WDW Amazing Race for adults?

LOVE the idea! though I'd need the kid version - not a true Dis fan I guess 'cause I didn't know most things listed - ha.

what about using the phonebooths for something? Of course I don't have a clue what - just thought it could be neat to use. :rotfl:

Sounds like soooo much fun!
How creative and a unique way to enjoy the Parks!
Your friends should have a blast!
Could you make them take laps at their hotel pool or maybe bestow some kindness upon other park guests, like give out a dozen stickers, gum balls, whatever?
Maybe you could have a big reward for the winners, like everyone else pitches in for their meal at a Sig Restaurant or something?
You will all have a blast and your friends are lucky to have friends like you! :)

As a huge fan of the Amazing Race, I would love to do this! As the PP above stated, I would also pay to play!

You have a great idea here, Disney needs to know! (and maybe so does the Amazing Race)

This looks like so much fun! I'm going to check back after your trip and I hope to hear how it went! :)

Agreed! I'm green with envy. My friends are lame in comparison.

OP, have you considered going into business? People would sign up for challenges like this. Maybe trophies and gift cards as prizes.

This is a much more cool business model than the pixie event thing I've read about. Of course you'd have to change the name. :-)

A cool idea, but I don't live anywhere near Orlando! And I expect there are logistical and Disney coordination problems with running it often enough and on a large enough scale to make any money off of it.

Thanks for all the positive support, everyone! Unfortunately, the information in my signature is off a year; it looks like the next possible time for this trip is either May or October 2014. People keep having weddings and kids, which gets in the way...

I came up with a way to fix the DHS leg, by moving the animation stuff to a roadblock and using a different type of picture hunt as the other side of the detour, and I've also added answers to the puzzle in parentheses for the thread readers to see, so the leg is now:

Leg 3: DHS leg.

Route Info from France: Take a pleasant boat ride to the next location, where you can pick up the next clue by crates scheduled to ship to Tara Planation, Bialystock & Bloom Theatrical Producers, and Xanadu Compound. (The crates next to Min & Bill's Dockside Diner).

Detour: Be the Star or Find the Goof

Be the Star:

DHS was conceived as, and still largely is, a celebration of movies throughout history. And in many places, you can play the lead (though the Superstar Television attraction sadly no longer exists). To complete this roadblock, capture the following photos:

* A teammate playing the Gene Kelly role in Singin' in the Rain (1952)--complete with rain. (Telephone pole umbrella setup by Streets of America).
* A teammate playing Luke Skywalker on a speeder bike in Return of the Jedi (1983)--bonus points for including a lightsaber in the shot. (Speeder bike outside Star Tours)
* A teammate playing a kid in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989), getting sneezed on by a giant dog. (Honey I Shrunk the Kids playset)
* A teammate pressing his or her handprints into the Graumann's Chinese Theater walk of fame--or at least Florida's equivalent. (Walk of Fame outside GMR)

When you've got pictures of all of them, check in at a coffee shop that used to be a bookstore on Ellen DeGeneres's sitcom for your next clue. (The Writer's Stop)

Find the Goof: Some things at DHS are just wrong. Figure out what they are and take a picture:

A subway station that doesn't really exist. (NY Subway station with completely wrong lines on Streets of America)
A Scrabble game that didn't follow the rules. (Sign in Pixar Place showing a Scrabble Board that says "You've Got a Friend in Me," where the tiles aren't continuous)
A Statue of Liberty with a non-human Lady Liberty (Miss Piggy fountain outside Muppetvision)
A lion that's really a dog. ("Lions" outside the Chinese Theater).

When you've got pictures of all of them, check in at a coffee shop that used to be a bookstore on Ellen DeGeneres's sitcom for your next clue. (The Writer's Stop)

Roadblock: Who wants to be a Disney animator? Both teammates must try their creative hands at the following places:

Draw a character at the Animation Academy.
Create a sound track for an animated movie at the Sound Stage.

Show your video and drawing at the Animation courtyard to get your last clue.

Route Info: Wrap up your day at the most accurately named Pit Stop, by DHS's mechanic shop for, if you wish, a traffic light margarita (The stand near Lights, Motors, Action).

Disney is *nuts* if they don't take this idea, get ahold of the Amazing Race people, and license the idea for a Disney specialty tour.

This is like a grown-up version of the old Kim Possible adventures from a few years ago.

Awesomeness.

I hope it works for ya!

Bump! Did the OP complete this? Has anyone else done something similar? Going to try for our girls trip to F&W this November.

for F&W, definitely have a whole day of F&W themed activities! I bet it could even add a 2nd day! Do half on one day and half the other paired with another park...

don't forget to get the festival passports and collect the stamps from around the world showcase!

This would be absolutely amazing!!!! At EPCOT you could also have them take pictures with cast members from each of the countries as an option. When we drank around the world they were very willing to be in our pictures!

I would so do this. 10 years ago I worked at disneyland's travel co. and every year there would be a scavenger hunt. Hunted in both parks for 1 night. My team won one year.

My only thought was for the task at belles. What if one of us doesn't get chosen to play a part.. Being as competitive as I am, I would be upset about wasted time there. Lol!

Dried crabs it is! Still need other examples of crazy things to try in other countries (there has to be enough to make it take a similar amount of time to the Sightseeing challenge). Odd-seeming drinks are OK too--maybe a shot of Aquavit at Norway? But it's not supposed to be things that are obviously tasty--nothing challenging about having a Karamell-Kuche caramel-covered cookie.

My expectation with difficult clues is that they can always ask a cast member, or if they have to they have cell phones. Which clues do you think are too difficult? The ones I think may be a little on the tricky side are:

MK: The Sonny Eclipse clue, but that should be very easy to Google if necessary.

Epcot: The quotation from Ayn Rand (It's front and center at the American Adventure pavilion, just go straight through the front door--and it should be easy to guess than it would be in the American Adventure pavilion somewhere), and the Nejjarine Fountain (fairly easy to guess it's in Morocco, and I'd bet a cast member can point you to it once you get there).

DHS: These are all supposed to be puzzle-ish, and I'd bet you can guess at least three of the items' general locations without exact knowledge of what you're looking for.

The trick with the Epcot post-ride stuff is that it's supposed to be somewhat challenging--a score to beat, a puzzle to solve, an unusual thing to do, etc. (but not something where they need to rely on luck to be picked--e.g., "ask Crush a question" or "Get a taste of a massive wave on the Pearl Harbor set.") What can I have them do with the manatees other than look at them? Is there something cool and interactive to do in The Seas' post-show? Wasn't there something weird to touch in that lab area by Turtle Talk?

For the DHS roadblock--my problem is that I don't want two scavenger-hunt type challenges in the same park. I was thinking of a Roadblock looking for movie scenes and props hidden throughout the prop (like Eddie Valiant's office from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?), but that seems too similar to the Detour Solve option. If I could find another Detour option, that would work too.

In the waiting area to Turtle Talk there ar screens with quizzes on them. Actually, in the Seas there are shark quizzes on screens in the room with the Giant Bruce!

Also, at the end of Spaceship Earth there is that virtual energy shuffleboard-like game that you have to play with a partner! I think you can get into that area without riding the ride, can't you? I know you can get into the Seas.
