We can't make up our minds about which one we want to try on our next trip. The menu looks similar. Which do you prefer for food quality? What about the entertainment value?

Our party consists of 4 adults (2 of them elderly) and 2 children (8 and 6; one of them is painfully shy). I don't want to go anywhere that will make the shy one too uncomfortable.

TIA.

Whispering Canyon is just a restaurant with some waiter/waitress antics thrown in, plus the little one can do the pony race.

Hoop Dee Do is more of a show with dinner. We've done over 15 shows thru the years and it never gets tiring. Though corny, it's fun for all ages. Pioneer Hall is not really huge, old time stage, piano player and banjo guy are the musicians. The show does have a theme and is easy to follow, we laugh even though we know the thing by heart. Food is down right American cuisine, best fried chicken we know of, ribs, salad and great strawberry shortcake, plus all the pop, beer and wine is included. We pay the price for Cat. 1 seating, want to be right down front with the action and performers and have never regretted going one bit nor the price. Others balk at the price but figuring a pitcher of beer at 15 bucks, 2 pitchers=30 bucks plus wine, heck the shows worth the cost alone.

WE have been to both, and I really enjoyed both, but I would say go for HDDR if you have to chose. It is really fun. I will have to say my DD doesn't eat much though, because her eyes are glued to the stage. We have sat in front up against the stage, and in the balcony, and both are really fun. The cast comes up in the balcony too, so no one is left out.

Love them both but love HDDR more! It's such a great show, and has fantastic food! In fact, I like it so much I'm having my wedding reception there in September!

HDDR all the way. The food is very good "down home cooking" and the show is a blast. If you like singing and dancing and corny jokes you will like it here. Plus I don't think there is any risk of your painfully shy child feeling any pressure at the HDDR
Have a great trip

These are two vastly different dining experiences. WCC is a restaurant where the servers do a few antics while you eat. HDD is a dinner theater where the show is the star.

HDDR all the way! We did not really enjoy our meal at WCC. But none of us got the skillet which is what everyone says is so good. We just weren't that hungry. The bottomless milkshake was the highlight of the meal for my daughter. We enjoy the food at the HDDR and really love the show! It is my husband's choice for his 65th birthday dinner this May. My daughter has grown up with the show (now 18) and loves it as well.

Totally worth the money in our opinion.

We've never done HDDR, but I picked that one as I would pick any restaurant (except H&V) over the WCC -- terrible, disgusting food and really bad service.

Wow; no votes at all for WCC!

Is there any part of the audience interaction at HDD that would make my shy daughter uncomfortable?

Only if she is having a birthday. And even then, she doesn't have to admit it.

There was a wedding party there when we wwent this past March!

There is nothing even remotely similar about the two. In fact, they are our family's best and worst dining experiences in WDW, with HDDR being the best, and WCC being the worst.

I mean overall experience; we don't love HDDR just for the food, the show great, very corny (the food is good, but very plain)! I think it would be enjoyable for everyone in your party.

I would definitely do HDDR once.

If you dont like corny, hee-haw type comedy, dont goto the HDDR. If you wont let yourself have fun with jokes that you can see the punchline coming from Georgia, dont go. :) I've been to it twice, and the last time a buddy of mine met my wife and I and we went to the HDDR. There was one part that my buddy and I started laughing SOOOO hard, that the table next to us started. We were the 2nd row back so the performers could for sure see us / hear us, and I really do think they had one of those "live sketch" moments, where they were about to start laughing. It was almost "unBEARable" people that have been there will know what I'm talking about. They had to take a couple of seconds to work thru it :lmao: And BTW, this was without us having any 'adult beverages' (which are included)

The food IMO is great, BUT I'm a simple guy. So ribs, chicken, taters, corn bread etc IMO are just 4 food groups :)

Of course HDDR is much more expensive, and it will be a 2 hour show basically (I think closer to 1:45 but still). WCC is fine for a meal, we've done it and asked for ketsup and asked for refills too often, and the food was fine, but not anywhere close to the experience as HDDR..

My DS(15) who never admits to liking anything likes HDDR, and he was the only one who loved his meal at WCC and he didn't get the skillet. I wouldn't consider WCC an actual experience. It really is just a loud, fun restaurant.
