I've seen several postings for the full but not the half. I hope I'm not duplicating another thread.

I thought it might be a good idea to post where you will be when cheering on the half participants.

Some folks have mentioned that they will be cheering on participants in the MK. I'll be at the Ticket and Transportation center and the Grand Floridian cheering on folks. If anyone needs me to carry any supplies or take something from you, please let me know. I'll also go to the finish at Epcot and I can bring your stuff to you there.

My plan is to be at the Polynesian? Anne did you say you cheered from here last year? I was planning on arriving early (as long as i can get on a bus and monorail there with time to spare before the start) to get a cup off coffee. I know Mom grabbed a cup last year but she then moved to Main St to see Susan and me.

So who else will be around the Polynesian and should we try to meet up and then walk out? I've been looking forward to cheering all year!!! I had so much fun cheering at MGM in 2007 for the Full that I knew I just had to cheer again this year :)

I am thinking that I will be at the Transportation and Ticket Center and the Grand Floridian. We have an ADR at Chef Mickeys later that morning so this will be the best place for us I think. Would love to meet up with anyone who will be in that area.

Hello, hello, hello!!! I've been trying to figure out where to be to cheer for everyone at the half and the full. I like Susie's plan of Ticket and Transportation around mile 4+, then Diane's to walk to Poly for mile 7 1/2, and finish by taking the monorail over to Epcot. I want to try and get around mile 12. It was just such a boost to see Sara and her girls there last year!

The Poly was great for the full. I'll be there also on Sunday. Looks like much better weather this year!!

I also volunteer to hold/bring anything for anyone in the half/full..just PM me!! :goodvibes Anne

YEAH for starting this thread. I was going to do Ticket and Trans center too :cool1: I want to do Main Street but when we ran through there last year it was PACKED!!:scared1: And I will have 2 tired (and maybe cranky) kids with me.

So where in the world should we meet at Tick and TRans and what time -- I'm going early, it's only mile 4 and DH has been averaging 9 to 10 min pace, depends on how hot it decides to be that weekend. !! PRAY FOR COLD!!!!

Angie, I was thinking the same thing about the MK. It WAS really crowded last year. Another good thing about meeting there is that you can then go over to the GF if you want.

We do need to figure out where to meet at the TTC and time. What wave is your DH in? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, I'm praying for cold!!!! Can't stand the heat and humidity. :headache:

DH is in Group B - second group and I know him - he takes off WAY too fast :lmao: all that adrenaline!! Of course it was me last year who made him run in grass first 2 miles trying to pass everyone :confused3

I am very rediculous about getting places early (he will be so happy to not have me making him get to start 2 hours early this year :rotfl: ) so I will probably get to TTR early - probably by 6:30 but I will stay there so my real ? is where around there should we meet, it was a blur to me where we even ran through there.

If anyone has any ideas let me know!! By the way, I was thinking of walking to Poly after but if we walk to GF what mile is that?

We're staying at the Poly so I was also planning to hit TTC and the GF area to see DH and other WISHers during the half. DH usually runs an 11min pace but with the shin splints may be walking a bunch. I was planning to get to TTC by 6:45ish, head over GF way after he passes then hop the monorail for the finish.

I'm not a cowbell specialist but I spotted green cowbells at Target tonight. As you enter there is usually a seasonal? section. The cowbells were $1.00 they were with plates that had footballs on them. They also had a pair of thin pom-poms and i think they were $1.00 too.

Name the time and place and I'll be there. I'm hoping to leave OKW on an early bus and grab the monorail to where ever. If someone is eventually going to head from the TTC and head to the Polynesian I'd like to follow as I want DH to be around there for the Full unless there is a better spot to be at just before the Full heads off to the AK. I'm having to scout out his place for sunday since he won't be arriving until Saturday night.

I think Cathy is scheduled to volunteer at the Half Water Station 4 (just outside of the TTC) but I think she has to go to WWoS to check in and gets bused to her station so I'm sure we'll both be up early.

Can't wait to SCREAM!!!!! :cheer2:

Where would be a good place to cheer people on? What time does the half start? What are the logistics of going to the park on half marathon day, are certian areas closed? I wish I was running, but I was too late to register for the half so we will be doing the Animal Kingdom 5K. I was planning on going to the MK on saturday so if I could fit in some cheering for the half participants that would be very cool.

