DH and I just came back Monday from our kid-free trip. Here's a little mini-trip- report:
Thurs - arrived at WL, took boat over to MK, Liberty Tree Tavern for Dinner (great, btw) rode Splash, 7DMT, IASW, POTC, AND best of all - we got to enjoy the Tiki Room, Country Bear Jamboree and Hall of Presidents, all of which my kids refuse to do because they are "lame".
Friday - EP in the late morning. Was planning to do lunch here but only made it from Mexico to Germany because it was SO. DARN. HOT. so we had to get out of there. Stopped at Electric Umbrella for lunch on way out - GROSS!! We both got the French Dip burger which tasted like dog food. HS for the evening and 50s PT Cafe for dinner where we loved the atmosphere, but the food didn't do much for us. Poured the entire night. We did TSM, GMR, ToT, ST........and then got out of there.
Saturday - AK this morning. Again, So. Hot. We just did EE and KRR, wandered around a bit, ate lunch (QS) at Yak & Yeti (ok), then back to the hotel for the day. Whispering Canyon for dinner which was BY FAR our best meal of the trip. Got the steak & potatoes and it was to die for. oh, since we were hanging at the resort this evening, we took the ferry over to FW to check it out and then got on the horse wagon ride which took us around FW. That was cool
Sunday - Kona Cafe for breakfast. Underwhelming, as was all of the Poly (our first time there). Maybe due to all the construction. I have now crossed Poly off my list of resorts I'm dying to stay at. I will go back for a meal once construction is done and see if I feel the same way. EP for the evening where again - OMG, HOT! Really just wandered around a bit, went to Teppan Edo for dinner which we both liked (I got the scallops which were really good), rode TT and Spaceship Earth on our way out.
The heat really put a damper on the trip for me. I don't do well in temps over 80, much less 90+ and humid. We went last August and it was a little more bearable, but this time.....yikes. Next year for our kid-free trip we will go in the Fall.
