I'm dising all day because I'm procrastinating.....I don't want to go sort through my vacation clothes.......now that it's later in the day, I don't have to do it anymore. Maybe tomorrow!:lmao: :lmao:

Deb, I've procrastinated the day away! Will have to hit the shower and head out soon however, as I've only had some air popped popcorn so far today. Think I'll head over to Mimi's for their small bites shrimp, aspargus and strawberry salad dinner! YUM!

And don't forget the muffin.

We are completely lost not that we're not getting muffins with everything!

Oh so sorry......Yes, World Showcase is the back section of Epcot. It's literally a circle around a lake. There are many representations from around the world. i.e., I can go to France or London and have dinner there or just drink champagne.

The front end of Epcot has rides and amusements......especially talkin crush......he's my favorite! And John loves figment.....of your imagination......the purple dragon!

We'll take plenty of pictures and post them here so you can see.

This trip we're going to try to do Typhoon Lagoon.....never been there and we want to try it out.

It's very different from DL in that there are four totally separate and different parks......each one of them unique and cool. You HAVE to check it out. There's also two water parks and downtown disney and disneyquest and cirque de sole and Richard Petty driving experience and pleasure island which is all clubs and drinking. How could you miss it???:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Deb, sounds like you are getting excited about your trip :goodvibes I can hardly wait until later in Oct when it's my turn to go! I love Typhoon Lagoon, it's got the best wave pool ever!Unfortunately it goes into rehab just as we arrive.Figment is my daughter's very favourite character too. This is my 4th Oct trip, but the 1st one that I haven't booked a few of the special events. I haven't even booked one. Way too expensive and few that even interest me. Thankfully there's lots of free seminars to attend and I love the booths too!

back from looking at trip reports (nothing grabbed me this time)

Holly, chores really, not projects. Trying hard to remember the last time I vaccuuuuummmmmmmed. Have lots of mail to go through and a final batch of bills/statements to send of to the insurance guy regarding my car. I should probably clean my refrigerator...since it's EMPTY. Stuff like that.

Time to call in my pizza order and head on home, hope there is something good on the SCI FI channel...my favorite Friday night viewing spot.

Catch you all later.....

BTW, ONE YEAR TILL I SET SAIL FOR TORTOLA! oh...and some of my friends and family will be along too.

.

Woohoo :cool1: I can hardly wait for this cruise too! Of course, I keep reading about all the recent hurricanes :scared:

I guess they have been losing popularity over the last few years. Though on the Podcast they reported that Adventurer's Club will re-open somewhere else on property as it is still quite popular.

Lisa, I sure hope this is true! I love the AC. I could care less about the other clubs, although I do go to the Comedy Warehouse sometimes , but I love AC !

Wilson and I have a game of RISK loaded and we are waiting for Paul to get back (he ran out to get some dinner for us) it is hard to figure out this game. Anyone played it before?

We used to play the Risk board game all the time! Make sure you take Australia :)

Love the spice muffin, but it's that sweet raisin bread thingy that calls to me! :lmao:

Hmmmmm, how many times have I eaten at Mimi's in the last week....three I think, so if I go tonight that will be number four (two in CA two in AZ).

The Digging of the North-South West Eastwood Canal

Sukie and I left the house at about 9:30 this morning to go shopping.

It is pouring today, with flood warnings for areas near rivers (we are not near a river, but it was really pouring down).

There was water about 2 inches high outside our back door. It was coming in over the threshold.

It wasn't always like this. This started last spring.

The land under the El tracks gets very muddy when the weather is wet, so we decided to do something about it.

I had a truckload of sand/gravel mix delivered. We had hired Sukie's friend Corey (the infamous dog sitter) to spread it out.

He ended up doing nothing but whining, so Sukie told him to leave. Sukie then paid a guy wandering down the alley to spread it out.

He did a really good job considering that it was an enormous amount of labor. However, he left a "hump" towards the end next to the alley.

Now we have a convergence of issues.

To deal with the basement flooding, I had our downspout rerouted to not go into the catch-basin, but out along side our garage and to empty under the EL.

So --- what we started experiencing was that went there was a heavy rain, the water came off the roof, sloshed out under the El, hit the hump, then came back and collected behind the garage and along side the house.

