Sometimes all it takes is PACKAGING! :thumbsup2

I knew a lady who bought cookies from the bakery part of the grocery store, took them home, put them in her Tupperware and took them to the event. When people raved about them and asked for the recipe, she said it was a family secret and she had promised her Grandma to never give it out. :rotfl:

Jan ;)

But homemade is usually cheaper so that's why I do it. I don't bake though.

Jan and Michelle, both of you.....thank you so much for all your concern, I promise not to take any steroids while on vacation. I will be tempted because I know how good they make me feel. But I won't do it because of the consequences afterwards.

I will just have to take it easy when I need to.....I just hope it's not all day, every day!

 How about a wheelchair?

Honestly--:thumbsup2

Since you are driving, you can rent it at home. You can get one with an elevating leg rest. The rental place can be sure you have the right size of leg support and that the calf-rests and foot plates are in the right place for you. Then when you are sitting and John is pushing, your leg is UP!!

When you are just sitting and people-watching, your leg is UP and you don't have to sit sideways on a bench.

If you want to walk, you can push it. And then you will have something to hold on to so you are taking some of the stress off the leg then too.

 Well, think about it anyway :confused3

I rented one when I took my Mother for her one and only WDW trip to see the Flower and Garden show at EPCOT (she and Dad were convinced they would not like WDW :confused3 even though both had enjoyed DL years earlier).

It was not very expensive and I sure had WDW castmembers helping me all over the place--holding doors and carrying trays. Felt like I was with the Queen Mum. princess:

Jan

We are going to Orlando in 6 days and we're staying for 6 nights. We'll be meeting with Monica and Lisa and Darrell and doing Epcot Food and Wine Festival. I'm soooooooooo excited.

September 29th is our 18th wedding anniversary. Usually we're on a cruise at this time of the year and then do WDW afterwards. But since we already cruised this year, we're only going to WDW.

It's funny how excited we're both getting. You would think that we had never been there before.:woohoo:

If you had not been there before you would be less excited. :thumbsup2

Now you know what to expect and where to go to see the things you want to see. That is why you are excited!

Jan ;)

But homemade is usually cheaper so that's why I do it. I don't bake though.

This lady did not bake or cook. She did take-out for everything except instant oatmeal and dry cereal I think.

If you sign up for baked goods at a party or meeting, you can copy her idea. People will think you did bake.

Jan ;) ;)

My mother was doing a project once a very long time ago and she asked me for my pictures of my first cat when I was 8 years old.....my favorite cat even to this day. I gave her the pictures and never got them back. I know it's not my husband or child, but they were still very special to me.

Jackie, that cat's name was gidget.

PS The project that mom was doing never got done.

Do you know what the project was?
Jan :confused3

Here's a kitty story for you Jill, I woke up this morning to Ella (cat) acting all kinds of happy and very excited. She brought me a present......a dead baby mouse!!!! EEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

EWWW! Mine had better not do that, although they bring me bugs at I hate that too.

Hoop-de-doo is really fun we have done it twice. THen we found Trails End Buffet same food but alot cheaper. THe food is AMAZING, fried chicken, cornbread, yum yum yum.

I am hoping to see Connie in Oct. when we check in for our cruise. We are still working on our plans for the cruise. The only people who sell ECVs around here told us they would evaluate him and it would be 3 months before he could get a chair!:headache: My mom is trying to find someplace else since the lady was also rude. We may just end up renting one. I am so exctied my sister tried on her dress from my wedding and is wearing it to formal night. I was tired of my formal dress so dragged out another on HS dress it fit so I am going to wear that. We both also have pirate costumes. My mom said she didn't want to dress up and I told her that was fine she didn't have too.

Ok here's my dilemma. My best friend's daughter wants to go. She is two years older than Brooke and I don't think they play together when we are all together because we have friends that have kids Brooke's age and this girl's age. This is my best friend since jr high and she really wants her daughter to go. I would like to take someone that Brooke would have more fun with. This girl is really mature, even for her age and then she is two years older. I can ask a friend at school that she plays with sometimes but not a lot. I know the mom and I'm pretty sure she would let me take her. I just feel bad because the other girl is my best friend. I already told her we couldn't take her no matter what but I could tell her I can take her. I feel really bad. I don't think she would take Brooke if the situation were the same because she has a lot of friends her age that would probably go.

What should I do?

sounds like you know that you don't want to invite the friends daughter and your reasons are sound. they are not close and they have the chance to be close. the age difference asside you can enjoy people younger and older (molly and brooke or molly and z) but that is really something that happens between 2 people regardless of what their mom's want to happen.

I talked to Lori and she said the Kristen loves her so that would be mean.

why is that mean? I don't get the attitude that both kids always have to go to things. Maybe because I have a boy & girl, but honestly I just don't think that is it. I just think kids get different opportunities in life and we as parents need to support each child in what their opportunity is and teach the other sibling to celebrate that for their sibling. (yes I know sometimes harder than it sounds)

good luck :flower3:

Deb - I had dinner w/ my cousins both Sat & Sun this past weekend & I believe I will be seeing them tomorrow night as well.

