Hi folks Grumpy here, really really grumpy actually

Looks like the dream has died..............temporarily. Our travel firm, TravelCityDirect have gone out of business so as I type this now it looks like we will not be winging our way across on Monday. Still we should get our money back so we will look to re-book at some point this year............. hopefully. Not told the kids yet, Oh lord thats not gonna be fun! Still Di and I are trying to keep it in perspective, its not like Disney have gone out of business, theres a scary thought for you Am still praying for some kind of miracle but frankly its not looking good at present.

There are thousands of folk affected by this and at least we got some warning, cannot imagine what it feels like to actually arrive at the airport to discover this news.

May post back later if I can bear too.

It was both the travel company and the airline so the whole package was wrapped up in the one firm. Once we have told the kids hopefully we will feel a bit better but its hard to judge how they will take it. If we can assure them its just a delay and we will get to go this year once we are refunded then hopefully that'll make it easier.

Fingers crossed we can actually get something booked soonish.

The kids are very quiet right now, most unlike them. There were a lot of tears, have to say at various points today we have both been sobbing. I keep saying to myself that there are worse things that can happen and folk go through far worse than a simple cancelled holiday but frankly this is far and away the highlight of my year, hell I live for Disney, its all that keeps me sane....that and my lovely wife and kids of course, legally I have to add that last statement...

Breaking News:

Have spent the last 1 1/2hrs in a travel agents. We will get our money back for definate (hopefully in the next 4-6 weeks), and I have just sent off all the documentation for that just now.
We have also booked up with Virgin Holidays (I'm fairly sure they won't go bust...if they do Richard Branson will just have to sell Necker Island to keep the business going)
And..... we're booked to fly from Gatwick(ugh!) on 31 October to Orlando staying at POP for 2 weeks, with DDP!!!!!!! The system wouldn't let the agent book Disney park tickets, but let her book DDP along with accomodation????? She's on the phone to Virgin still, trying to get the park tickets, but it's manic here at the moment - so many people caught up in this bankrupty, Virgins phones were inundated.
But, so far, we're still going!!
Am not going to get too excited though till I have it all in official Virgin documentation!

I was positively rolling over your trip report until I got to today's posts. How awful! I am so sorry. Regardless of the money, having the trip yanked away like that is just cruel. I'm glad that you'll be getting your money back and that you were able to rebook but I am SO sorry that this happened.

On the bright side, the "closer" bag should be back in stock by the end of October, no?

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your support during this, frankly, terrible day (I want to say something else but would get kicked off DIS).
At least we're booked up again! I wasn't keen on booking again before we get our refund (me being a thrifty Scot), but ATOL (who deals with the claim) said we were definately covered and would get our money back, though couldn't say exactly when.
When we were in the travel agents this afternoon just looking at prices for later in the year the holidays were literally being booked up and taken off the systems before our eyes. And Elaine, our lovely travel agent (and new best friend!) just phoned to say she's booked the Disney tickets now as well. Luckily DHs sister stays in London, so hopefully we will drive down the day before and stay overnight with her before going to Gatwick.
I just had to jump for it or I could see us not getting anything this year at all! See, I can impulse buy!

I need to phone Disney reservations tonight to cancel our ADRs, especially CRT and try and redo our itinery and get some new ones - fingers crossed we get similar ones! Also need to cancel and get refund on MNSSHP - just after I got my costume as well!

Feeling more positive, but to be honest, i don't think I'll totally relax now until we get to POP!

I'm glad you are rebooked, and for this year.
It is tough to have the countdown go backwards.
I know what you mean about not relaxing till you are at Pop.
I always worry about my flight, and feel so relieved when I am off at my destination airport.
Especially since we often travel in Feb.

Good luck with the refunds, I hope you get them soon.

I hope you can rework the ADR's and scheduling.

I was getting excited that you were leaving in just a few days and then I saw your trip has been postponed! How heartbreaking to have that happen just days before your trip. But it's wonderful that you'll be there at the end of October! Now you have more time to plan and be excited

I would agree, but this is the 2nd time she's done it!!!! 2 years ago she gave herself a fringe and layers...quite a complicated style for a 5 year old working with a pair of nail scissors. I feel like we should do a Sleeping Beauty - instead of spinning wheels we should banish all scissors.

Better change the subject before my blood pressure rises again - what could possibly calm me? I know, our trip to WDW!!!

Last Friday of our holiday We head to Hollywood Studios again, do any of the rides we missed before. Will also see Car Stunt Show, apparently it's being revamped the first week we're there, but will be up and running this day.

Also just read on DIS that HSM show is stopping 13 Sep and restarting in October!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it, we'll miss seeing it!!!! No fair!!!

After being forced to watch HSM/HSM 2/HSM the concert/The Suite Life HSM repeatedly on Sky +, and listening to the CD's I am now a huge fan!

I think I mentioned before my motto is 'Get'cha Head in The Game', well I also know the lyrics (off by heart) to Bop to the Top, Fabulous, and Breaking Free can move me to tears.

I can't believe we'll miss it, will just need to see Beauty and Little Mermaid again.

Anyway, will grab a CS lunch and then head off to Epcot for our 750pm ADR at Akershus. We'll miss Fantasmic but we plan to see it our first day at HS. Will need to remember to take one of DD's Princess outfits for her to change into for her dinner with the Princesses.

DS says he's not keen on it...I think a picture speaks a thousand words though...
