WDW Flooded Yesterday

One of my friends experienced it first hand. And the Skyliner was stopped as well leading to huge transportation problems as the parks closed.

I think, I need to bring a pack raft next time I go to Disney.

Wicked downpours in Orlando area last night. We had to pull off of I-4 in Altamonte Springs for about an hour. That rest area on 4 SB just before that exit was packed and no place to park. Even the “No Parking” areas had cars in them.

Fortunately one of my company’s stores is a mile away from 4 at that exit and we hung out there.

We experienced this at Magic Kingdom in June 2021.

Fortunately, it was closing time, so we ducked in a shelter until the rain stopped and played frogger jumping around flooded areas to the exit.

I remember one trip where we had to change buses at Hollywood Studios during a torrential downpour. We had gone to the Polynesian for dinner and were on our way back to I think Beach Club so we got on the Hollywood Studios bus so we could transfer as it came before the Downtown Disney bus.

The water in the bus stop area was 6 or more inches deep. We were so wet.

Yeah, not the first time, not the last time. We got caught at Animal Kingdom once and the water was quite deep trying to exit around where Rainforest Cafe is. A little deeper and a new boat ride could have been added!

We flew home today and had made it back to our room just in time. We were at POFQ and it down poured for well over an hour. It was just too much, too fast and it wouldn't drain. The walkway in front of our room doors was flooded but no water came into the room. Shout out to our neighbor who was freaking out to someone on the phone and "couldn't believe that Disney would let it flood". LOL

I had to wade through ankle deep water leaving Epcot a couple years ago. Fortunately I was wearing shoes which can get wet. It’s one reason I am glad we don’t have curbs in our neighborhood. There are definitely some spots at WDW where the water has nowhere to go.

True. Only been to WDW once, June of 2017 and I was very surprised that a park that had been around nearly 50 years in an area with so much rain had so little shelter and had to close things down.
