Ok... now this was the MOST SURREAL thing tonight...

I'm here in the part of Houston where most of the Astronauts live...

Remember the Astronaut who took off to Florida and wanted to kidnap the girlfriend of the other Astronaut she was in love with???? Lisa Nowack???

She was sitting right behind me in church tonight... Her son was also confirmed...

Did ya get an autograph?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

This pathetic because I'm quoting myself but I have to ask a question. How much fun would an Alaskan cruise be for the kids? I can just imagine "Look kids, there is another animal" and "Isn't this beautiful, I know you can't swim like the other cruise but this is much more educational". :lmao: :lmao:

Molly says she would be happy if it is a DCL cruise, Wilson thinks Alaska would be cool to see. I think it depends on how you travel. We travel alot to see educational/historical stuff, so both of mine are happy with those experiences. We also throw in kid stuff so it's not all adult venues. This seems to make a happy family for us on both ends. Compromise ::yes::

:eek:SORRY !!

I just got up and realized that a post of last night was in very poor taste. Sorry I was so self focused, I did not realize.....

Now I'm the idiot :scared:

Jan

I got the joke too, just too lazy to laugh on line, but I laughed at home.

:lmao: Good :lmao: thing :lmao: you :lmao: told :lmao: them :lmao:

ya, easy to laugh about it all these years later....

I just read on Facebook, something from half of a couple who are really good friends of ours.

I think Michael is turning 50 this year (or maybe 49). His partner Tim gave him 4 days in Cairo, a 7 day cruise down the Nile, and 5 days in England as a birthday present.

Anyone else ever feel that way? (well not about the gay cruise part).

In some ways I sometimes feel out of touch with our friends because they seem to prefer to do things that are sort of, well more "mature."

Ian, I think it's great that you love Disney. I have to admit Paul and I have agreed this for us is a time of our lives venue. We will not likely travel to Disney spots when we are on our own again, but for now it's a good (compromise) there's that word again, for the kids and us to enjoy. But utilmately you are the one that has to be happy with what you do and where you go, so who cares what others are doing. I for sure wouldn't want to travel like some of my friends or family, like my sister and her scuba diving trips  , sorry Cheri :flower3: just not my thing. A spa and rum & coke that's my thing(s) ::yes::

My plan is working!!! (insert Nan's evil laugh here) :lmao:
Glad to oblige :rolleyes1

Long day at the beach for us today, headed to bed. Catch ya guys later.

I would leave him at home. I hate shopping with Jon and he makes me miserable the entire time because he doesn't want to be there.

Feel free to take Sukie shopping with you. He knows how to clear out a store.

Was it something I said? I come back here and everyone is gone? Is it time to go off to Slumberland?

I feel sorry for Marilyn and Deborah. They'll be waking up in a few hours to dozens of postings.

For a change it's 12:30 AM (Chicago time) and I'm still awake because I don't have to go to work on Tuesday!

I may be completely reckless and sleep in until 6:00 AM!

Hi Lori, Good to see you over here.

54 nights is just crazy and by crazy I mean really cool. How much laundry did you do ;)

Well, it wasn't all at once, but our theory is to do laundry every 9th day, so that we're not caught up in the 7 day rush.

Still out! Iraq is not on my list....

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I will give you Iraq try breaking down past Barstow in the middle of summer with two kids. O.k. minus the bombs.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao:

I can't say I'm familiar with Under the Tuscan Sun.

We did see the documentary about Rosies Big Fat Boat or whatever the Rosie O'Donnell thing was.

We had zero desire to go on one of her cruises. I'd have to hold myself back from administering radical slap therapy to some of the other passengers.

We've submitted our names to lecture on their cruises. Several of my comic friends were on that film. It looks like a nice group of parents and kids.

Yup Yup. But like many other things, they have been over harvested and poached so its nothing like it used to be. Also one of the last places in Calif you can drive on the sand at the beach.

I did not know that!

Hisselfenss and I went to an outdoor mall this afternoon, just to get out of the house.

So, he decides he wants to go to Abercrombie and look at clothing. I've tried to convince him that at his age he should start to consider wearing a nice polyester that can be easily sponged down, but he never listens to me.

I have a question ... since when did people who work in shops stop dressing like store clerks and start dressing like they hang out on the street? I wish they would stop it, because it confuses me.

Here we are looking at some stuff in Abercrombie when this young guy in a tee shirt, scruffy hair and flip-flops comes over and says, "Hey, how are you guys doing?"

I said to him, "Excuse me, do you work here, and are you trying to help us, or are you shopping here and trying to pick us up? In which case, aren't we a tad old for you?"

I told you, this casualness confuses me.

It turned out he was a store clerk. And, here I thought he wanted to be our pal. Since when to store clerks wear flip-flops and tee shirts?

Sukie was in rare form in the mall. I think he vaccinated himself this morning with a victrola needle. He would simply not shut up. Plus he was saying the most horrible things, and not using his inside voice.

At one point I stopped dead and I said, "If you don't settle down and behave yourself this instant I'm taking you back to the car!"

He wanted to know if he was annoying me. I told him that he has sailed past annoying 40 minutes earlier and well on way to euthanasia.

I think he is all keyed up over the upcoming vacation. He suddenly started asking questions, such as, "Where is Disneyland?"

It was just another Labor Day out with the folks.

.

