WBRepo-Ship of Thieves-Remember the Magic Pt6

Good morning. I would love to be on the ship on New Year's Eve since it is our anniversary. I actually found one to Hawaii and it wasn't that expensive but it wasn't Disney. Why do they have to be so darn expensive? Let me know what the TA says. I'm sure it will be a lot though.

I'm thinking of the new years one too....the kids would only have to miss a couple of days of school.

When is it and where is it going? I'm not sure where you guys are finding some of this stuff.

Ok we made a final decision - we are doing the TA Eastbound Repo - kids are homeschooled, we leave the day after my husband's 39th birthday and will be on board for my son's 13th birthday and I will have just turned 40 so I can have a mid-life crisis disney style.

We have decided to stick to a category 10- if we made it through the PC Repo in one we can do it again - the only time we wished we had a window was going through the PC so no biggie this time.

Now I just have to decide if we will stay a few days more doing europe and visiting family in Austria and Germany.

We're doing the 1st Baltic! We're not eating between now and then, but hey we can stand to lose a few pounds! Anyone else looking at this one?

So far we only have people interested in the TA but it sounded like Marilyn would do Baltic if John agrees but she is on vacation and won't be home until later. I know you'll have a great time :goodvibes

Yep :thumbsup2

Right there with you. I've been needing to drop some weight anyway.

Hi, we're back home after a long day, but a good journey. I will have to reply in bursts as there is so much to reply to!!!

Marilyn.. you did indeed go through the Adirondacks... You went to Lake Placid which is the ONLY place to ever host the Winter Olympics TWICE!!! 1932 and 1980!!!

I'm about an hour and 1/2 south of there... beautiful country....

So... does this mean since you've already been to my part of the world that you wouldn't come to visit again?

Ah yes, Lake Placid. The whole area was beautiful, but the place was closed really. We enjoyed our short trip which was a business one in Boston at the beginning and end of our trip. So we went off to Niagara Falls as it was less expensive than staying in or around Boston a that time of year.

We would visit again!!!:thumbsup2

Twisting my arm are you???

Ask Marilyn how well THAT works... :rotfl2:

Doesn't work, she's stubborn!:rolleyes1

I'm suppose to be making a list but I don't think anyone is a definite yet. Everyone can PM me when they decide. It seems like a few are saying TA but never mentioned the direction. I looked up the weather and it is hotter in Sept.

I favour September for that reason. :)

The places I looked up said about 65 in April and 80 in Sept. Barcelona, Madeira. Cadiz was 72 (April) and 87 (Sept)

Mild and pleasant mostly, but not in the middle of the Atlantic!

OK Here is my Pronouncement (Though Not Yet Etched in Stone)

When I got home from work, I finally had time to look over everything.

We would LOVE to do the Baltic, but I nearly fell over at the prices. I just don't think we can swing that (or want to). I wish I could, but $8 +/- grand for the two of us is a little too rich for my blood.

Soooooo .... we are seriously considering a Transatlantic (TA to you riff-raff).

Not sure which direction. Either would be fine with us. What would sway us is who is going.

WB would be the better weather by far.

Stop the Presses!

We are going to book the Eastbound cruise.

Not that this matters to anyone else around here, but I checked the west bound departure date (September 18, 2010) and it is Yom Kippur.

So, it would have to be the east bound in April for us.

Now, I thought departure was 14th, but of course I haven't looked seriously. If so you could be onboard for Yom Kippur.

Edit to say I did check and it is the 18th as you said. Sorry!!

Must say that I am probably dreaming too, but want to hold the res for now. If I go w/ DCL then I'll probably have to cxnl the Tortola cruise in 09. :sad1:

Will need to still check out the other cruise line prices too once they come out. I really want to do DCL but $2000 is alot of MULLA!

(KATHE - completely understand :thumbsup2 )

Ooooh, no, please don't cance Tortola.:sad1:

I will do some research about the weather/water for the TA in April. I just don't want to spend the time

When we looked at the QM2 for April all I read from other boards was that it could be cold and possibly rough. And that was going on an ocean liner!! The regulars said it wouldn't be worth having a balcony and you would need warm clothing and headscarves!!!:lmao:

Yep, the Baltic is out of the question on DCL. :scared1: The TA with a one way airfare would be much more possible. I'm attracted to the Westbound because of ending up in the Caribbean for a few days :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Plus it gives more time to save up $$ from my Sept 09 cruise.

(hmmmmmmm...wonder what three in a verandah would be????)

I'm with you on the September TA!!!:thumbsup2

CHRISTMAS ON THE MAGIC 2010

12/18 Magic:

PC
2 days at Sea
St. Maarten
Guadalupe
Barbados
Martinique
Day at Sea
St. Thomas
Day at Sea
Castaway Cay

(And the Wonder is doing a 7 day (Western itinerary) over Christmas)

no word on pricing at this moment (winotracy, a DU agent got this info)

Now that looks very nice. I could almost fancy that.

Well, during the ride home and while eating dinner, I've changed my mind a dozen times about what I want to do.

Since the 1/2 price deposit is still in effect, I was thinking of booking two cruises (Christmas and a TA ?) and just wait and see how things shake down. THEN I thought I should pick ONE and book for TWO people (maybe in a verandah) and just wait and see who would want to go/share with me. Then there will also be the non-DCL Plan B, a UK trip/non DCL cruise with my soul sister

I tell you, these prices are making it easier to expand my cruise horizons and look at other lines...especially for port intensive itineraries. The Christmas cruise only has three sea days....which once again, makes the TA the most attractive for being on a DCL ship. It's the sea days that I enjoyed the most on our PC. BUT, a lot of that had to do with all my cruise pals.

