couldn't finish the whole show because Hero 1 sprung an oil leak and it was all over the set so it wasn't safe. And, it was extra magic hours. The park was open until 1, so we caught the early Fantasmic (in the rain, no less) and then said we'd hit up TOT and RnR. Well, we did TOT twice and went to get in line for RnR. The posted wait time was 40 minutes, but the line was long. We got in it anyway under the assumption that either something had broken down and would be fixed soon or that there was a pre-show backlog and we would still be boarding soon. Well. We waited 1 hour 35 minutes and 26 seconds (I timed it). And we didn't leave the park until closing.
Tuesday we hit the AK. Everything went pretty well there. We headed back to OKW for dinner at Olivia's after the park closed, then hit the pool. We had headed back to our room originally to shower and change before dinner, but Maintenance was outside. We had no hot water. Eventually, the water was shut off (a main water valve under our building [and yes, it was just our building] had bust). So, the showering was out. But we still changed into our suits and left to have dinner with the promise the water would be back by the time we returned. Nora and I hit the pool and my parents went back to the room. We were headed back around 10 when my mom met us halfway (we were near Hospitality House) to tell us that the water was still out and that we should rinse off at the pool. We did (and it was a good thing, too). Nora's super blonde and her hair has the tendency to turn green if chlorine is left in it. We return to the room and Maintentance tells us that we need to run all the faucets and taps to clear the lines. It was either us or the room above us and they had small children already asleep, so we "volunteered". This resulted in an icky black sludge building up in all our sinks, shower, and whirlpool tub. Not amused. Maintenance says that he'll send somebody over to clean it all up first thing tomorrow. We say OK and head off to bed.
We wake up wednesday and my parents go to shower, only to find out that said icky sludge had built up in the showerhead and thus it wasn't working. We call maintenance and they send somebody over to "fix" it. Well, they didn't get that it was the sludge- they thought it was a bolt or something, so they tighten it- and crack the pipe. Water now shoots straight up into the air from above the showerhead. We call maintenance again. They send somebody over to "fix" it again while we're gone. They break the pipe while we're at MK. Dinner at Tony's- Nora gets 2 desserts because our waiter screwed up her order. No shower that night- Nora and I hit the showers down by the pool again. Mom calls the front desk- "Oh, yes! We'll send somebody over immediately". Maintenance shows up around 12:30 am- "Do you still want your shower fixed?" Mom- "Well, yeah.". Maintenance still fails miserably at realizing that we need a new showerhead entirely.
We woke up thursday and my dad heads down to the front desk to speak with a manager. Manager personally guarantees somebody will be over to replace the showerhead today. Even takes my mom's cell phone number so he can call to tell us when they're done with it. The Head of Guest Relations credits our room $150- we pig out at Le Cellier that night. Apps, filets, desserts and fancy drinks. Our bill was $30. For four. We return home to a sparkling room and a brand-spanking-new shower head. They even made the beds (which they aren't supposed to do since we were just going to get trash and towel service as we're on points).
Friday we get up and pack and hit the Studios one last time. Everything goes good until we get on the Great Movie Ride- it breaks down and we wait an extra 30 minutes to board. We're late for our TOT FP window, but after some explaining to the guy checking times we're allowed on (normally, they accept late times. I guess this guy was just being super strict). We leave the park around 2:30 to hit the pool/hot tub before our 4:35 Magical Express. So much for that- evil teenage slut group of doom has taken over the hot tub. We sit around in the lobby for an hour and a half. After that, everything goes great- because we were leaving. We also missed Michael Phelp's appearance at the MK.
Overall, it was a good trip- but apparently nothing will go right for Nora at WDW.