LMAO

I bet it will be only SO CAL that gets the discount. Too many people for them to give all cal rates. Similiar to the so cal Annual Pass.

That never occured to me. My SD friends think it will be a couple of years before they offer deals.

How did I know there would be a mountain of posts once I went to bed!!! :rotfl2:

Gaylean - sorry but I did skim read!! You all had a good chat I know.

I wish I'd met you because I just don't believe that! :lmao:

Yes, I was quite surprised how shy Gaylean was. But, what an absolutely lovely girl!

You don't go sunbathing on the moors?

Erm, no!!! The moors are beautiful though!!

I wonder if I could manage the 85 night world cruise?

A tad too long for me, especially on a Cunard cruise being much more formal. I might be persuaded to do one on a DCL ship though.:lmao:

That would be crazy. I didn't want to get off the ship after 15 but I can't imagine 85. Plus I'd have to go by myself because Jon could never get that much time off.

That is why it will be full of retired people!!:rotfl:

Ah, the old Tink!!! pirate: ye be!

:lmao: :lmao: Your trips to the mall are always entertaining.:rotfl2:

V & Bubba - beautiful pics....no fishing for me...my idea of camping (or outside living) is a 2 star hotel.

Me too these days.:)

This is the litho that the EBers got. It's nice, but I like ours better, at least for me (NotSoLittleMermaid).

ducky.jpg

That is quite nice. I didn't realise theirs would be different(apart from dates etc). Boys might like that one. But, no point as it isn't our cruise. A collector might like it.

I'm coming to the thing on Saturday but I'm not sure about Thursday because if my fingerprinting comes back before then I will start working. So I will see you for sure on Saturday.

I was going to ask about your job Gaylean.

Ok... I'm off for the night...

Have a good one...

HI MARILYN!!! & DEBORAH!!! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Good night Michelle.

Feel free to take Sukie shopping with you. He knows how to clear out a store.

This is how it used to be many mornings before the cruise Ian. Always took me far too long to catch up and I hate not at least trying to read everything.

Hope you get a sleep in, but I bet you are beginning to think more about your trip and can't sleep.

I know I am but you have to do it because it isn't the kids fault they are here. It is yours and his and mine and every other parent. It's all about the kids now. That is why I really respect people that know they can't do and don't.
I know, that's what makes me so frustrated with him.

Shaelyn is excited for school to start tomorrow. Its only a half day and they really do nothing except figure out how many kids there are. It'll be Thursday before her class and teacher are figured out. Last year I sent her on the first day with all her school supplies and she had to haul them back home  and then haul them back to school on day 2  so this year she takes nothing but her snack! :thumbsup2 She has a new shirt to wear and is all wired up for day 1. :)

Holly, Shaelyn needs different school supplies than Tyler. No ziploc bags or sanitizing wipes, just kleenex and the traditional supplies: binder, notebooks, pencils, felts, pencil crayons, crayons, scissors, erasers and pencil sharpener.

Good night folks!:cloud9:
I was quite surprised that we didn't have to buy all that stuff as well. I know my mom had to for me when I was a kid.

Happy Birthday, Woody!

:dance3:
:dance3: :dance3:
:bday: :bday:
party: party: party: party:
(Yup, I've resorted to stealing just like Nan!)

I hope Ken is firing up the camera to capture the big event!!:thumbsup2
Oh, I guess I should find my camera too. I guess I never thought of taking pics the first day beyond K! I think I would have felt sad if I didn't this time too! Fortunately, Tyler's finally excited. Up until last night, he did NOT want to go to first grade because he's embarrassed by not being able to read and write like the other kids. But his new teacher did assure him it's OK because of the extra help he'll be getting every day in special ed, so maybe that finally sunk in. He woke up this morning super excited, so all is good! :thumbsup2

Good morning all!

I managed to sleep until about 7:00 AM.

Today is packing day. Not that there's all that much to pack. We're only gone for 6 days, but there all the gear we're wearing on the wedding day, so unfortunately we have to take the rolling garment bag, for the dress stuff, plus our normal clothing.

I think we might be going to Napa Rose for dinner on the wedding day. I made and ADR at any rate. In which case we have to pack some nice pants (trousers for our UK friends).

Not sure Sukie is very keen to go to Napa Rose. I asked him, which would he prefer, a nice dinner at Napa Rose or french fries and a ride on Dumbo. He chose the fries and Dumbo.

Pity. We only get to wear our wedding day stuff once. I understand that the sceret celebration is extremely casual.

Here I was looking forward to bow ties again.

Now that I know how to tie a bow tie, on the next cruise, we will be wearing real bow ties and not the clip on ones. A real one looks so much better.

I might even take to wearing bow ties now, when I do need a tie.

So, on our next cruise (Tortola) I'll give bow tie lessons.

You could wear your wedding gear for a ride on Dumbo! :)

We look forward to bow tie lessons next year.

Don't tell me John doesn't know how to tie a bow tie. I'm going to lose faith in British civilization.

Doesn't he have to wear one when he takes you to formal dinners at the officiers' mess?

Oh, sorry ... that wasn't the two of you ... that was a BBC costume drama I fell asleep watching.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: They stopped teaching the art of bow tie fastening a few years before John started school!!

When he was 'Father of the Bride/Groom' 3 times they had cravats and the last time he had a problem with that!!!
