Post all WDW Facts here. I'll start...

Fact: Walt Disney is not preserved and/or frozen to be brought back to life when techology advances and we would come up with a cure for lung cancer. Walt Disney, was actually cremated on December 17, 1966, two days after his death.

Did you know that the utilidors are NOT underground?? They are actually on ground level......
When you visit Fantasyland etc, you are actually on level TWO!!

I knew he was not "put on ice." However, I was not aware that he was cremeted. Do you know if his ashes were spread on WDW or DL property?

From Disney's own Guest Services FAQ site:

Q: Was Walt Disney cryogenically preserved after death?

A: Quite the opposite, Walt's daughter Diane recalls that her father spoke frequently about his desire to be cremated which, in fact, he was.
No researcher has discovered where this myth began, but it certainly is widespread. When Disney archivist Robert Tieman researched the issue, he discovered that the first attempts at freezing a person weren't even discussed until after Walt's death.

In any case, the people who knew Walt and loved him never heard him utter a word about trying it out himself. What's more, his family lingered around him for some time after his death. No white-smocked physicians rushed his body off to some kind of freezing chamber, as would undoubtedly have been the case if he were being preserved.

Walt's remains are currently interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

Did you know that there are more than 10,000 hidden Mickey's in WDW?

Did you know that Cindy's Castle DOES have an apartment built into it. When it was first built Walt and Roy's family were asked if they would like to have it set up for them. They declined and the room was used for storage for many years, prior to its current use as a "green" room for performers at the castle.

Did you know Tower of Terror is 199ft tall in order to prevent from having to put the plane lights (or whatever they are called) on top which they have to do if a structure is 200ft or over?!?

Did you know that the voice of Cousin Orville is none other than Warner Bros' Mel Blanc and his son Noel does the voice of the radio?

Did you know that WDW is not 28 sq miles but 27.97236? :rolleyes1

Ooohhh...I'd pay BIG bucks to stay there on my vacation! :goodvibes

The castle isn't made of bricks but of fiberglass(I believe).

The names on the windows of main street are of real people. People that helped make WDW a wonderful place :)

There are utilidors(smaller) at the Boardwalk, AKL, and Epcot.

Space Mountain was the first rollercoaster at WDW.

Cinderella's Castle at WDW is the second tallest caste, at 180 ft. Tokyo Disneyland's is the tallest.

There is 2,400 gallons of water pumped into the air every minute for the Fantasmic show.

The WDW parks have only been closed 2 times, once for Hurricane Floyd and September 11. Epcot has been closed by itself for one day as well, July 17,2002(was actually there that day).

I'll look for more later but this is a start :)

"The sun, which is at it's highest and hottest point at noon, heats and melts the grease on the tracks of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to its thinnest point as the day wears on, and thus the train goes faster in the afternoon. The ride's average speed it about 30 MPH, but can reach speeds of up to 33 MPH, which is faster than Space Mountain! Be sure to sit in the back of the train if you want to the ride to feel even faster!"

Uncomfirmed. Just a fun fact I found. :flower:

Then what was I doing sitting in a hotel room for 2 days during Hurricane Frances?

The room in the castle was used for many years as the PBX exchange for Disney.

The first country to be added to Epcot's World Showcase after the opening on October 1, 1982 was Morocco. It was added September 7, 1984.

I thought they closed last year for at least partial days due to hurricanes. Wasn't 100% positive though. Thanks for verifying. :flower:

The Sat/Sun weekend before Labor Day, WDW was closed. Thank goodness we had a 2 BR at Celebration to wait it out in!

There used to be a jetport near MK that is now used as additional bus parking.

Disneyland can totally fit inside of Kilimanjaro Safari. (!!)

WWTBAM-PI holds more audience members than the real show.

Michael Jackson used to dress as an old lady and go to Disneyland incognito to watch the children play.
