DD accepted to DCP

My DD moved in back on Monday June 9. She had her 3 day park hopper by the end of move in day. Traditions was Friday but she did not receive her self admit pass for about two weeks as did her other roommates. I believe two weeks is the norm for the self admit pass as one roommate moved in about 1-2 weeks before her and got her pass the week DD moved in.

She used her passes to hang out with roommates, make friends and go to the parks with them. I went home Tuesday afternoon after moving her in Monday. This is something we discussed before going down. She wanted to hang out with me Tuesday since I had a later flight but I really pushed for her to make friends and start her new journey. It really worked out well for her.
I agree with this. We helped carry our daughter’s stuff in, then she immediately started in on the schedule they provided with no check ins with us. She also used her passes to get to know her roommates. We left the next day and encouraged her to spend time with everyone but us.

You discover the type of room when you receive the lease about a month before. 2x2 has twin XL beds, same as college dorms. 4x2 and 4x4 are full XL... queen bedding supposedly fits that. Most of the housing is 2x2. I think most of the private bedrooms go to people with accomodations, but you can get lucky... depends on what types of rooms are empty when you're moving in. When your kid goes to pay the initial fee, they'll pick their start and end dates.
Thanks

She just told me that she was asked for her start and end dates already (by housing) but we don't know what they are yet because that has been the only communication. She made up some dates. I think mid Jan through July. I will have to ask her is she got a lease.

I forgot, she did pay $250 deposit for housing but that was a few weeks prior.

Thanks

She'll get the lease in December then. My DD started 1/8/24, lease came when we were vacationing at Disney the week of 12/9/23. She got her role that week as well and had tons of tasks to complete for that. Lol, and she was reading thru the lease while we were in ride lines.

Whatever dates she chose are likely the dates. There is a big gap in any communication after the initial fees are paid....so next will be the lease or role, but not until Dec. I think there's usually a live webinar she can attend in between official communications that is an overview of the program.

So based on what your saying, for the first possibly two weeks that our DD is in the DCP program, she may only be able to visit the parks as a "guest" 3 days when using those complimentary 3-day passes that they get on move in day... Assuming she doesn't get her self admit pass for 1-2 weeks. If that is true... that kind of screws up our plans. DD moves in on Tuesday and then we planned to stay until Sunday night hoping she'd be able to meet us at the parks at some point every day. 🤔 But based on this information she might only be able to meet us 3 out of 5 of those days. I know she'll have "traditions" to do one day. When are they able to start using the cast member bus transportation?

That's correct. I'm not sure of the current process in Jan 2024 they could pick up the 3 day pass the day after move in .. I think it's just on their MDE immediately now? With a Tuesday move in, I assume Traditions would be 4 hrs on Saturday and 4.5 hrs on Sunday (day 2 is called something else). They get paid for both.

Their Flamingo badge gives them access to all the buses, so they can use the buses starting on move in day. Your daughter should add the PassioGo app to their phone and familiarize themselves with routes. The times listed are when the bus leaves that location. For work, the general thought is to take a bus that leaves 1 hr before work. (Disney penalizes lateness...1 minute to 2 hrs is .5 pts on their record. 3 pts is a reprimand.). For Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, they just take that bus. For Magic Kingdom they get off at the Transportation and Ticket Center. (It also stops at West Clock for MK employees). For visiting Epcot as a guest, they can't take the Epcot bus as it drops off backstage. Either go to MK and take monorail, or bus to a resort and take the guest bus to Epcot. (Or walk from Beach Club or Boardwalk resorts). Disney Springs is the other one you can't take a bus directly to as its just for the employees. Bus to any resort and take the guest bus to Disney Springs

As much as you and she will likely want to meet in the parks daily I would not make any preset plans. If she is able to, great. If not, great also. In addition to the Traditions times you may find that she wants to do other ad hoc stuff such as explore Flamingo Crossing area with her new friends from Traditions. Or, go to the park with them. Or, stroll around the complex to learn the lay of the land, try out the pool, etc.

Also, depending on how busy it is and what is going on at WDW, some admission for CM's to certain parks could be blocked. Probably not for the week she is arriving, but it is common during holidays. I do know that a lot of CM admission to the MK right now has been limited due to the newer nighttime parade. We were there 2 weeks ago and a CM friend could not join us on certain days. He was only able to get in on the nights the park closed early for MNSSHP.
