WDW 1/2 Marathon

Any other campers participating in the 1/2 marathon in January? This will be our first and I'm really excited! Walking, not running! DH is supposed to walk as well but has knee issues so i may be going solo!

Hey, I'll be doing the Goofy, staying at POP this time (wish I was staying at Fort but short weekend trip, heading back to the Fort for Spring Break week ), you will love the Half marathon! It is a well hosted event, VERY crowded, be sure to get there plenty early in the morning because literally THOUSANDS of people will be walking from the gathering area to the starting line and it takes a while to move that many people, as well as port-a-potty lines will be long ! I hope you have a great time, if you do go solo you will likely be able to strike up conversations with others as you walk the course!

Hi we will be there for the maraton. MY son, grandson will be running. Grandson doing the half son doing the full. We have been going down for the race for the past 6 years.. They really enjoy it Disney does everything big. But as someone else said it will be crowded. I know for the full they leave the campsite by 4:30 in the morning. They really enjoy running thru the parks. They have the castle all lite up and play music it's alot of fun. Grandma that's me I always go the MK to watch them run thru there. You will have a great time.

Thanks for the encouragement! A friend of mine did the 1/2 a couple of years ago while we were there and it was actually her 1st time at Disney. We on the other hand would live at the Fort if we could! Anyhow - I was green with envy when I saw her Donald medal....so I admit that was where my initial interest started. Then, last year we there at the same time and met alot of people who were participating and I started to get excited about it. Really needed to have a goal that incorporated something healthy...so I decided to give it a shot and hopefully will make it an annual thing.

Now....if they would just release the Florida Resident Rates for January!!

LOL! We were there last year and when I saw all those cool marathon medals, I had the same exact thought! Although I've done nothing about making my dream a reality. Have a GREAT time!!!!
