Hi! I was wondering just how crazy WDW is at Easter time. Our school vacation falls during this time and I was wondering if it was worth it to go during this time. Is it as busy as X-Mas? July? Thanks!

:goodvibes We went this Easter. We had a great time. Yes it is very, very busy. However, with good planning,it can be done! We were fortunate to stay at the CR, which made for quick access to the Magic Kingdom. Get to the parks at opening, then by lunch go for a swim at your resort. Definitely use the fast pass, and definitely have a priority seating for any lunch or dinner you might want. Go, and have a blast. :goodvibes

in 2006, the Northeast has school vacations which will coincide with Easter (usual NE vacation is the third week of April: Apr 15 - 22, 2006. Easter(nonOrthodox) is Apr 16 Orthodox Pascha is Apr 23.

We usually go this week due to school vacation, but next year - because DVC considers this Premium week - it uses beaucoup points! But, to answer when Easter is near the Northeast school vacations it is very busy. HTH

We went in 2004... it was very busy, not as busy as Christmas/New Year's
week. The E-Ride nights were still going on.... we had a surprise.. MK was
supposed to be open till 10pm on our E-Ride night, which meant that the park
closed for E-Riders at 1am... WDW extended regular hours to 11pm, which
meant that the park finally closed at 2am! We certainly did not do early open
anywhere the next morning! :earboy2: the parks were open very late
the whole week -minimum of 11pm, couple of midnight closings at the MK, and
late evenings at MGM and even EC (930pm)

If you are there on Easter Sunday... the Easter Bunny, and maybe Mickey and
Minnie may be at the resort in their Easter finery! We stayed at the WL that
week, and they were doing meet and greets by the pool. Most resorts have
fun things for the kids, too... the WL had a candy scramble for the kids,
segregated by age so the little ones cant get squished by the bigger kids.. ::MickeyMo

We were there this Spring Break and it was busy, but not at all unmanageable. Planning and the Dis helped tremendously, as did early EMH at MK. We didn't care for AK early EMH at all. We rarely had a wait, but we weren't at MK during the afternoon hours much, it did seem to start getting crowded then. Overall I'd go for Spring Break/Easter in a heartbeat, it was a wonderful magical vacation.

Thanks for the replies. I am getting my teaching degree this Dec. and I'm not sure if I will have a job in the Spring. I want to go to WDW in May, but if I am working in a school I won't be able to take time off. I'm very confused about what I should do. I want to start booking the trip now, but I'm just not sure what I should do. I do feel better knowing that despite it being busy, Easter would be a magical time to be in WDW! It is my favorite holiday too! Thanks!

Week leading up to and week of Easter are very close to Christmas week except that Easter has both waterparks open and warmer weather and thus those (and resort pools) absorb a larger part of the huge crowds than ever happens during the usual Christmas week. The waterparks reach capacity daily around 11 during Easter-time except for the rare cool day. Nevertheless, the MK can still hit capacity sometimes. As to July, it is somewhat worse than the days surrounding July 4 and significantly worse than most of the rest of the usual very crowded July. Regular lines for popular rides go to 2 hours and more (Test Track has been known to go to 3 1/2 hours) sustained all day all night except early morning. Even the Treehouse can get lines of 60 to 90 minutes. Fast passes very often run out before noon. PS's in advance for dinner are necessary if you want to eat; even the counter service places get half hour and longer lines during prime meal times.

To a great extent it is a matter of personality and perspective. You will find many who say it is crowded but with good planning you can have a great time. You will find just as many who will say planning doesn't mean squatt, the place is a true Haunted Mansion, and after doing it once or twice, they will never subject themselves to such a nightmare again.
