Hi. My name is TBDave and I'm a WDW Drinker.

I think my favorite place to drink in WDW is the Tune In Lounge connected to the 50's Prime Time Cafe. It's a great place to relax. I love the Electric Lemonade and Grandma's Picnic Punch.

I'm a bit disappointed to see the same drinks everywhere. Why does the Contemporary's Outer Rim lounge have the same drink menu as the Animal King Lodge's Victoria Falls bar? We need to get the Imagineers working on this.

Anyone else have some good WDW drinking recommendations, stories, insights?

usually stop at the Dawa Bar in AK and watch the tam tams

I had the best raspberry mojito from the bar at the Poly. Unfortunately they don't have mint at the Adventurer's club so I was unable to get it there...so it's not universal. Also DBF loves the Sunken Treasure and he is glad he can get it at any bar.

My DH and I are trying our attempt at Drinking Around the World when we land on the 20th 'cause its his bday and we figured, what the anyhoo............

I have done some research, but it is very difficult to find it on some sights:

The beers available at each country? I don't want a Bud in Japan, a Guiness in Mexico, and I want them all draft. DOes each country have an indigenous beer on draft or am I gonna be disappointed and have to switch to, GASP-hard liquor?

ANybody gonna be there that day and want to join us?

TBD Dave ... you've hit on a subject that we WDW drinkers have been gnashing our teeth over for some time now.

Hurricane Hannah's used to have some great drinks, including the stormalong which was a tasty frozen drink made with baileys, kaluha, and amaretto ... :lovestruc

Then they pared their menu down so that it basically matched that of every other resort's pool bar. Who in the world at WDW Dining thought that was a good idea except the number cruncher? We don't want to have the same drink at the Beach Club as we do at the Grand Floridian or at Saratoga Springs. For us, part of the charm of staying at such a large resort complex was the wide variety of choices we could find ... and I mean food as well as drink.

And then last year we found out that Disney crossed the Espresso Chiller off the drink menu (we were told that it was because the drink called for Starbucks liqueur ... apparently it's too expensive ... :lmao: ).

My husband and I have been really saddened to see so much variety taken off the table during the last four years or so. The prices have been rising at Disney pretty steadily for everything, yet they don't seem to be using the profits to encourage much in the way of culinary or alcoholic creativity any longer, with the exception of a few restaurants.

However, there are some good drinks available in Epcot. The Grand Marnier and Grey Goose slushies in France are good, and there are some tasty beer choices at the Rose and Crown.

We've also had some really good martinis at Narcoosee's, even though these are drinks we can purchase here at home: Pomegranate Martinis and Pumpkin Spice Martinis are yummy indeed! Martha's Vinyard still has a decent drink menu, although a lot of their signature drinks have also gone by the wayside. Lemme think ... Spoodles has some great Sangria...California Grill has good variety ...

Our experience now is that you have to be at a signature restaurant to find good alcoholic variety. Most the bars and lounges have similar drink menus, with a few drink exceptions here and there (like the Lapu Lapu at the Polynesian).

**Sigh**

I love the Tambu Lounge at the Poly, if you go around 3 the place is empty. Great Sunken Treasures, Pina Colavas with raspberry puree and regular Pina Coladas. Follow those with the Kona wings and we are very happy people!

It is not a bar but I love the peach schapps frozen tea in China...wow they are amazing

My husband recently enjoyed a 3 sake lunch at Tokyo Dining (it made Soarin' more interesting!) and I like a drink at Morocco - the Moroccan Sunset? or something like that.

-anything from the Margarita stand in Mexico
-a Black & Tan from Rose & Crown in UK
-a glass of Proseco (sparkling wine) in Italy
-a Lapu Lapu (strong!) from Ohana/Poly Bar

and my favorite . . . .

-a LARGE Spaten Optimator beer from Biergarten in Germany! If you like dark, rich beers, this is a must have!!!! I enjoy a few on each trip.

