WDW and Universal. Who wins?

I'm totally with you about the energy and guests being different but from your comment we seem to have the complete opposite of the impressions of people.

Side note what about having a ride like VelociCoaster makes people rowdy? Not seeing a connection there nor a connection to high thrill rides. If you look to Disney they've had a fair few amount of brawls in recent years...all with tamer attractions, MK seems to get it a lot, the place that has the most tame rides.
Maybe rowdy is the wrong word to describe some of the more boisterous people at Universal.

I'm completely not surprised at the brawls at MK. While the majority of the guests are great, MK seems to have the largest gathering of whiny, entitled people.

They have different reasons that all end at the same point. For literally years now on these boards people talk about how Disneys days are numbered because of EU, Disney announces its own major additions and the same group talks about how it shouldn’t be done, it’s unimpressive, and destroying dear old nostalgia, ect. Same song and dance just a different way of saying it.

My favorite is watching all of those people agree with everyone else’s points, because the whole goal is to put Disney in their place for some weird reason. It seems like people are really insecure that Disney may have done something people will like so they are doing anything they can to tamp it down. Again it’s weird going on a fan site to reminisce about a company you used to enjoy.

If I used to love McDonald’s and now can’t stand them (or dislike what they’ve become) I wouldn’t hang out in their dining room telling all the people who ate there how awesome they used to be, just weird

Point out a single person doing this. Quote them directly.

I'm sure Disney can build a thrill ride like Velocicoaster if they want to. But do we really want the rowdy Universal crowd here? I go to WDW and Universal regularly. The energy and the guests are different.
Go to epcot on a Friday or Saturday during food and wjne and then come back to let us know if you have any edits to this comment.

Universal on the other hand hasn’t created the memories, experiences, nostalgia that Disney has, so any and all change is welcome there.
Ironically, Universal has kept to Walts original vision of not becoming a museum, better than Disney has. I think those efforts are really starting to show benefits now. It's almost like they have started to out disney Disney.

Memories, experiences, nostalgia.... I guarantee you that's a subjective opinion of many but not all. Many families now want Universal as their first trip....watch 2025... with Disney being the side park. Disney still has 2 completely unfinished parks, 2 rather old parks with a lot of wear and 2 waterparks that need complete redos.

It's OK to have 1 or 2 untouchable things ie. Carousel of Progress or ET to truly show the history, but nothing else should be saved. The

Universal's main park is still a humongous mess, to be fair. It's why Universal is forcing people who want to go to Epic to buy a ticket that includes USF and IOA. People would completely skip USF once Epic opens, other than for Mardi Gras and HHN.

I'd agree with you there, that's why I said about park goers to Universal being used to it. I think it helped that Universal didn't have some icon like Disney to try and keep on a pedestal all these years. I dearly miss certain Universal attractions but they really have been a company that has not been one to keep something around once they view its past its time, for Disney folks it's more that they seem to be steamrolling on so recently that you're (general you) not used to it.

Agree there although I think Studios at Universal needs some lovin' and I imagine eventually Universal will devote some time to that especially if the crowds are on Epic Universe

But for Disney everyone knows deferred maintenance has been the name of the game for them for a while now (was the case pre-pandemic as well) and it shows. But even their brand new stuff didn't seem to be of tough enough stuff. Toy Story land was showing much more wear and tear within a few months than most expected it to be. Alien Swirling Saucers seems to have a lot of trouble more than Mater's at DLR does. Rise, even with it be high tech, suffers from many breakdowns and from what I hear is like the Yeti where it's mostly in B mode with things just not working. Tiana seems to be having a lot of down time too and sure Splash had that but from what I'm hearing from my CM the animatronics in Tiana are causing quite an issue although guest behavior tripping sensors happens too.

I do enjoy how everyone with a “CM friend” is 100% in the know of what’s going on in the parks across the board. They could be a balloon girl, but she happens to know all of the operational challenges the park faces.

The new bus driver if you will

But they have completely redone it at least once since 1990, save ET and Horror Makeup. So essentially since 1990 Universal already built another completely new theme park regardless of whether some of the rides are liked or not.

I'm pretty sure the CEO often doesn't know what is going on forget about front line.

Okay and what they built is.....not great. Their latest 2 additions are cheap overlays that 1000% would've been hated across the board if they opened in a Disney owned park.

The main thing is that’s there’s a hierarchy, that said I’m sure there are things CMs talk to each other about/ spread rumors like any other workplace. I just find it laughable that people tend to have a CM that works as blanket coverage for everything in the park, from rides to popcorn buckets

Some of us know several CM’s, in several areas. CM’s often move around so they hear from friends in other areas.

IMO there’s too many people who have these “connections” on these boards. Who always somehow come up whenever someone is asserting something that doesn’t sound necessarily correct, and then wouldn’t you know the CM friend magically appears to settle the disagreement, and you can’t fight back, after all they are definitely a CM. It just seems to me like a convenient way to try and win an argument.

It’s also not any more information then what people tend to throw guesses at on the boards, it’s typically very vague and doesn’t give specifics like in the case above which animatronics are malfunctioning, and what they’re doing to try and alleviate the issue. They are only in the know to a specific end

Exactly. My DISer friend has been working for Disney since 2019 and has moved from transportation where they started to attractions and in attractions has been in multiple places in different parks. I've known them for a few years prior to them being a CM as well. My other DISer friend their daughter was a CM. There was a prior mod as well who was a CM and so on.

You're on a Disney board with 500K+ members, it increases the likelihood of people either being a CM or having a friend or relative be a CM.

Speaking of negativity I find that the main negativity in this thread is coming from your comments.

Like I said it just seems very convenient, especially whenever something is in question the CM comes to settle the matter.

On top of that you do t really see anyone with a positive view of Disney drawing up CM friends, typically it’s usually used to assert a negative view of Disney.

I can’t help how you feel about my comments, I like to think of them as challenging assertions that I don’t agree with. If you find that negative there’s not much I can do from my end.
