WDW Construction

I've been reading some complaints about the construction at some of the parks in WDW. I know DTD is going to be under construction until 2016.

Does anyone know about what's going on in the other parks?

I am bringing my in-laws this November and I just want to know what to expect. The talk about the construction around the tree in AK makes me sad! I am hoping that will be done soon.

Thanks!

Not sure how long it will be up, but I know that the Castle hub is under construction.

Yeah. I thought I read that. I will be so disappointed if it is still under construction when we are there. I know they have to do it sometime though.

We went in Oct and there was a lot if construction at AK, but I didn't notice it much. Same with the Hub. But I'm the sort of person who didn't notice the crane at the castle until someone told me. I don't think it interferes that much with your day

MK and AK are under heavy construction, many walls, partner statue boxed up etc.

Unsurprisingly there is little to no construction happening at DHS and Epcot.

I don't think final dates have been given for any of the construction jobs. The hub construction is done with the first phase, but the current work looks to be far from nearing completion according to the latest photos I saw on easywdw.com. There is also a large scrim up in front of one of the Main Street buildings. It's been there for months, so I don't know when it will be down. Some smaller scrims were up in Adventureland around the Verandah, but I don't know if its still up.

AK has a LOT of walls up all over the place. You can't help but notice them, since in some places they're on both sides of the walkway, and you feel like cattle being herded down a chute. Much of it has to do with the Rivers of Light construction, but some are for building refurbs and retheming. The walls are DOWn now in front of the Tree of Life, and the new carvings are wonderful. Walls pretty much block views of the water from the walkway between Africa and Asia, all the way to Dinoland. But the walls don't really impact any of the attractions inside Africa, Asia or Dinoland.

There's not much going on in Epcot as far as construction. I think there is still a wall up around the new central stage they're building in DHS. But there its mostly just empty buildings going to waste.

Wow. It doesn't sound very magical. Fingers crossed that things move quickly in the next 5 months. :wizard:

we were there 3 weeks ago. Yes the hub is under construction and there was a skrim on main street and a few around the hub area, but none of that diminished the magic in the least. The new areas of the hub look fantastic. If you go focused on the negative aspects of the construction then all you will look for are the walls and skrims. Instead of going with a fear of construction, try going with an excitement to see the beauty of the new hub, the expansion of the castle and the new carving on the tree of life. the magic is there, trust me, but if you spend your time focusing on what might be wrong you may never experience it.

No matter when anyone goes to Disney World, there will be construction. You will see walls and scrims (I think that's the correct term) and have attractions down. There's really no other way to change, improve, correct, or update anything since the theme parks are open 365 days a year. And when Disney closes a water park for a few months but leaves the other one open so there can be a total cleansing, people don't like it.

I don't think there is a good answer for what one person wants/needs or what another one wants needs. For me - Disney could close down Magic Kingdom every time I go and I would be happy. And now I hear sounds of screaming from other posters.

We were just in the MK and DHS last week. The Hub looked worse, IMO, than it did in December...I guess maybe because of the big box in the middle and the silly tree scrims beside the castle? Adventureland also has construction going on...there are a ton of walls there and one side of the restaurant that is being built was completely open to the elements with no wall blocking it, which I found odd.

DHS has no walls to speak of, though supposedly there is construction going on inside some of the buildings that are not currently in use.

When we were there in December, AK was a maze of walls and there were walls up in Norway in Epcot as they remake Maelstrom into the Frozen ride. Since that isn't opening until 2016, I'd expect those walls to be there for quite awhile. Innoventions is also now completely walled off, other than the Disney Visa M&G and videogame stations, according to a recent post on easywdw.com.

We are here now (6/17) and I noted a couple of things about Epcot.

1. Innoventions is a ghost town (except for SOAT). It's astounding how empty both halves are now. I have no idea what they're doing, but hopefully it's substantial.

2. The walls at Norway extend almost to Mexico. Here's what I don't understand: Frozen supposedly has the same ride track as Maelstrom. The same boats. What the heck are they building?

I thought I read they are building a dedicated meet and greet area for A&E there as well?

Much of the construction work mentioned on the hub is nearing completion. THIS was posted earlier today. The center of the hub is complete, and the new castle towers are almost done. Work seems to be moving very quickly on the east and west sides of the hub that will finish the construction.

The construction on the Mexico side has nothing to do with the F ride. It is for the new M&G hall for A&E.
