WDW 8/17-8/26 (updated 8/31 in new thread, see siggy or last post)

The shirts are Great!!! :thumbsup2

Your daughter is a cutie! :cutie:

You'll have a blast a La Nouba!!! :banana: :woohoo:
(Never been...but I've heard...)

When ya gonna post more??? :confused:

Well, it’s a busy a busy Saturday here in Baltimore. Lots of shopping, cleaning, errands and packing to do. :eek:

But the weather is absolutely gorgeous – low 80’s and not humid!! :woohoo: Considering it’s been hovering at 100 degrees all week and when you walked outside, the humidity smacked you in the face….this is awesome.

Okay, over the past few weeks, I have been building a pile of junk….no no no, I mean, a pile of vitally necessary items to take on my vacation. We’re talking granola bars, waterproof cameras, sunblock, etc….well see for yourself.

Note the free drinks coupon from Southwest. :rolleyes: (I’ve explained to my husband that it might be inappropriate to be swigging down alcoholic beverages on our 6:30 AM flight. I know it’s 5 o’clock somewhere, but still…..maybe we’d be better off using them on our flight home. Noon on a Sunday, still not the greatest, but we’ll probably need them by then.

Speaking of husband, since I’ve been calling them “husband” and “daughter” all this time, let’s try this:

Me = Lisa
Husband = Jim
Child = I’m gonna protect her privacy just a bit, so let’s call her Tink, okay?

All right, that’s much better. And easier for me to deal with.

Well, so on to today’s errands. Divide and conquer. Jim got up at the bum crack of dawn to give blood (cuz he’s nice that way) and was then off to Jiffy Lube and afterward to Home Depot to collect lime green mickey heads as instructed. Lastly, he was to go to the bank for cash, and to get $1 bills so we could fill up mousekeeping envelopes.

Tink and I were in charge of grocery shopping, with instructions to not buy too much for this week. (We had Nathan’s hot dogs for lunch today – I know, fellow peeps, very fattening, but we each only had one.) Then we went to get haircuts. I’m a bit peeved that the lady cut my bangs too short – how attractive that will be for all the pictures! Oh well, it’s just hair….I’m going on vacation! After haircuts, we returned all our library books and dropped our Netflix at the post office.

After we all met back up at home, we made a Target run (are you jealous --- my Target is within walking distance), and bought antiseptic wipes, toothbrushes, tums, and assorted other important stuff.

We’ve spent this afternoon doing laundry and putting piles of clothing on the bed to be packed. Does anyone else find it amazing when they start putting together the clothes to be packed, and realize they have, like 10 different Disney shirts? I think we could almost bring enough to wear a different Disney shirt every day of our vacation. Maybe we should stop buying shirts as souvenirs, hmm……so we’ve got shirts, shorts, understuff, one nicer outfit each for La Nouba, bathing suits, water shoes.

By the way, I just couldn’t bring myself to buy a pair of crocs, but I did find some very cute OP (like those little corduroy shorts, remember?) sandals – they look kinda like Tevas for $10 on clearance. Pretty good, huh? They will be perfect for our Universal (IOA) and Animal Kingdom days, when we’re likely to get wet. Although, let’s think about this a minute – we’re going to Florida in August, we might be wet EVERYDAY! That reminds me, got to pack those ponchos….. :idea:

I may have to break down and actually write out a list of stuff to take, as I’m starting to get worried that I may forget something. Maybe Dismom will write it for me……she’s better at it than I am.

:hourglass Countdown is at 6 days now – say it with me, WOO HOOTY! :woohoo: :woohoo:

check out this card we got from Disney this week - cute!

The Peter Pan thing is a welcome card from the manager at Port Orleans with suggestions of stuff to do at the resort. I really like when they personalize the stuff they send. We have up on our bulletin board a card from Universal that says "This vacation has the Zerr's written all over it" which I also thought was cool.

And yes, the whole Girl Scout troop ate at "The Lady and Sons" buffet. OMG, was it ever good! :dance3:

I think I spend half my life at our Target -- and they must have half my salary! :rolleyes:

I love buying all the little stuff for vacation!

Me too -- what other time could you justify buying such teeny tiny items? I think it's the only time I'm not buying giant industrial-sized stuff! :upsidedow

Just got back from shoe shopping for Tink for back to school. It seems like those sneakers get pricier every year, don’t they? We even did the buy one, get one half price, and the cost for 2 pairs of shoes was still $70! Yikes! :scared1: I do get a kick out of the fact that Vans are back in style – I sure remember wearing those back in the day. I think my brother had the black and white checkered ones.

Tink was kind enough to decorate all of our Mousekeeping tip envelopes – aren’t they cute? :thumbsup2

We have filled ‘em up, so they are ready to go.

At this point, I think we will comfortably have one large, one small suitcase to check through, and a backpack for the parks. Jim is also bringing the fanny pack, in hopes of occasionally not having to bring the backpack. If we can avoid it on our Universal Studios day, that would be good, since many of the rides have free lockers outside that you are required to use for your stuff. It’s great that they’re free, but when it’s crowded, it can be a pain. The less carried around, the better.

I was checking out Mousesavers to see if I could improve my rental car rate……boy, am I glad I made my reservation back in June. The rates have gone right through the roof. Right now, my rate comes in at least $100 under anything else out there. Guess I was pretty lucky. :hippie:

We’ll also be bringing our portable dvd player, and a supply of I Love Lucy dvd’s (our favorite show :love: ), for when we get tired of watching the WDW infomercials at the resort.

By the way, isn’t it cool that I will get to meet DisneyJo? I know! :woohoo:

I’m hoping to squeeze time during our vacation to do some of the extra things – a water park, a carriage ride at Port Orleans, the Electric Water Parade, and maybe even a boat rental. I guess the planner in me will have to sit back a little, and see if we’re able to make some of those things happen. I’ve also been practicing a little bit with my camera, so I will hopefully have some good shots of the trip (not just the cut-off tops of people’s heads). :goodvibes

Overall though, I’m just happy to have the family spend time together – that’s what it’s really about, right? :hug:

Till next time…..

Eh, probably not -----but it'll still be fun!
