Brian (twokids0204) & I were talking last night about plans for next Tues at HS, and we ran into a snag:confused3

we know that they tried to eliminate rope drop on a trial run, but we do not know the outcome, so the question is, is there a rope drop at HS or are they doing it some other way:confused3, this is something we need to know for sure since we are also meeting someone else at rope drop or whatever it is now, to sign up the kids for Jedi training 1st thing in the a.m., we must keep balance in the force:yoda:

Last I read on the theme parks board is that they're letting people in starting around 8:45 or 8:50 for a 9:00 opening. You can then proceed directly to the attraction of your choosing, no opening show and no rope drop. I think the poster was just there last week or the week before.

I'm glad they're doing something to ease the stampede, but I liked the opening shows at all the parks... Now only MK has a show, which makes me a little sad.

Thanks...

So Commando, our plan still stands... 8:45.

And we play it by ear... if the crowd is being held back we meet at our desiganted location, if not we meet at the line for JTA.. (although I will run to get FP's for TSM and DW will be waiting to sign the kids up at JTA. :darth:

Either way, call, text, or carrier pigeon.

:thumbsup2

But, MK has the train in their I opening show. The others just never lived up to that.

True, but I thought the DHS opening show was very fitting. You're in Hollywood and you're an extra in the show for the day. I really enjoyed it, got me all hyped up to run (I mean walk) to TSM. ;)

:lmao: They could just have moved the FP from TSM right by the entrance and saved us some running. Although, with the Vader scene in Star Tours, I'm willing to skip TSM in favor of that.

Maybe we should go for a 8:30 gate meet, this way if it's a freeforall the wives can go to Jedi Training Signups and we can get TSM FP'S:confused3, I'll have to let Barry know the new plan:thumbsup2

A lot of rumors over at It's A Disney World After All, mostly meet & greets that may be moved, but 1 has my head spinning since I didn't know Disney owned them, The Lone Ranger & Tonto may have a meet & greet at MK:confused3

Thanks for letting us know, the one thing I don't like about this is now you have crazy people running from the gate,it reminds me of a horse race:rotfl2:, I think this is where a lot of people confuse the Commandos with the Mad Dashers, but for the most part that's all the Mad Dasher has planned solid for the day:lmao: Just running from one place to another will lead to a failed plan a tire you out:sick: You have to keep your plan real, you can have a lot of things to get done but if it was well thought out there is no need to run around the parks like a chicken without a head:confused3

Agreed! And it's just wrong that commandos get a bad name on some threads here because people just don't understand that you don't have to run to get a lot done. Except running to TSM, I still think that's worth it because I can kick my DHs butt. Lol. Speaking of which, does anyone have experience riding TSM with a young child? Can you put them on your lap? And how does that affect your ability to score points, i.e. should DH hold DD for that ride?

:lmao:
When I originally saw this thread I thought the Commandos were Mad Dashers. I can't imagine doing an all day thing like a theme park or Renaissance Festival without having some kind of plan.

Yeah, definitely not a mad dasher. Slow and steady and in the park all day.

Please help me decide if I am commando..

Last trip 4 nights.

Arrived at POFQ checked in and hit MK.

I use tourplanning.com and their iPhone app. (Absolutely Amazing)

Anyway, we got to the parks at opening and followed the iPhone App and hit all of the rides we had planned and made shopping stops along the way. So we did parks from open to usually 11pm. Also, had my DD 7 and DS 4 with us.

Is this commando?

Absolutely. DW made me go back and take naps with our 4 year old. Bravo. Our leader may have left for his trip to WDW, but keep on posting and you'll get a member number soon enough.

:welcome: I think you are commando, you came up with a plan followed it through, had a good time, so I think that makes you member #211:cool1:, IMO 95% of all guests that say they are not Commando, at some point of the trip, even if it's only once resort to some form of Commando way:confused3

Got two days yet before deployment to WDW:cool2:, Send me your contact info Norm so I can keep you in the loop of what's going on at WDW, and if your up for it I would like to hand the keys for the front door of the Commando Club over to you for the week:confused3

This is going to sound crazy, but the heat has never really been a main factor for us :confused3, all the main things we already hit in the AM, so when the heat index is at it's worst between 1-5pm, we will hit mostly inside shows or all those long presentation rides that are inside.

