WDW - Do I Need All 3 of My Family Members Logged In To Genie+ at 7am To Get The Good Stuff?

So we last were at WDW in April 2021 staying on site back when ROTR required us all to be logged in to the same MDE account, watching the atomic clock, and refreshing our phones at precisely 6:59:59 in the hopes that just one of us would get a spot on the ride on the one day we happened to be reserved for HS. Fun times.

We are returning to WDW next week, staying at Wilderness Lodge, and my question is, with the new Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes, do we have to do the same thing to ensure we get onto ROTR and the other good ILL rides at the other parks? Do we all need to be logged in to the same MDE account and refreshing our phones? Or as hotel guests we have a little leeway on time?

And, similarly, should one of us be getting a regular Lightning Lane at the same time another one of our party is locking up the Individual Lightning Lane reservation?

I'm wondering what the process is for a family of 3 at 7am on a park day to maximize the a) ILL, b) LL, c) VQ, and d) early magic hours so that we can get on al the good rides without having anxiety about being blocked out of any.

Thanks so much!

I'm in the same boat with my wife and 2 young daughters. Currently my wife and I have our own MDE accounts but we're linked so we can both make plans simultaneously. Our plan is for me to try for Slinky via LL, my wife but an individual LL for both RoTR and Guardians (we're park hopping).

As long as two of you are doing something separate like booking ILL and regular LL you should be good to go.

I divide and conquer with my travel party and we are logged into our own accounts - they do not log in as me and vice versa.

One of us does the VQ, one buys an ILL and/or someone books a G+ LL depending on park and desire to ride things.

The ILLs will last longer so that can be the last action. The VQ will go quickest of all options and something like Remy or Slinky will go fastest on G+.

We only have my account and at the beginning of the trip we both logged in to get VQ's in the AM. A few days in I knew I was on my own as my DD was sleeping and didn't 'need' to do the fun rides again. I did so I got up each morning to book them. :)

I will say I do not pay for ILL$ so that portion does not come into play for us.

As we are resort guests and can be at Early Hours rope drop at 7:30am for Animal Kingdom, can we race to Avatar and get on it without ILL or LL? Or does it book up and thus no opportunity to get on it without paying for ILL?

I'm not sure how ILL works vs. rope drop racing to these rides:

Avatar
ROTR
Guardians
TRON

If we are the very first people at Early Hours rope drop and sprint to these 4 rides, are ILL's totaling approximately $300 necessary?

There are no standard queues for Guardians or Tron. Either VQ or ILLs. So if you don’t get the VQ, then you can decide if you want to purchase the ILL. But you cannot ride either by a traditional line.

We have never purchased an ILL$ and ridden all if your top choices. Sprinting/running in the parks is not really needed nor recommended.

Your better option for FoP and RotR (if RotR is running at park opening which doesn’t always happen) is to arrive at your resort transportation 90 mins before ETPE begins to best place yourselves towards the front of the ETPE crowds.

Is it better to have two people logged into the same MDE account, or two different accounts linked. Which scenario. would move more efficiently?

Both work. Neither one is better than another. We’ve had equal success with both.

So two of us logged in with the same credentials won’t cancel each other out at 6:59:59 if one is going for a VQ and the other a LL?
Nope. You won’t cancel each other out even if you’re trying for the same thing! Been there, done that, more than once!
