Some friends and i were looking at going to the scrapbooking thing @ the contemporary in September. http://dreameventsinc.com/eventdetails.cfm?EventID=11 It isn't being run by Disney, as far as I can tell.. We haven't been able to get ahold of the folks running it. I've emailed them through their website and left voicemail.

Is anyone here going? Has anyone gone before? (The website says '9th annual') If you've gone before, what did you think? Was it worth the $$? Did you get to see the parks? The big pin trading event is that weekend, and I'd like to do both, but don't know if I will have time? Also, we are trying to find out about the packages and stuff. 2 of my friends are local, and would just come over for the day, but the website doesn't list the price for that. Anyone done it before and know about how much it was?

Has anyone worked with the folks that run this before? I'm a little nervous about booking a package through them when I can't get ahold of a person to talk to.

Thanks!

I have been twice and a big group of us are planning for next year
To answer a few of your questions,
1) it takes time for Dale and Nancy to get back to everyone Nancy is having some health problems and when possible they are both at the current SDV event. So I'm sure someone will get back to you soon.

2) I love it and I think it is worth every penny. I have had a ton of fun and have met a lot of great people. I took my mom in 2005 and my DH in 2006.

3) parks- did those at night after dark since it was a bit cooler. You can scrap and do the pin trading too I left all my stuff at the table I was working and went park hopping, eating, etc. The room is open 24/7 so you can go down any time.

4)packages- SDV has to fill a certain quota for booked rooms before they will release the spaces for local scrappers. If you look at Camp Hill you will get a rough idea of cost, it may be a bit more expensive at WDW. Not really sure of the cost though since I fly down.

you will be fine booking through them, I have never had problems in the past. Just keep in mind that it is past the full payment date so you will probably have to make a full payment instead of installments.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Heather,

You will love Orlando SDV! This will be my fourth in the last five years. I had to miss last year due to staffing problems at my now closed scrapbook store. Nancy and Dale are great!:thumbsup2 They run a great event with very, very few problems. During the event in 2004, Hurricane Charley decided to change directions and head straight across Florida, hitting the Orlando area as a category 2 storm. As the storm hit, one area of the room developed a leak. One of my favorite pictures was of Dale and the unlucky scrapbooker, laughing and holding an umbrella over the table.

I've met a bunch of great people through the event...Hi, Buffy (BernardandMissBianca).

There is a Yahoo! message board for Orlando SDV. The link is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OrlandoSDV/

This year I'm teaching a class, hosting a secret pal gift exchange and participating in one other swap. The Yahoo! board has a ton of planned swaps...some are still open.

Any questions, just ask.

I'll be at Disney for the 8 and 9th of it. I thought about doing it, but I'll be with my dad and I'm not sure what he'd do when I was cropping. I'm thinking of doing the one here in Georiga or at WDW next year.

I am not going but I will be at Disney for Night of Joy with my youthgroup.

If you're near the Contemporary during the weekend of SDV, stop by. With a group this large, we will be set up in the convention wing. The doors are open and in the past hotel guests have wandered in to see what was going on.

I will be there during that time, but no cropping. It does fall on my birthday and I should be able to do what I want, but we are driving from New Jersey and my stuff wouldn't fit. We would have to leave the children and MIL at home to accomadate my scrap stuff.:rotfl:
That would not go over well.
Maybe I will stop in.