The water was getting 2-inches or more deep.

Behind the house we were experiencing "Lake West Eastwood."

Sukie had the idea this morning, while we were standing in the garage, that we should dig a channel, from the the downspout, though the "West Eastwood Hump" and to the alley.

It was pouring down, and we were soaked, but there we were, him with a hoe, and me with a shovel, digging the West Eastwood Cut.

I took the spare dirt and gravel and started building an earthen dam outside our back gate, to prevent the water from rushing out of the downspout and then back towards the side of our house.

Many shovelfuls of gravel later, this was working. The dam was preventing the water from rushing back. However, Lake West Eastwood was filling rapidly.

At one point I considered whether we should build a resort on the edge of the lake and could we have water skiing.

Over an hour later, the channel was completed. Sukie with hoe in hand, and me with my shovel, made the last cut through the West Eastwood Hump.

Water started to flow out to the alley and towards the sewer.

Lake West Eastwood started to drain.

We were both completely soaked and our legs coated with mud. I had blisters on my hands from digging.

You have met us. Now picture us doing manual labor.

Sukie was an absolute mad man and kept shouting, "Dig deeper!"

I'm pleased to say that no human life was lost in the building of the West Eastwood Canal, and our marriage is still intact.

We finally left the house at 11:00 AM to do our shopping.

So much for my Saturday.

Ian, you are the best storyteller:thumbsup2
Here's my story:
Raining and raining. Basement is leaking. Called for help. Help came. $500.00 later, basement is dry ;) :lmao: :lmao:

I have another dilemma. In May I took steroids while on vacation so that I could be "normal" ...... the legs and my energy level. In June, my legs were a LOT worse......something about steroids not being very good for open wounds.

I'm going on vaca again. This time I think I should not take the steroids because I don't want my legs getting worse again. But I'm really going to have to pace myself on the trip. My energy level will be so low and I'll have very swollen feet and legs and I'll have to keep them out of the sun. I think it's best to deal with all of these issues because I can't take the risk.

Anybody else think this is a good idea?:confused3
Deb, you need to do whatever your doctor says is best to keep your legs in the best condition possible right now. We don't want you in the hospital again.

Babysitting was fine thanks. The girls just watched The X Factor as they watch that every week. Very easy!!

I'm so glad to hear your wounds are closed now Deb.

You said this trip would be more low key, so perhaps you can just take the parks easy and go back to the hotel for a break and put your feet up!!

Jan seems to like Gatorade for her energy boost, but it probably has sugar in it!!
I dehydrate so easily, I used to be a frequent Gatorade guzzler. BUT I just discovered something that works just as well and has no sugar and no calories. It's called Powerade Zero. There's a line on the top of the label that I just love, it says "ATTENTION! You are now in control of a zero calorie sports drink + B-vitamins. Be advised that you may be swarmed by fans who want to witness the power of electrolytes, hydration and zero calories. Good luck with that." :rotfl2: Cracks me up! But seriously, I've found it works just as well as Gatorade. :thumbsup2

Looks like you may have what you need already. Let me know if you want a specific price on a specific dress. :thumbsup2

Nan... I'd like a couture Carolina Herrera in a midnight blue...

Oh, and John just asked me how to spell Disney!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

and no... it isn't spelled with a z... tried that already...

Michelle, how is your sister and nephew this morning? I bet they're happy they were in Phoenix and not Clear Lake last night. It looks like they won't have electric for a while, but if that's the worst of it then they're doing ok.

They're ok... still in AZ... not sure what will happen later in the week....I've stopped cleaning... why should I sanitize if they won't be coming... regular cleaning works for the rest of us... ;)

Ah, those weekend Ian/Sukie adventures. I will stay tuned for the next installment!

.

Ahem... Miss Jackie... How come there haven't been any Ian/Sukie adventures from LAST weekend????????? We're waiting!!! :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

LOL!!! That was really really funny.

 Hi Miss Tammy!

.

Hi Tammy!!! Miss you!!!

Perfection is hard to compete with.
:snooty: :snooty: :snooty:

Oh yeah... :snooty: :snooty: :snooty: told mom next time I want to be born 3rd and not 4th...

