Holy cow, I leave in three days and I have barely started packing. However, I have great plans and have the days memorized (for the most part).
Ok Commandos.....Who else is already planning their 2012 trip? I am!!! I've already made a list of ADRs for next summer!!!![]()
Have a GREAT tripHoly cow, I leave in three days and I have barely started packing. However, I have great plans and have the days memorized (for the most part).
ME!! We are planning on an August trip. Haven't booked anything yet, just in the planning stages now. But it would be early in the month and hopefully stay at Caribbean Beach Resort. 5-7 days. Me and DS are wanting to try out some different character meals than what we've had. Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, Cape May and Akershus are the ones we are thinking now, well not all of them lol one or two of them.
And then, we are talking about a short trip for December 2011. I am going in for a job interview tomorrow and its basically IF I get the job we'll take the trip lol, cause we've been a one income family forever, so with another full time job to help out we could work an extra trip in.

3 overlooked Gems IMO
1- Vehicles on Main Street, this is a great time that most overlook rushing to rope drop, you can ride on Horse Drawn Trolly, Bouble Decker Bus, Fire Cart, Maybe even a car it all depends what they are using that day.
They are are free, it is 1 way, from the train station to the castle or revirse, usally 2 are running so take 1 each way, be sure to look for Main Street Charaters (Mayor, Dewwie Cheatin, Fire Chief etc) for a meet and greet afterwards
2 Pressed pennies, Pressedcoins.com has a list of ALL locations and designs on WDW property, so if you are looking for certian ones this is a big plus
3 WDW Transportation Trading Cards, (MY Fav) not sure if they are still doing them , they were when we were there in Dec
It can be quite a challenge to score cards since it is volentery and all Transportation CM's do not have them (you might have to ask a bunch of them before you find someone who has them
) anyway there is a total of 18 - 3 Bus, 3 Boat & 12 Monorail, (Bus CM's have only bus cards etc)
If anyone has any overlooked Gems, please post, this is how we become a Team
T- Together
E- Everyone
A- Achives
M- More

Thank you! I think it went well, but now its just a wait and see thing.
Never knew about #3, will have to tell DS. He would go nuts for that. And yes the pressed pennies!! I printed out that list and took it with us and me and DS would sit in the hotel and pick out the locations to seek out. We each bought a thing to put them in and we go back and look at them all the time! We're already making a list of the ones we want to get next time.
With The Transporation Cards I will honestly tell you it's not a easy task to obtain them since all CM's do not have themThe easiest ones to get are the bus ones
the Monorail ones are hit and miss, I had the best luck scoring them at Epcot, Contemp & GF
The Boat ones I've been luckey to score all 3 a couple times now from another source at WDW (any Commando or Dis Dad Member can PM me and I'll tell you the spot, just don't want to post, and cause a mad rush
) I just wish someone could confirm if they are still doing it
When you ask a Transportation CM about them don't say it to loud (if they have them they don't have alot) if they have them it's kinda funny, they will usally hand them to you like Top Secret files![]()
There are 2 more cards I would like to try and get for my son
- co-piliot on the ferryboat, I don't know if they still do this since you would ride in the boats piliot house, did it stop when they stopped doing the monorail ride up front, or do they still do it
- MK train Conductor card, I'm not too sure how you would get this one, do you just ask, or do you have to sit in a certain spot
Over the last couple of years, besides the Transportation Cards, I have been able to score a few Monorail Co-Piliot Cards (before they stopped doing it)
and the Speedway Drivers License
Are there anymore out there![]()
ron, how about the smaller ferry boats like the ones that run from the campground to the mk? the wood/blueish boats only hold about 20-25 people. if i see one tomorrow ill ask. theres also the yellow ferry boats running around.
So, I was planning to take my dd for a mother/daughter trip to NYC this summer. After pricing out the long weekend, I discovered that I could take her to WDW for nearly the same cost! So, guess where we're going!
The trouble is, the trip is the weekend after next, so I am doing some serious last minute planning.
Here's what my schedule looks like so far:
Flying in on Friday the 8th. Arrive in Orlando at 9:45. ME to ASMusic.
Friday afternoon we are going to HS since it's my daughter's favorite. She wants to do RNR and does not care if we miss TSM since we were just there in May. Dining at 50's at 3:45. Fantasmic at 10:30.
Saturday - MK for rope drop. Back to resort for midday break(nap!). Wishes at 10 and MSEP at 11. No dining reservations this day, we're planning counter service.
Sunday - Sleep in and then EP. We're not doing Soarin'. Counter service for food. Concert Series is a Journey tribute band that my DD wants to see. Stay through Illuminations.
Monday - AK EMH at 8am. Reservation at Rainforest at 2pm. Flight leaves Orlando at 8:45.
I hope that I have struck the right balance of commando touring and down time so that we can enjoy the weekend without being too tired when we return.

They are still doing the Transportation Cards! I was there May 29th to June 5th and managed to get one monorail, 2 boat, and 2 bus cards. But it was like pulling teeth to find anyone who was carrying them! This was my first trip to ask for any but it was fun when someone actually had some! I hope some operators continue to have them in the future cuz now my boys are pumped about trying to get more next year!
Awesome weekendYou got the Main thing you want to do in each park covered, plan is level headed and not over the top for a short trip
You will most likely get alot more done but that all fits in the bonus catagory
Have a GREAT time
PS My wife and I LOVE your cakes
