I read that Disney provides high speed internet connections in their apartments. Does anyone know if it is a wireless connection or something that has to be plugged in - and if it is something that must be plugged in, does it require an ethernet cable or what? Thanks!

Plugged via ethernet.

If you want to go wireless, you would have to bring your own wireless router. However, I do know some people that would "leach" off others using unprotected wireless routers in nearby buildings.

Thank you very much! Are the ethernet connections in the bedrooms or the main living areas of each apartment?

The living area. In Vista it's in the living room. In Chatham they have a "computer desk" area in the main hallway.

The Chatham desks are big enough for two full tower systems, or about 3 laptops. Otherwise you'll want enough ethernet cord to run it to a table or bedroom.

Just wondering, how strong is the internet connection? My last college the connection was pretty slow and half the time was not even working. Wondering if these problems have ever occured down there?

it's really pretty fast. I do remember one time it was out for a while. Not good when you're taking online classes. But if you're spending your program on the internet the whole time, we got problems ;)

if the internet connection goes out, give the phone number on the DSL modem a call. This happened once during this past fall and I waited a day before I called them. They sent someone over the next day and it was fixed just like that.

The internet connection is not that fastest connection ever. It is on the slower side of how DSL connections go. There is also a firewall so some programs my not work (i could not connect to Disney's Virtual Magic Kingdom!). But it works and I was able to use it and my computer for my online class.

one more question though... How about X-box Live or games like Starcraft and Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2? I have a program that patches a whole in the firewall so u can basicaly sneak through it. I had to use it at my last college. I don't play games too often but i do enjoy some every now and then.

i remember seeing something along the lines that the internet that they provide is a basic educational internet, and that you could purchase an unlimited add-on for gaming and such. I do not remember the exact fee, but i think it was like $9/mo. I may be wrong.

I never did any online gaming there, as i was to busy doing other things.
