Here we go again ... WDW will be closed Sunday due to Hurricane Jeanne.

It's been a rough two months for the resort:

Animal Kingdom - closed 6 days
MGM - Disney Studios - closed 5 days
EPCOT and Magic Kingdom - closed 4 days

It is VERY soggy and windy down here. Nobody in their right minds are willing to be out in this weather.

By the way, it is in the contract of all the animals at DAK that they will be indoors during any major storm, and they hold Disney to that contract.

You see, Florida has these things called HURRICANES......and they leave quite a bit of destruction and devastation in their wake....I know it's horrific to think the parks wont be open for those to ride Space Mountain for the 100th time but hopefully in time and with a little therapy, everyone can understand the need to close the parks when a HURRICANE is approaching..

Prior to this year Disney only had to close once due to weather. Disney is not on the coast and doesn't normally get the full force of hurricanes.

OP simply said the weather has been rough this year. Certainly may cause people to think twice about booking a trip during hurricane season.

Thank you for stating the OBVIOUS. Not sure why you took OFFENSE to the post. Hopefully in time and with a little therapy you can get that big CHIP off your shoulder.

DancingBear,

Take a few minutes and read the original post. Maybe I mis-interpreted it but it sure sounded like the OP had concerns about the park being closed "yet again." Read that however you want, but I think it's a tad offensive for someone out of state complaining about park closure when many employees/citizens have no place to live and no electricity....

OK, guys, this thread is getting a little snarkey. Kindly stay on topic & be polite to your fellow posters or I will close the thread.

Again, not sure where you get that the OP was "complaining". Says it's been "a rough two months for the resort" not "a rough two months for us Midwesterners who keep having their vacations interrupted." I think you are taking offense where absolutely none was intended.

[Sarangel, I hope that was polite enough.]

I also re-read OP. I also don't see any problem. Rough 2 months certainly applies to the resorts, staff and entire area. Sounds to me like OP is saying it's rough for the people in the area, not rough for guests.

MK was closed for 4 days compared to 1 day (for weather) in all previous years combined since the opening of WDW.

Let me let everyone know what I meant in the original post...

A Major Weather event has forced WDW to close yet again this year. It is very unusual for weather to have WDW close (only happened one other time). WDW acted responsibly for closing the parks.

I certainly was not saying. . . Even though winds of up to 100 mph and heavy rains will make for very dangerous conditions, WDW should have opened the parks so that three guests could ride Space Mountain.

Exactly how most of us took your original post. Not sure how it could have been taken any other way?

I've noticed in many threads that some Floridians are maybe a little overly sensitive nowadays. And who can really blame them? The past few months are still hard to believe.

Planogirl,

Well said! Maybe my reaction to the OP was oversensitive(and it probably was) , but it was taken from the frustration of seeing multiple posts of "oh, no! my vacation will be ruined by the hurricane" or "Disney closed again?" without giving much thought to the people here who's lives have been devastated.

I'm sorry if my first post was harsher than I intended...

As a floridian, I will say that I seem to be overly emotional about everything right now. Frances and Jeanne both made direct hits in my county so we're a little stressed. I do hate that WDW has been closed this month, though. People who work there need the money just like my dh needs the money. His buisness has been closed 8 days in September.

Florida stinks right now! LOL
