I want to eat at WCC but have a question about how to get back to my resort. I will be staying at Riverside and thought I would take bus to MK after meal and then jump on bus back to my resort. Is this the quickest way?

If it's before 10 PM and Magic Kingdom is open (or closed within the last hour or so), take the boat to MK then the bus to your hotel.
If MK closed early and there are no more buses departing, take a bus from WL to any open park, then change buses.

You may want to save up some money for a cab ride...

Last year we ate at WCC and finished around 9:30 PM. Since there were no parks open, we could not board the busses for the parks. The drivers would not allow it. Two busses came by for the ticket and transportation center that refused to allow people to board. We had to wait 45 minutes for a bus for Downtown Disney to finally arrive. When we got to the market place at downtown disney, the line for the buses for All Star Resorts was unbelieveable. It would have taken atleast 10 buses for all the people to get on line.

I told my husband and son to get back on the bus and we took it to the West Side. Interestingly, there was next to nobody there. We were lucky enough then to get a non-crowded bus that came by quickly. But on the way back it stopped at the Grand Floridian (which had a huge line of people who ate at 1900 Park Fare) During this lengthy detour, they filled up the bus and we finally got back to our resort shortly before midnight.

In short, I had told my husband when we left it would have been easier to take a cab. He agreed it would have been worth the 10-15 dollars.

We have the same issue for our August trip - after some deliberation we are going to drive to Wilderness Lodge in the morning (I'm assuming here that we can park at the resort as we are staying at another resort?) and take the boat to MK for the day. We'll take the boat back across for a 6:30pm ADR at WCC and then grab the car and go back to POR after the meal.

Not necessarily. Parking long-term at any resort is for registered Guests of that resort. Guests visiting for dinner, shopping, etc, may not be permitted to leave their cars at another resort for hours on end. Some resorts issue three-hour parking passes.

Best advice is drive to the Magic Kingdom parking lot; park; visit the park; return to your car and drive to the Wilderness Lodge.

GreatLakes5 - I don't think that will work. AFAIK you can only park in a resort's lot if you are a guest at that resort or if you have an ADR at one of that resort's restaurants (in which case your parking privilege is limited to 3 hours). My suggestion would be to drive from POR to TTC in the morning, then when it is time to go to your ADR, go back to your car in the TTC lot and drive over to WL. Of course, only one of you needs to go get the car, the rest of you could take the boat from MK to WL and meet your driver there. They might have some better ideas for you over on the resorts or the transportation boards.