All this is making my brain hurt :headache:

P.S. I know what Suze Orman would tell me......................:sad2:

Oh... who listens to her....:upsidedow

Good morning all!

I emailed our travel agent last night and asked them to book a Cat 11 for us on the eastbound transatlantic. So, that's that.

Sounds good... will do the same when I am able... told mom to keep taking her pills so she is healthy!!!

Ok Marilyn... I'm answering yours...

Yes, you are invited to visit...

Yup... I'm stubborn...

Go in April....

The Magic is sailing WAY south of where the QM2 sails... not that it will be tropical... but I do owe you a scarf, now don't I???

We won't let her cancel Tortola...

& you can go at Xmas too...

OK???

Oh... and WELCOME BACK!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Ok.. my neighbor just put in 2 big trees today...

Apparently she doesn't realize that you have to rake leaves...

Hi Everyone! :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

Just popping on....I figure with the announcements today everyone would be chatting away. I have been swamped with work (current job and new one) as well as trying to heal myself! Phew, it's exhausting. I think the last time I checked in was on part 4 or 5

I hope everyone is doing great. I bet there are lots of plans being made for 2010....I think we are going to pass on any 2010 booking at the moment :sad2: :sad2:

I'll check in again......maybe life will slow down for me:lmao: :lmao:

Hiya Kaylee. Great to see you.

The Westbound goes to St Maarten and Tortatola too so that makes it more appealing to me. It is also warmer so the kids could swim :confused3

Warmth. sun, heat, blue sky, HOT, warm seas, warm rain. Why go in April?:confused3

Hi Monica!!!!

I am doing well....no change with the vision....but still lots of positive thoughts about waking one day soon with complete sight back! :)

Scott is doing well, dealing with my new eating habits (I have had to give up Gluten, Dairy and Eggs!) and enjoying his job.

The girls are great....we are in the middle of soccer season so life is crazy. School is going well and they both are having good years.

How about you?!

You keep positive Kaylee. Is the diet part of your holistic treatment?

I'm missing V :sad1: (lillygator)

(You to Venetia, but since I talk/read you often not so much :flower3: )

Me too, and others who we met too. I find that one of the saddest things about the whole experience. Those we met and now have disappeared.

OH WHERE IS MARILYN WHEN WE NEED HER!!!

Think we can talk her into it????

No!!! Not April.

YES

she said "I don't know whatever to do"

That sounds solid to me :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Now John is another story ;)

I'm drip feeding him. :lmao: Unfortunately he isn't really keen on sailing the Atlantic ocean on a cruise ship and would rather go on an specially built ocean liner. He watched a programme you know!!! So, we begin from a low place!!!

one way to barcelona from Vancouver, BC was $1900. Return was $1300 :confused3 But we'd probably wait for a seat sale (hopefully down to $300 per person) to Amsterdam and then take the train down to Barcelona

Just sit back and stay calm and chuckle to yourself and the office manager's antics. :lmao:

I talked to Ken tonight and :yay: we were both thinking the same thing :yay: . We're planning to book the Sept TA and if it doesn't work out, we'll change it to regular cruise.:thumbsup2

HI :wave2:

We might see you there. ;)

How close is Amsterdam to Barcelona? I just found a flight for us on 9-16 for 383 +218 taxes.

A long way!

Good morning all!

I emailed our travel agent last night and asked them to book a Cat 11 for us on the eastbound transatlantic. So, that's that.

Not really, you still could change it to a warmer September one.;)

Welcome Back Marilyn, I'm so glad you and John had a relaxing vacation in the sun.

Please consider doing the 11 night Southern Caribbean with us at Christmas. I think Jackie is interested in doing this one and so is Angel. John and I definitely want to do it.

No word yet from DU. I emailed my request to them yesterday and again today. Still nothing. That's not like Marla......my regular agent. She always gets back to me on the same day. I wonder what's going on.:confused3

I would quite like that Deb. 2 problems really are the air fares at that time of year and leaving the families here. Plus the cost of course.

I am all brain fried with thinking about all the cruises. :scared: :scared: Not knowing the costs is a real pain. I really don't think they are going to book up quickly seeing the range of the costs of the Baltic cruises which look ridiculous. Haven't checked the med as we wouldn't be interested. I'm gutted everyone is looking at the EB TA though.(Just in case you couldn't tell!!!:rotfl2: )

I think we could do the first Baltic, I will have to have a good think. Not that I haven't been thinking about it.:lmao: :headache: :scared:

JUst a quick post from me to say I might be seeing some of you again in 2010!!!

I'm leaning towards the April repo cruise. Mom wants to do the June 12 Baltic, but I dont think we can afford it. The Baltic prices are through the roof!!!

With this economy... they're gonna price themselves right out of there...:sad2:

I fully understand Marilyn. Because of the airfare, I can't go overseas. This trip appeals to me because no airfare is needed.

On the second issue, you have lots of family there that you should be with for the holidays. I only have Ray and the kid now. I can do Christmas with Ray on any date, he really won't know the difference and the kid can go have Christmas with his mom and little sister in Ohio. John and I are really flexible for the first time during the holidays. We wouldn't normally see Sandi and Joe and the boys either since they moved to FL. So we're free to do whatever we choose.

You'll pick the right cruise for you and John. I'm glad we're cruising again in 09 because we will miss each other during 10.