I'll be at Polynesian also. (where we're staying) Both my husband and daughter will be doing the half, but they have very different times. I plan to be behind the Poly for them both. My husband will be towards the back of the pack, so I should see alot of the walking WISH team. Once they have passed, I will grab the monorail and see them again at the finish. I will miss seeing my daughter at the finish, but that's tha price she has to pay for being fast. I bought green pom-poms at the Dollar Store during Halloween. They are not the right shade of green, but will surfice. The cow bell sounds great. I have to pass by a Target tonight, so I will stop in and see if they have them. Was it with the old Christmas merchandise stuff or with Superbowl stuff? I will also be wearing my WISH shirt. We are coming down by plane and using ME so I'm not sure if i'll be able to supply goodies, but if anyone needs to drop off clothing and other stuff, I'll make sure you get it back.

Jeanneg it was by the superbowl stuff. For us it was walk in, pass the carts and there it is actually near the registers.

I don't know if the bells will be loud enough or not so if you have any cow bell experience let me know :lmao: these are really quite small to probably be true cow bells. they are maybe 2 inches tall but hey they were $1.00 each LOL

After reading the thread about the buses for spectators I'm going to be on the 3 am bus and probably will head to the Polynesian and grab a cup of coffee since i figure i should be waaaay early

Diane: that sounds way too early. I haven't seen the thread you are talking about, but the busses for the participants run until 4am and then for the spectators at 6am. Where are you staying? Last year I was at POR and got on the MK bus at about 6:30. I had planned to see my daughter near the Contemporary, but the traffic was so bad they dropped us off at the TTC. When I found out it was Mile 9 I realized I missed her, so I ran to the Poly. it turned out to be a great viewing area. I think the Poly is about mile 7.5 for the half so depending on how fast your people are, you may be able to take the 6am bus. If not, I will give you my cell phone # and you can hang out in my room for awhile. Also, what corral are the runners in? If they are not in the first one, they will start later and you may definitely have time.
Off to Target to see if i can find the bells.

Jeanne - where at the Poly are you referring to? The far right? Maybe Angie and I can meet around there as well.

Team,
Last year, to scream for the full, I was directed by the bellman to go out the front door of the Poly and to the right at the end of the parking lot. It was quite easy as you could hear the people yelling. I didn't get out there til 8:30 or so and there were just a few people there. Nothing like Main Street. At that time, I was surprised to see the elites running by! (I thought I was at mile 9 when it was really 12+...hey, it was my first time screamin'!) I would run alongside on the grass trying to get WISHer's picture, if that lets you know how not crowded it was.

Jeanne, I'm with you on the times. Although, after reading the spectators bus fiascos...I am getting concerned!! :goodvibes Anne

Anne, when you say out to the right, is that on the same side as the Grand FLoridian?

Ok, now that it is close I need specifics. DH and I are staying at Pop. He is doing the half on Saturday and will be taking an early bus to the Epcot start. He is in Wave C and will probably be at a 15mpm pace. I would very much like to cheer for him and other WISHers at TTC/MK and then at the entrance to Epcot. Exactly how does the transportation work? Any body staying at Pop and cheering the half and looking for company? I cheered last year outside of Epcot and had a blast! Gotta find the cowbell again!

Yes, Susie. The GF is a little up further from the Poly. We had some Marines from SOG yelling, too. I guess if you went out the back somehow of the GF, you could walk down to the Poly....Last year, when we did the half, that was where there was a character (Alice?) and some CMs, but I don't remember any spectators until Poly...

Anne is correct.....If you are coming out of the Poly you would go towards the right. If you are facing the main entrance, it would be left. Just go to the end of the parking lot and you will hear the people cheering. I think we had to walk through some bushes but we were rushing and trying to get there as quickly as possible. I remember someone there last year with a cow bell and thought what a good idea. The runners pass the GF before the Poly, which is about Mile 13 for the full. I will be wearing my WISH shirt and welcome anyone else to join me there.

Speaking of cow bells, my Target didn't have them. I found all the superbowl stuff but no bells.

Pat: John is also doing the half and does about a 15-minute mile. Will your husband be wearing a WISH shirt? I was told last year not to go to MK as it gets very crowded there. You can be at TTC and then move to Poly really quickly while the runners go through the MK.
