WDW 5th Park - 2015?

Well, I don't see the sense in building the fifth park on the TTC lot. For one, if they move the parking to a parking structure behind the Poly and GF, then they'll just have to spend extra money on a whole new TTC with an extra monorail stop in between the Poly and the GF. Why would they do that when the current TTC works pretty well? Plus the cost of building a parking structure instead of a parking lot. Plus having to deal with ways of getting people across the street that goes by GF and SOG to the new monorail station- they would probably have to build a bridge going up over the street or something. Plus, that would have to be one heck of huge parking structure to accomodate both MK and a new park, they'd probably need at least a 20 or 25 thousand space parking structure LOL. This just doesn't seem likely.

In my opinion, Animal Kingdom still needs to be completed. I went there for the first time in August and I was not too thrilled. Grant it - I was in the middle of that hot August sun and could not stay there too long.

They designed this park without any shade???

I think they should fix their existing parks before they open a new one.

Also, although I love MGM - on my last trip I started to feel that it needs a lot of changes. New attractions and shows.

EPCOT - is still great, but I would like to see new rides in some of the countries.

Magic Kingdom is perfect in everyway.

Disney Quest (I feel is a waste of time).

A new park when the others need work, is not the greatest strategy. Quality before quantity.

Perhaps the bods in Disney have decided it's a good time to get the planning permission done. Maybe Disney feels that it is only a matter of time before the Florida legislature starts slowing down on allowing development of the area, due to the demands being placed on the infrastructure. It would avoid putting the State government in a difficult position of refusing the building of homes, while allowing "big business" to redevelop huge projects.

By getting the plans approved now, it could be a very cheap option, even if the plans never come to fruition. JMHO

I can certainly see the logic in making the application to have a multistory parking facility somewhere on Disney and a park in that area. While Disney has a huge amount of space, it has restrictions on the use of a lot of that land. I have always felt the car parks in their current form are a huge waste of space, as time goes by that land is getting more precious and will get more protected.

I think Disney is most likely looking 20-30 years ahead and taking steps to protect that future.

I think a fifth park should be a little farther away, for example on the other side of World Drive from Epcot.

Except there are other factors that lean towards putting the fifth park near the TTC.

There has been at least one rumor that Disney would like to do away with teh parking lot trams,l safety being one issue. This is an incentive to convert to multi level parking structures with moving sidewalks.

With most of the parking lots at TTC thereby decommissioned, there is a natural urge to put something new there as opposed to tearing down trees elsewhere.

I could see the parking structures near the TTC with the new park extending up against the raceway. Supposedly there would be some buffer zone around the Polynesian and also a good way to hide the parking structures from view on that side.

I actually think this would be a great location for a 5th gate - as long as it was another DisneySea! Where better to put a WDW DisneySea than on the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Of course, the Poly isn't the Hotel MiraCosta, but they could do something similar for the Poly to be an in-park/park-view sort of resort, and they wouldn't have to build a new resort to do it. They already have the lagoon there for the waterfront... And can you imagine what the fireworks would be like from the Grand Floridian if they had 2 parks shooting them off at the same time?

It's sure an interesting idea. I think the DisneySea theme would fit into the plot of land fairly well.

Mur!

I agree with those who are suggesting that a new park isn't likely to cause people to extend their stay. However, isn't there more to it than getting those who are already coming to extend their stay? There is the possibility that it would draw new people, and clearly the parks as a whole could handle more guests. The on-site resorts in turn would likely get more guests, and get back closer to that full occupancy they used to get in the old days.

I want it all. As one of those people who stay more than a week i would love a 5th park. At the same time I would love nothing more than to see continued investment in the existing parks. I really don't care where a new park would go. I would hate to see a large parking structure at WDW, I would miss the tram rides, hey, it's half the fun at times watching how many idiots keep running and trying to squeeze on after the CM has pleaded for several times for no more boarding.