The summer rain is what you have to watch out for:eek:

We have gone in August for our anniversary the last two years so realizing we couldn't go this year was killing me. The heat has never been to much of an issue. I don't know if its because I am at Disney or what, but I don't even notice it. The rain kinda sucks but it clears out the parks so it doesn't bother me that much either in the long run. I have curly wavy icky hair that I tend to only let down when it's straightened but I do everything in my power to seal it down while at the world and so far it has worked ok. That is what freaks me out the most when at Disney, no joke...hahaha. Sad I know! But I figure if in general my biggest stress is my wavy hair then I must have commando planned everything enough!

It's months later, I know....but I am catching up on everything I was too depressed to read before I found out I was taking a trip hahaha... Seriously I didn't find out till 2 weeks ago about going in September. I go through withdrawals and always feel like I have nothing to say if I am not planning a trip!...

But seeing everyone in this club reminds me how much I love you guys :lovestruc

I can't wait to try the Sorcerer's game at MK. I know that everyone is happy about the Agent P remake, but I actually really like Kim Possible so I am kinda sad. I was bummed about Test Track, but now that we have the cars ride at DCA I guess I will just have to spend more of my annual pass time at Disneyland....darn.:stir:

I have been reading the last 8 months or so of posts and there were so many I wanted to reply to, but I kept thinking "no, wait till the end"...then I realized I didn't remember what half of the responses were...oops. face palm

I am lucky that DH is retired military and follows directions well, he knows I am the General at Disney, and he is the Sergeant and his job is to keep our recruit (DS) on task without to much complaining :woohoo:

I tend not to talk about my plans with my friends IRL, cause they all look at me as if I am crazy. I even pre-plan snack options. However, I am a kind leader :littleangel:and will allow anyone to use the bathroom when nature calls even if it isn't on the schedule!! :rotfl2:

My DH is retired military too and that is how it works with us as well. One of the best things on vacation is that in a group situation he is really willing to have my back! He is so used to being in charge that it is hard for him sometimes but we do Disney well together. But you are nicer than me. I get annoyed when people need to stop to potty. I am of the mind set that everyone should try at the same time and just go. When some people need to go and a bunch of others go "naw, I'm ok." only to need to go 20 minutes later I get frustrated.

THEN, disney announced that the free dining offer ended on the 13th ... so i totally re-worked our vacation (and managed to sneak another day into the vacation ;)), changing resort and dining reservations ... studied up on the parks and schedules. i talked to schools about getting kids out earlier than planned, made sure our pets have places to go, planned flights, etc.

so .. yesterday, disney announced that they've extended the free dining offer to the 20th of december! :faint: i think i felt my brain explode.

I would have had an aneurysm. I always forget that if you get there on the last day of free dining it counts! I am a total Disney food freak and not having the dining plan this time since we are staying out our friend's parent's timeshare is only making me want to go back to Disney next year so I can get the dining plan! hahahaha... I doubt we will have the money but it would be FABULOUS!

This is such a great thread!
I need to gather my fellow DLR commando vacationers, I feel like there are fewer of us.
I'll still take all the tips I can from here, thanks!

Let me know if you ever want to commando DL with a group. We do it all the time and I have my year pass till next year. Once the prices went up this year I realized this might be the last year pass for a while. (Luckily I know a few people who work there that are able to get me passes every once in a while) I am actually going for a few hours tomorrow with my friend since he has never seen the new cars land.

i couldn't resist... i had to make changes! :goodvibes

there are still a couple more decisions to make though, like which to choose if you can only have one or the other ... MVMCP or La Nouba? :confused3 my family and i have never been to either.

any suggestions?
MVMCP is probably fun for the little ones and I know I have enjoyed all the Christmas stuff I have done too...so I guess I can't say anything. But La Nouba is AMAZING! We went for our honeymoon and it was so beautiful. We have also been to a ton of other Cirque shows since then and have loved all of them, but each one is different which is the neatest part! It was all about dreams and nightmares though and some of the stuff is a little off, especially for people who scare easy or the young ones (I would think) Some of the other ones we have seen were less out there. But it is like a giant dream circus, so maybe I am wrong and it wouldn't be. Anyway the point of my entire goofy rant ( I haven't been sleeping well and can tell I am rambling) is they are both amazing in their own right and at one point when you get back there you should try to do them both! It depends on how disney an experience you want this time.:rolleyes1
