Hi folks! I have a question. My family is planning a trip to WDW in June of 2004. We're going to have a very large group (23-25 people) and we're considering renting some vacation homes for the week. We've all been to WDW well over a dozen times before, but we've never stayed offsite. We're looking at renting a 5 bedroom and a 4 bedroom home with Best Western IPG Florida Vacation Homes . We called and they said if we book early we can probably get 2 homes side by side. Does anyone have any feedback about Best Western IPG Florida Vacation Homes? I've found other places around that are cheaper, but I don't know if I can get side by side properties. Can anyone recommend another home rental agency where I could get two houses that big side by side, or at least reasonably close? We usually camp at Ft. Wilderness and it's a bit of a tradition that we always cook and eat breakfast together before the day starts. This time we've decided against pulling the campers all the way down to WDW.

Thanks,
Greg

I agree with Disney Steve you should definitely stay at Windsor Palms. Not sure about IPG we used Global when we stayed at Windsor. We were delighted with the house. Their website is Windsor Palms Resort

Good luck with your research :)

We pray your Disney Vacation is as memorable as ours was.

We are staying in Windsor Palms again next June.

We have a large group going also and the owner I rented from this June contacted both of her neighbors on my behalf to check availability. I was able to book homes next door to each other. The website is very thorough and the homes you see listed are the actual homes you rent.
Windson Palms is very popular and was recently featured as a top Villa Resort on a UK travel show, so it's best to book early to increase your chances of getting homes next to each other.
The conservation views are awesome!
Next year we have 2 6 bdrm and 1 5 bdrm home booked on WP.
The amenities are very nice also.

you may want to revise your thinking about the size of homes. I have a 5 bed home and it is licensed to sleep up to 12 - a 4 bed will take up to 10- total 22.Anything above these totals may result in the owner losing their license.

I want to thank everyone for thier help! Windsor Palms looks really nice, and I'm pretty sure that's where will stay.

One question for Jannyans...

That total includes kids too, right? In our party we'll have one child who will be 10 and 10 teenagers (5 are ours + each one gets to bring a friend). When my MIL spoke with the folk at IPG Best Western she was told not to count anyone under the age of 17.

Thanks,
Greg

children under 3 may not count -but it may depend on the county you are staying in .Polk say up to 12 in a 5 bed Osceola may be slightly different but no way can you have people sleeping on the floor
your teenagers will certainly count towards occupancy numbers

Orlando Villas caught my eye several months ago, best rates and luxuries as well.
I have booked a 3 bedroom home, w/heated pool, internet access and a PC plus all the usual things from a rental vacation home (FULLY furnished) for 4 weeks next january, with all the taxes and all it came to about $100 a day including the pool heating. This will be our second trip to Orlando, first time was through Families First

Greg,
I don't know what IPG are doing telling you that under17's don't count but it is pure nonsense. The DBPR enforces chapter 509 of the Florida Statutes and the actual maximum occupancy allowed is one person per 150 sq.ft gross floor area.

The layman's guide is two people per bedroom and two other people on a sofa sleeper.

As regards the counties, there is a lot of speculation in regard to Polk County and homes larger than 6 or 7 bedrooms. Recently I have done a lot of work in regard to establishing the actual facts and have been unable to uncover this as yet. It appears that Polk County has their own building code in addition to the State one but getting a copy is proving difficult.

Osceola county is a different matter and homes of 7 bedrooms can accommodate 16 people maximum. Infants under the age of 3 and sleeping in a cot are excluded at the present time.
