WDW Commando Club

I'm getting rejected at every PTO request for later in the Summer!
I can have the week of Spring Break off.....anyone been in mid-March? I'm sure it's busy but since I'm planning rope drops I don't think it'll be much of a problem, plus I'm not doing any TS.

What do you all think?

Mid March is the busiest I've ever seen it.

We were there in 2009.

With FP's and Rope Drops, and a good plan - it's manageable.

I've never been to WDW the 1st half of the year, I would really like to go at the end of March on my Bday:goodvibes, We have done our anniversery and my wife & son's Bday, but I feel alittle left out:rolleyes1

We have been there on some busy weeks,(Jersey Week, Cheer Week:scared1:) but planning I never paid much attention to it, since the way most of us Commandos plan, it doesn't really have much impact:goodvibes As long as you plan smart you will be golden:thumbsup2

a ron update!!! our leaders computer has crashed. i didnt hear from ron in a few days so i sent him a text. he got back to me this morning and told me his computer crashed and wasnt sure when he was going to get on the dis. again. so hopefully he will get things up and running again and he will be back on. :thumbsup2 i was starting to wonder if he snuck down to wdw on us and didnt tell us. :lmao:

It's rather boring being normal, so it's fun to be weird once in a while. Go beat your computer into submission Ron.:badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc: Or threaten to throw it out the nearest window, and send it to computer heaven (or hell depending on how badly said computer crashed). The best thing you can do is find someone computer savvy to attempt to fix the computer. It's no fun when your computer is not co-operating with you.:grouphug:

 i will pass that on to him. :thumbsup2

I'm super excited because everything is just falling into place for me to change my trip to our Spring Break week! I just checked my email and had a pin for 25% off a value through the end of March! We were going to stay at Pop anyway so I called and booked my room only and the week will now cost within a few dollars of the same price I would have spent staying off site! I'm buying APs since I plan to go ahead and take another week of PTO in August and then go again in December 2012! :cheer2:

After a couple hours of beating the PC up it's kinda workin:banana: after like 10 days:scared1: (I'm not counting on it working for long before it freezes up:rolleyes1)

Getting a new PC on the 26th, Big Thanks to Dave Z who has been keeping me up to date:thumbsup2

-Dave (theduck619) hope you had a Great trip can't wait to hear about it:cool1:

- blondietink hope you have a Great time, let us know how you made out:woohoo:

- BELLEDOZER - I think once we get the new PC , I might turn this one into100000 megabites, with the help of a 10 lb sledge:lmao:

-zianha - sweet deal with the room, glad to see they let get a whole week together off:yay:, when are you planning to go on the August trip:confused3

I hope my PC works now till I get my new one, but I'm not holding my breath:eek: So if you don't hear from me for a few days, you know what happened:scared1:

:welcome: To The Dis Boards & I'm glad you found our club, you are member #181:cool1: If we can help you out with anything just let us know:woohoo:

I feel your pain Ron, as my hard drive is slowly heading towards the great and mighty computer graveyard in the sky. It's an old one a tekki friend of ours gave to me so that my DH and I wouldn't come to blows over who got to use the laptop when. It's ancient to start with, but has suited my needs well, and have learned to work around it's quirks. We're all amazed that it's lasted as long as it has, and will replace it within the next 6 months, once I save up the money to buy a new one. Good luck with your new PC! We've all become so internet addicted that when our computers die for various reasons we go into withdrawal. Have a great day!

Trish

I've done a thread search, but nothing came up for this question.

Is it possible to be commando if staying at Fort Wilderness?

I'm sure the camp site we get will have a lot to do with how early we need to get up to get to the one of two bus depots for parks.

Does anyone know how hard it will be to get to the parks for rope drop?

Thanks in advance.

It doesn't matter where you stay, a Resort, Camp Site, Off Site, some live close and don't stay at all:yay:

What matters is what you do when you get to the parks, (do you have a planned agenda, not saying down to the second, but things to accomplish during the day:confused3), can you be flexible with your plans, some things you might have to come back later to do:rolleyes1

I don't foresee a problem getting to a rope drop, pretty sure busses start running either 90 or 60 mins before parks open:yay: So as long as everyone is up and ready to go you should make it in ample time:woohoo:

Thanks.

Just needed to hear from someone else that I wasn't crazy for wanting to stay commando while staying at the campgrounds.

Are you planning to do The Chip & Dale Campfire Sing Along at the campground:confused3 I'd love to get a 1st hand review on it, we are thinking of going to it next trip:woohoo:

::yes:: Oh yes! We plan on going commando the first week to get it all in before the crowds start arriving. Then the second week we will do early morning park runs and then relaxing in the afternoon at the campground. The night before our planned DisneyQuest day we will do the campfire.

Will take lots of photos and a trip report. :thumbsup2

Thanks.

Definitely not crazy! Granted, it's been 25 years since I stayed at FW but my aunt was the commando back then and she got all 10 of our party up and at rope drop with no problem!

Disney Commando- I was planning my August trip for the first full week in August since our school year starts 8/20, but I already got declined for my PTO requests for both my August AND my December 2012 dates!!!!

Seems all summer and December I'm hitting road blocks getting an entire week off in a row. Now I've gotta decide to scrap my AP idea and be happy I have off in March to go. There's one week I requested in June where there's only one day that was declined during the 6 days I requested. It's too early to get someone to for sure work for me that day, but I am contemplating just taking that and calling in "sick" that day....or just moving to Orlando!! Hee hee..... I wish it was that simple!

Well at least that what a sick day is for, I hate using them on really being sick:rolleyes1

Knock on wood I haven't used any this year :woohoo:, they pay us for them instead of accumulating them, so it will pay for a round trip to WDW on the Autotrain:yay:
