After much soul searching and hours of deliberation (alright, so I spent a few minutes thinking about it!) the details are set.

Meet in front of the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk at 6:00 pm. You can't make reservations at the ESPN, but I don't think we should have any problems getting in this early in the evening.

For those that don't want to eat we will retire to the Belle Vue Lounge in the Boardwalk Inn at 8:00 pm. This is a very nice place with tables on a balcony outside overlooking the village green.
Just enter the Boardwalk Inn/Villas from the lake side, turn left in the atrium and the lounge is a few yards down on the left.

Those attending:

Neo's White Rabbit
Astrid
Signtalker
Angel + Chunkster
Poohbears#1fan.
Me.

plus a few hangers on. (Spouses, children etc.)

Can you let me know whether you intend to eat or just attend for a drink so we know who to expect where.

See you all soon.

Kev

There was me makin plans to head down the M whatever-it-is to Gloucsester for the Carrot Crunchin Meet and yer go and set it up in bloomin Florida!

Sorrry we can'e make it - V's got our priorities wrong - but hope yer'll all have a lovely time.

Kev,

I think this probably depends on whether or not there is a big game on. The atmosphere is great, of course, when there is, but it can make it tricky to get a table.

Kev, its added to the schedule, me and DH will be eating but DS probaly wont.

How will we know who you are, is everybody wearing lime green ribbons? LOL!!!.

SD, im sure if you speak to V nice enough she will see her way to you gaz her and julie coming for a long weekend!!!.

Jules

.. oh for goodness sake  - if it had been last year I would have been able to make it. I am really jealous!

Not that it's any of my business :o , if you want somewhere where you can sit to meet up, there's always the tables outside Spoodles pizza window.. their pizzas aren't bad either!

OK, just so I have this straight.

If you come at 6pm that's to eat (at the ESPN club) or arrive around 8pm at the Belle Vue Lounge for drinks?

Do you need to know who's eating Kev? Or doesn't it matter so long as you know where to be when? Or can we LYK nearer the date?

We're driving back from Clearwater that day, not that far I know, but have a friend and her daughter joining us from Maryland and I don't know what time they're arriving as yet.

Thanks Kev for spending so many long hours pondering and debating this Meet!!! ;)

Can someone tell me something about grub at the ESPN? I know nothing!! As long as it's ok for the kids count us in for a meal, 6pm sounds good to us.

If by any chance it's packed we can always find someplace else in the area I'm sure.

I'm sure you'll spot us Jules!!! I'll wear my lime green ribbon though just in case! :D

Astrid

I can fill you in on the lime green ribbon NWR!!

People who post on the Dis have a bit of this tied to their person or bags whilst they're in WDW so that they can be spotted if there's another Dis'er around.

I always have a piece of ribbon tied to my rucksack and bum bag but have to admit that I've only ever been spotted by one other person - Steve, who works on Jungle Cruise.

However, it's also a good way of easily spotting someone who you're supposed to be meeting up with!!

HTH!! :)

OK returning the favour Astrid - found this...:)

ESPN Club®: Die-hard sports fans will be in sports heaven in this restaurant! There are more than eighty televisions scattered throughout the club including in the restrooms, so that fans don't miss a single minute. Television monitors provide just about every sport imaginable, so fans can watch golf, tennis, baseball, and football simultaneously! The food is standard sports bar fare. Appetizers offered are shrimp, dips, Buffalo wings, nachos, and salads. The "starting lineup" includes burgers, hot dogs, hot sandwiches, and pasta. Open for lunch and dinner, the hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday thru Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday. A side room has video games and sells sports themed merchandise.

Lots of questions to answer, so I'll start at the top and work my way down.

Dave - Good to see you back. How did you find staying in a villa as opposed to staying at the All Stars?
I haven't entirely ruled out a SW DIS Meet before we go, I just haven't plucked up the courage to talk to Hilary and Fiona about it yet. You know how they boss me around!
I have a provisional date set in my head of May 10th, but that's not set in stone.

Deb - I don't think we should have a problem getting in at the ESPN club. The American football season is over, I think the baseball season is too. Not sure about basketball. If there is an event that means it's going to be packed we will just go somewhere else.

Jules - No problem with recognition. Just look for the good looking bloke hanging around outside the ESPN Club. When you find him ask him where the Stringer family are!
Seriously, I don't think there will be too many people around that early in the evening, so it shouldn't be a problem.
If you want to have a look at my web site there are some photos of us. http://freespace.virgin.net/kevin.stringer/index.htm

Shirley - ooh, I love you when you're jealous!

NEO - No, we don't need to know who's eating. If you can let us know near to the event whether you are eating or drinking it would be appreciated. That way we won't be hanging around waiting for someone to turn up or, worse still, start eating before everyone has arrived.

Astrid - The food in the ESPN is fine for children. As well as the usual burgers, nachos etc. they have a full childs menu. We have eaten there a couple of times for lunch and it's been very good. Not an outstanding menu, but reasonable quality.

You don't look too scary, so that's OK ;) How old are your girls? My DD will be nearly 11 in May so might well enjoy having a girl/s of a similar age around. I suppose I'd better print that pic of you off so I recognise your little band...

Thanks for your nanosecond of organisation Kevin (joking!) It's appreciated :)

The baseball season will be up and batting my then - we can just sit around and say it's a girl's game I guess...like rounders ;)

Ahhh is that memorial weekend? My brother who lives in Georgia is driving down to see us at some point while we're out there so I'll need to speak to him before confirming. If we make it though it'll just be for drinks, we won't subject you all to dinner with a 4 month old baby! :)

I'll check with Mark about what time we'll get there and let you know Kev, whether it'll be for drinks or dinner...thanks for organising!:)

Looking forward to it!:Pinkbounc

Kev, just wondering, as Ive not been to ESPN, how noisy is it?, if theres lots of televisions, DH will really struggle with the noise, he's not fluent enough in sign language yet(unlike me!), I know he wont want me to make an issue out of this, but I know he would like to participate in the conversation, is spoodles less noisy?
Sorry to be a pain

Hey Jo - I think all of the people meeting (apart from our newlyweds ;)) have experience of babies - I was looking forward to meeting your little baby boy :) It is a boy, yes?

We'll also be bringing visiting American friends with us.

Neo - Our daughters are 9 and 12.

Jules - They don't have the sound turned up on all the TV's! I have only been in the lunchtime, but it was reasonably quiet then. In the main area they have a huge screen with the sound on, but many of the other TV's are showing different sport channels.
If it's looking like it will be too loud for your DH we can always go somewhere else. After all, if it's too loud to talk properly we couldn't have a proper DIS meet!

Jo - You are quite right it is Memorial Day. Hopefully everyone will be in the parks at 6:00, so it should be ok.

If it all goes sadly wrong, I'll do what I always do and blame Astrid!

Kev

Thats ok Jo, & NWR, I may be a newly wed but I have experience of babies too you know ! LOL...its my second marriage :);)

Looking forward to meeting you!:) :)

Kev - Cheers Mate - well, there goes that beer I was going to get you!! ;)

Astrid