HDDR - it's a dinner & show at the Pioneer Hall in the Fort Wilderness Resort. There are usually 3 shows a night (5p, 715p, 925p). They give you salad, cornbread, fried chicken, ribs (very yummy), beans, mashed potatoes & strawberry shortcake for your meal. Most drinks are included too.

There is a show too. A variety show that is sort of a western style. We loved it and I think I laughed harder than I have ever laughed at the ending. Not sure if the show is the same now as it was 10 years ago, but I'd do it again for sure.

MONICA--GLAD YOU ARE SEEING AN UPSWING IN MOOD AND ENERGY!!

Nan, it's not just snow mobiling.....it's a snow machine (different) race in subzero weather with white out conditions that takes 8 days!!! I wouldn't want to do it!

Here's info on the Dog Sled race on the same trail:

Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, usually just called the "Iditarod", is an annual sled dog race in Alaska, where mushers and teams of typically 16 dogs cover 1,161 ..........

.........The Iditarod received more attention outside of the state after the 1985 victory of Libby Riddles, a long shot who became the first woman to win the race. Susan Butcher became the second woman to win the race, and went on to dominate for half a decade. Print and television journalists and crowds of spectators attend the start at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and D Streets in Anchorage, and in smaller numbers at the checkpoints along the trail.

I have a friend here in Indy who planned her time and money to go to Alaska to watch some of the race. There was a team of three or four women from Indy who raced that year too as I recall. Her husband did not want to go and he did not go. It was her passion!

I have another friend who moved from Indiana to the upper penninsula of Michigan so she could have sled dogs and train them to race. I do not know if she will ever try the Iditarod but she loves the snow, wind, speed and skill it takes to practice!

Some people love the cold and the winter. OUR HOLLY loves cold weather. The rest of us do not like it or tolerate it.

I think it is nice that there are weather options for individuals.

Jan :earsgirl:

I'll bet it's getting very pretty in the Poconos right about now! I am going to visit my son at Duke in NC in about a month. I sure hope there is still color on the trees in the mountains. I am going to drive part of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

MICHAEL?!?!? is at DUKE! COOL BEANS.

Say HI for us and have a good trip.

I know what you mean about the sibling thing but Lori didn't mention that Emily liked her. She just said that Kristen really did. She didn't say she didn't like her I just didn't get that impression. Plus I have a girl in mind at the school. I just didn't know if I should ask her or my friend's daughter.

Brooke wants to go for her birthday some day since we went for Ethan's but her birthday is in August. I don't know what I'll do if we go for his birthday again :scared1:

You can celebrate WHATEVER you want to celebrate WHENEVER you want to celebrate.

Just tell DCL that you are CELEBRATING HER birthday!!

Jan ::yes::

I'm trying to use this ticket to make Brooke popular. I'm already popular :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Take Bubba... in his pink wig... noone will notice he's a bit taller than them... ;)

Ya know Jan...

For YEARS my father LOVED my grandmothers coffee... SWORE up and down that it was the best coffee he's ever had!!! She used to put instant in the coffee pot and serve it... :rotfl2:

I know and the worse part is that the teacher sent home all the class work and homework for the two days she was absent and she insisted on doing it all last night. She took a two hour nap and then did her homework until bed time

WHAT A KID!! ::yes::

Do what you would like.....to take someone that Brooke would have more fun with.....ask the friend at school that she plays with sometimes. It's what you really would like to do and it's probably what Brooke would rather that you did. It makes sense to me.

Good Luck! Don't stress, enjoy!

A wheelchair would kill John pushing me around in the heat. I'm not exactly light in the weight department and John is not getting any younger.

Thanks for thinking of me though. We're going to get to the parks early and rent the things that I call scooters.....those electric ones. So I'll be able to drive around all day and that helps a lot.

My thing is that I'll be active for a week straight. I'll need lots of rest. If I'm too active without enough rest, I'll get very sick.....stomach naseau, head spins and migrains, overall pain.....then I sleep for about 24 hours and it goes away. I have auto immune deficiency, among other things, and I easily get ill. So I really have to pace myself.

That's why I used to take the steriods on vacation....I would never have that problem. They give me stamina as well as eliminating all the inflamation that I have throughout my body.....so that I could be active and stay that way while I was taking the pills.

If you had not been there before you would be less excited. :thumbsup2

Now you know what to expect and where to go to see the things you want to see. That is why you are excited!

Jan ;)

Oh, I think that even if I didn't know what to expect.....I would be excited! But what you said did make a lot of good sense.

I just love Mickey and spending time with John away from the daily grind, just playing together.....and Florida is my preferred playground. It's beautiful and the weather is always georgous and I have family and friends there to see. I'm excited.

OMG, Ella just brought me another baby mouse except that this one was alive. I grabbed her off of it and it ran away. There's got to be a nest of them somewhere in the house. John said he'll buy the poison tomorrow to get rid of them again.

Jill, it sounds like you have got everything all planned out and under control. You're going to have a fabulous trip.
