WDW/Disneyland Park Passes - valid at the other theme park?

I've heard that you *must* buy APs specifically for each set of parks. (And, at least until my WDW APs expire in early February, I have one each! <g>) When you think about it, it makes sense since the benefits with each type of AP (and there's more than one level of AP available for each set of parks) differ greatly, as well as the price differing as well.

Oops - I should amend my statement to simply say *passes*, rather than APs. (I've seen this question many times, but it's usually in regard to annual or seasonal passes.)

My understanding, as told to me from a Disney Store CM. You can use left over days from a WDW Hopper at Disneyland. You can not however use a WDW AP at Disneyland. Nor can you use a Disneyland Hopper at WDW.

I know from personal experience that you can use left over days on a WDW park hopper pass at either DL or DCA. I've used an old value 4 day pass (they don't sell those anymore) from a 1995 WDW trip last year at DL. I don't know if you can park hop on the same day with at DL and DCA though. Since DCA is hurting in attendance, you probably could.

While it's good to know that leftover days on WDW passes can be used at the DLR, there's quite a price difference on passes between coasts and, to me, it would seem better to hold on to the ticket to use it again at WDW. (But what I said about APs still stands...at least until/if a special pass is introduced that allows access to all parks, but I think I'm dreaming in that situation. <g>)

Yes, that would be true if you knew you would be returning to WDW in the forseeable future. I go to WDW so infrequently, 4 times since the opening of EPCOT which was, what, in the early 70's? I held onto my unused days from 1995 for 6 years. By the time 2001 rolled around, the ticket prices at DL were higher than the per price days left on my WDW pass. I decided to use them during the summer when they weren't any So. Calif. specials. I also didn't want to be like my sister who frequents WDW. She would forget to bring them so she found herself purchasing new passes. Until recently, she had a collection of park hopper passes with unused days.

I would love for say an extra $100 over the price of a WDW AP make it a all US parks AP but....

I have a WDW AP from our December trip that will never get another use. :(

I've heard of people turning in even older stuff - ticket books! (If I still had a ticket book, though, it would probably be worth more on eBay by now. <g>)

No November trip? :( I'm in CA, but we're planning a trip for the end of January, the week before ours expire, to take advantage of it one last time. Otherwise it will probably be another year or two before we purchase new APs.

I wish we could....I have the AP's on my desk "haunting" me. I keep trying to think of a way to pull off a trip to use them again but...living in Ca it is so much cheaper for us to go to DL then to WDW. Just the cost of airfare to WDW is a trip to DL.