Nooooooooooo! Not the Stormalong! I loved to grab a stormalong and just chill at the beach watching the friendship boats and the Boardwalk light up at night.

Although it might not be on the "menu" you could ask for one. If you have a bartender that knows the ingredients they can make one for you.

A fav of mine (must do!) is a Rollercoaster meltdown at the Leaping horse Libations pool bar at the BW. It is not on the "menu" but I know that they will make one if you just ask.

And cant forget Spoodles Bloody Marys! Yummmmmmm!

Are there any good drinks at the Tusker House buffet? I like the Victoria Falls Mist at Boma and am wondering if Tusker House has something similar.

I'm not certain about draft, but here are some of the beers and my personal favorites:

Canada - Lablatts and Moosehead
UK - Bass outside, Rose and Crown has many draft beers inside - Black and Tan
France - Kronenbourg - Pouilly Fuisse white wine
Morocco - Casa beer - Tangierine cocktail
Japan - Kirin - Tokyo Sunset
U.S. - domestic beer all around World Showcase
Italy - Peroni - Italian Margarita and red wines
Germany - Beck's and Spaten - Spaten!!
China - Tsing Tao reg and light
Norway - Carlsberg - (bring back Ringnes)
Mexico - Dos Equis - regular margarita

World Showcase is my favorite bar period. Have fun!!

Thank you for that! I was wondering...I am so excited! It's a big people trip-just me and the DH for our bdays. We are doing it up in style this time-oh, okay, just trying to pretend we have style anyway. I am going to print this up and take it with me.

I agree with this statement. I tend to spend more money when I have a creative menu to drink from-and I am talking drink a few and then say, "Remember that $1000.00 painting we saw? Let's go buy it." and get up and do just that. Being a bartender from way back, the bar really influences the crowd to drink, so maybe they told the bartenders to influence in the direction of just a few.

However, most pool bars are pretty good at making whatever I like anyway. (I tip well for drinks and they usually get really good after the 1st drink).

The beer that I love that you can find all over WDW is Yuenling. It is a great amber lager and I grew up with it living in Pa. Now I movedto Ohio and I cant get it here but there is a brewery in Tampa and almost everywhere has it on tap. That and Spaten are amazing.

I really like the Island Sunset drink available at the Polynesian.

PI bars are not on the same standardized menu as the resort lounges.

Another disgruntled, standardized bar menu drinker here. :rolleyes1

I used to love the Oreo Mintini at Martha Vineyard. While I have been able to get 1 bartender to still make it for me, another looked at me like I had 3 heads when I asked for it. Another favorite was the Tradewinds at the Tambu Lounge. I havent been denied that one yet, but it is not on the menu. I've been lucky to get a bartender who knows it when I try. And the Mizners sidecar at Mizners Lounge, was another. :sad2:

I do have to say I like the mudslide martini on the standardized menu, but who wants the same thing over and over.

Being a former bartender myself, I went to ASMu a while back and had the bartender make up my specialty drink for me, and he wasn't sure what to charge, so he made enough and my tab was only $20 for 3 drinks that would have been at least $30 here at my bar, based on all the alcohol he put into it (I tipped him so well 'cause 3 was all it took for me).

But, I let a couple of people around me taste it and they all loved it so he ended up making a lot of money off me that night 'cause about 6 people ordered them-so he bought me a drink!

Lastly, it tastes like Hawaiian Punch but has 5 alcohols in it. All rums!

Yummy!

We love sitting at the bar at Narcoossees and California Grill. Charlie and Ray are our regular bartenders there and they take great care of us. We usually just say, "surpise us" and let them go to town. Thats the best way to get the drinks that you may not find on the menu. Ray makes a Godiva chocolate Irish coffee drink of some sort that is awesome. Not sure if its on the menu though, because, well I've never looked at one:rotfl: On a different spectrum, its always great to walk World Showcase with a pint of bass:thumbsup2
