That's what I used to do. When I first moved to Lansing, the whole time I was pregnant (up until 8 months) and then until Tyler was about 2 years old. I only worked about 20 hours a week and had FULL insurance coverage for both of us for free. I barely paid a dime for my pregnancy and received short term disability (my full pay) when I was off at the end of my pregnancy and for 3 months after I had him. It was an awesome job! I worked at the airport marshalling in the airplanes, unloading and loading packages. I loved it! It was fun and great exercise. I worked 3am-7am Tues - Sat. I had a roommate at the time, so I just left Tyler sleeping and he always got up at 7am, so my roommate got up with him until I got home and then she'd go back to bed or get ready for work.I have a friend who does this same thing for UPS. It is grave yard though![]()
How sweet! Sorry I missed it. First boy scout meeting! The meeting last week was just for parents to try to get everything organized and volunteers for everything. This was the first time the boys came.He just sent me a big hug & kiss![]()

I'm trying to get it to play on my crappy computer that doesn't cooperate with ANYTHING I try to do.Dad's on until 9pm
Tyler LOVED it! His dad, not so much. I wanted to slap that man. Or maybe beat him with the same hammer I'm going to use on my crappy computer. How was it? Did Tyler enjoy it?
Nope, no luck with my piece of junk. I get a black box that says ready, then when I push the blue arrow, nothing happens. It says "connecting to media" and then goes back to where it looks like it wants me to click the blue arrow.Dad's on until 9pm

So your dad is a DJ? What a fun job that would be!No worries - old jazz music. It was just good to hear his voice![]()
I'm glad Tyler's dad brought him, Tyler had a great time, I had fun, but it was NOT fun having his dad there. He kept fidgeting, and saying things like, "How long is this thing gonna last?" and "When is this supposed to be done?" and "I can't do this every week if we'll have to be here so long." and "We've got things we need to do, we still need to get his prescription and get his bath and get him to bed." and "Why do I have to fill out these papers? Why do they want all my information? I don't want to get roped into doing stuff I don't want to do. Nobody better call me and pester me to volunteer".

I told him things are still in the organizational process, trying to get every position assigned, so this meeting will be longer. I assured him that the weekly meetings are only 6:30-7:30 because it will only be the Tigers (there are 4 so far) compared to tonight which was the whole pack (still only about 15 kids). I although he might get a phone call now and then asking for his help, but he can always say no. I told him he doesn't even really have to fill anything out if it bothers him.![]()
He grumbled about having to sell popcorn and told me nobody likes it when people ask them to buy things, etc. Tyler looked at me worried, and I assuredly whispered to Tyler not to worry, that we'll keep going on streets in our neighborhood. He told me his dad wouldn't let him last night, but I told him not to worry, we'll do it.When I dropped Tyler off last night, he changed into the scout uniform before I even left and he was telling his dad they need to go through the neighborhood and sell popcorn. He was SOOOOO excited, but his dad wouldn't do it. He let him go to ONE neighbor's house.

You should have seen the shock on his dad's face when I told him Tyler's sold $220 so far with me. NOBODY else in the pack has started selling yet.So we're going to keep going!
So your dad is a DJ? What a fun job that would be!
I'm off to my first pack meeting. We are going to the fire station. I'll be back.
I know, I was so ticked off at him! BUT....the important part is that he CAME. You know I was so worried about whether he'd even bring Tyler. I introduced his dad to all of the other parents who I met last week and when he and Tyler left early, his dad did tell the others he'd see them next week, so that's a bonus! And once his dad starts seeing how much fun Tyler will have doing the activities to earn badges and stuff, I really think he'll start getting more interested. I keep reminding myself how long it takes him to come around. In ALL situations. The point is, so far he's always ended up doing the right thing in the end, so I'm hopeful this will be the same.I'm glad Tyler's excited - can't believe his dad though. It makes me sowhen I see a parent not really being a parent.
Too bad you'd have to ship something to me if I bought anything - would probably defeat the purpose![]()
Well, I thought they were both retired, that's why this just confused me. Thanks for the clarification! Still, how fun for him!Not a job - a hobby. He has 2 shows a week...1 usually dedicated to Glenn Miller & the other one (Thursdays) to jazz in general.
Both he & my mom are retired.
Oh cool! How fun! I'm just getting back from scouts and you're just going to scouts.I'm off to my first pack meeting. We are going to the fire station. I'll be back.

I'm pissed at his reaction today, but want to give him the benefit of the doubt in light of how much he's changed lately.[/COLOR]
