Here are some pictures from the last time we went Commando in the parks.

Disney Commando said:Brian (twokids0204) & I were talking last night about plans for next Tues at HS, and we ran into a snag
we know that they tried to eliminate rope drop on a trial run, but we do not know the outcome, so the question is, is there a rope drop at HS or are they doing it some other way, this is something we need to know for sure since we are also meeting someone else at rope drop or whatever it is now, to sign up the kids for Jedi training 1st thing in the a.m., we must keep balance in the force

Last I read on the theme parks board is that they're letting people in starting around 8:45 or 8:50 for a 9:00 opening. You can then proceed directly to the attraction of your choosing, no opening show and no rope drop. I think the poster was just there last week or the week before.
I'm glad they're doing something to ease the stampede, but I liked the opening shows at all the parks... Now only MK has a show, which makes me a little sad.

But, MK has the train in their I opening show. The others just never lived up to that.
True, but I thought the DHS opening show was very fitting. You're in Hollywood and you're an extra in the show for the day. I really enjoyed it, got me all hyped up to run (I mean walk) to TSM.![]()
Thanks...
So Commando, our plan still stands... 8:45.
And we play it by ear... if the crowd is being held back we meet at our desiganted location, if not we meet at the line for JTA.. (although I will run to get FP's for TSM and DW will be waiting to sign the kids up at JTA.
Either way, call, text, or carrier pigeon.

Maybe we should go for a 8:30 gate meet, this way if it's a freeforall the wives can go to Jedi Training Signups and we can get TSM FP'S, I'll have to let Barry know the new plan

Disney Commando said:Thanks for letting us know, the one thing I don't like about this is now you have crazy people running from the gate,it reminds me of a horse race, I think this is where a lot of people confuse the Commandos with the Mad Dashers, but for the most part that's all the Mad Dasher has planned solid for the day
Just running from one place to another will lead to a failed plan a tire you out
You have to keep your plan real, you can have a lot of things to get done but if it was well thought out there is no need to run around the parks like a chicken without a head

When I originally saw this thread I thought the Commandos were Mad Dashers. I can't imagine doing an all day thing like a theme park or Renaissance Festival without having some kind of plan.
Please help me decide if I am commando..
Last trip 4 nights.
Arrived at POFQ checked in and hit MK.
I use tourplanning.com and their iPhone app. (Absolutely Amazing)
Anyway, we got to the parks at opening and followed the iPhone App and hit all of the rides we had planned and made shopping stops along the way. So we did parks from open to usually 11pm. Also, had my DD 7 and DS 4 with us.
Is this commando?

Absolutely. DW made me go back and take naps with our 4 year old. Bravo. Our leader may have left for his trip to WDW, but keep on posting and you'll get a member number soon enough.
This is going to sound crazy, but the heat has never really been a main factor for us, all the main things we already hit in the AM, so when the heat index is at it's worst between 1-5pm, we will hit mostly inside shows or all those long presentation rides that are inside.
The summer rain is what you have to watch out for![]()
I am lucky that DH is retired military and follows directions well, he knows I am the General at Disney, and he is the Sergeant and his job is to keep our recruit (DS) on task without to much complaining
I tend not to talk about my plans with my friends IRL, cause they all look at me as if I am crazy. I even pre-plan snack options. However, I am a kind leaderand will allow anyone to use the bathroom when nature calls even if it isn't on the schedule!!

THEN, disney announced that the free dining offer ended on the 13th ... so i totally re-worked our vacation (and managed to sneak another day into the vacation), changing resort and dining reservations ... studied up on the parks and schedules. i talked to schools about getting kids out earlier than planned, made sure our pets have places to go, planned flights, etc.
so .. yesterday, disney announced that they've extended the free dining offer to the 20th of december!i think i felt my brain explode.
This is such a great thread!
I need to gather my fellow DLR commando vacationers, I feel like there are fewer of us.
I'll still take all the tips I can from here, thanks!
MVMCP is probably fun for the little ones and I know I have enjoyed all the Christmas stuff I have done too...so I guess I can't say anything. But La Nouba is AMAZING! We went for our honeymoon and it was so beautiful. We have also been to a ton of other Cirque shows since then and have loved all of them, but each one is different which is the neatest part! It was all about dreams and nightmares though and some of the stuff is a little off, especially for people who scare easy or the young ones (I would think) Some of the other ones we have seen were less out there. But it is like a giant dream circus, so maybe I am wrong and it wouldn't be. Anyway the point of my entire goofy rant ( I haven't been sleeping well and can tell I am rambling) is they are both amazing in their own right and at one point when you get back there you should try to do them both! It depends on how disney an experience you want this time.i couldn't resist... i had to make changes!
there are still a couple more decisions to make though, like which to choose if you can only have one or the other ... MVMCP or La Nouba?my family and i have never been to either.
any suggestions?
