We just got back from 5 days at WDW and loved every second of it! I'm really wanting to go back already! To take my mind off of my sadness I've decided to plan our next trip :). My kids are 6 and 9 but I would really like to see Universal studios too. Do u think going to WDW and universal is too many days in a park? Which do u prefer? I love staying on disney property and using the dining plan. What r your thoughts?

i do the motherland and the darkside on all my orlando trips.

stay onsite at both resorts.
it's like having two different vacations.

it is very doable.

many times i have used the motherland dining plan but never again.
wasn't worth it for me.

Get the 2 park 1 day and the express passes and u can easily do both parks in one day. I plan our universal day on Saturday because the magic kingdom is always extra crowded Saturday's. If your 6 year old is at least 42 inches they can do a lot, 48 inches and they can do everything except 2 rides. It's a bit pricy but it's worth it to us. Then your out of there by 6 and u can go to wdw after. We usually will use our counter service for dinner and save the table service for either doing a 2-voucher meal or do a table breakfast and dinner another day.

Our Orlando trips are either WDW and Universal or only Universal. Our first trip was a combo and DS was 6.5 years old and we had a blast. We definitely have longer trips, and it's always fun.

We do stay onsite at a deluxe at Universal; the perks there are too good to miss. That makes our trips relaxing and very nice. When it's time for WDW we move over there (though usually we do WDW first and then Uni), not because of their perks, but because we own DVC and because if we wake up at Universal we want to be at Universal. :)

Since our second trip, which was taken inside a year from our first one, we bought Universal APs and we've just kept them since then.