Hi everyone,
We got a VERY late start, didn't get here until 1:30 a.m. and didn't get to sleep until 3:30! This is a beautiful place; the fog has just finished burning off and we're going down to lunch. Tonight we're going to the Improv, I think we're going to have spa appointments tomorrow. The best part, though, is having "sister time". Hope everyone is OK; Michelle is your family alright? Don't have time to read, just posting to say Hi!

Have a good time Cherie!!! Send postcards... bring back T-shirts... I take and EX L... :rotfl:

That ALMOST beats the .20 I lost at the track... Mom lost .40!!! We still laugh...:lmao:

Oh it's sooooooooo easy to procrastinate when you don't feel like doing something. At least I can do it during the week if I don't get to it tomorrow.

Enjoy your meal at Mimi's......it sounds very YUMMY!

I can't WAIT until I see my friend Mickey again. I LOVE that mouse!

We didn't book anything for the F&W either. There was only Sushi available on the night we wanted to go.....we don't do fish, much less uncooked and as John likes to call it, 'bait'.

We'll do World Showcase and the booths too.

Woohoo :cool1: I can hardly wait for this cruise too! Of course, I keep reading about all the recent hurricanes :scared:

Don't worry, Disney would not put you in harm's way.....if we're running from a storm, it could get a little rough.....take some meds and you'll be fine.

Hi Deb!!!!

Ok... now I know this is going to be hard to remember cause I do it too...

THIS IS A VACATION!!!!

I know you and John want to go and conquer WDW... and do EVERYTHING!!!... but you don't have to do it all in one day!!! Small bites.... lots of wonderful lovely breaks inbetween and definately plan some things that you can enjoy that won't take alot of running around, etc... You didn't mention where you are staying, but enjoy the resort!!!

& let John spoil you a little... (as if he doesn't already do that!!! )

I'm glad you all did too!!!:thumbsup2

Good weekend thank you. Quiet. Loads of washing today for some reason.:confused3 Plenty of hurricane watching too. Looks bad down there, but haven't heard much of fatalities/injuries etc as yet.

I don't think they will know what's what for a few days...

& I'm doing wash today too... :laundy:

Are you feeling more relaxed now Michelle?

A bit... I stayed up all night last night so I slept in late and then took a nap - haven't talked to the happy refugees today - I imagine they went to find something interesting to do... Brian was bored yesterday (code for worried out of his skin... )

Bedtime now so goodnight. Have a good evening. See you tomorrow.

Night Marilyn!!! See you later!!! :cloud9:

So me and John both talked to DD Sandi today in FL. She said that she has not even thought about us coming down because Joe has been sick. They found a non-malignant tumor on his colon that needs to be removed surgically along with part of his intestines. YUCK!

So we may not even see Sandi and Joe and the boys when we go down this time. I don't want to sound cruel, but both John and I don't care enough about Joe to visit him in a hospital during our vacation. If we see them at all it will only be Sandi and the boys for a quick visit. That's fine with us. We like them better anyway.

We'll see what happens when we get there and just leave it open for now.

do what you think is best for the two of you. Hope you get to see DD & the boys though... :grouphug:

And don't forget the muffin.

We are completely lost not that we're not getting muffins with everything!

OH THAT WAS SUCH A TEASE!!!! COME ON PEOPLE... DETAILS!!! YOU NEED TO WRITE A TRIPPIE JUST FOR US... WELL THOSE OF US WHO WEREN'T THERE FOR THE MUFFINS... :goodvibes

Ian, you are the best storyteller:thumbsup2

Kathe

Hi Kathe!!!!

That was the readers digest edition of a story... ;)

We were going to see my favorite cousin in FL too while we are there. But I was talking to his father yesterday, my favorite uncle that was recently in ICU, and he told me that my cousin is throwing up after he eats at every meal. He's undergoing testing to find out what it is so that it can get fixed.

I care about my cousin and I would definitely go see him in the hospital while on vacation. So we'll have to see when we get there with visiting him too.
Deb, I'm sorry to hear about your cousin and hope doctors can quickly figure out what's going on.
