Holly...

You REALLY need to find "Island at the Top of the World".. Ask Sukie....he was HIGHLY impressed!!! (they showed it up on the Ariel screen one night and I made :rolleyes1 them come and watch it with me... I hear it's on DVD... right Ian???
Okee dokee! Never heard of it, but I'll try to remember to look for it next time. :thumbsup2

Well, apparently my earlier threat of buying a new computer has persuaded mine to work. I swear, I have the goofiest computer around.

Nan - I think things always work out for the best, but I am so sorry that you are going to blow your opportunity to be on the cover of "Negligent Mother Magazine." :rotfl2:

Seriously, it's great that you can be at the school event.

Besides, a little birdie in upstate NY told me that you had arranged for pony rides at our celebration dinner in the parking lot of Dunkin' Donuts.

What a gal! What a pal!
.

It was donkey baseball and it was take out from Dominos!!!!

hope all is well with everyone. I am trying to download pics but something seems wrong with the camera.

It's been a crazy couple of weeks. We had a RIF at work and now we have mandatory PTO days this and next Friday. We made it through the storm butit was a nerve wracking all the waiting. Of course we closed the office and schools were closed yesterday and really didn't need to be.

Samantha loves school....she got hit on the first day - her seatmate, leans over and says, hey I am Bernie, what's your name --- and he reminded me so much of one our frineds who is a big player....it was funny. hopefully if my camera cooperates I can post her pics.

Glad to see you checking in...I think I had it worse than you did this time around. Still raining on & off.

Glad Samantha is enjoying school so far....must say that when I read "she got hit on the first day"....I read that she got HIT, on the 1st day. Nothing like reading too fast :lmao:

We love rain so hopefully that's all this turns out to be. I think we both feel a little out of sorts though as we no idea what to expect - we've been through earthquakes, tornados and blizzards but never a hurricane.

Did you get a lot of rain?

And we're still planning to go to AK this weekend - probably Saturday.

Definately got a lot of rain....still raining on & off as Fay doesn't seem to want to move. Last I heard (about 7am today) we're still supposed to be dealing w/ some rain Saturday too...hopefully not too bad for you.

Hurricanes are tough to figure out as they have a mind of their own, but good thing about these storms is that we find out about them early, so can plan.

I thought so too, now I get it. like picked up, duh???? V tell her there is plenty of time for boys for now she needs to study :rolleyes1

we are good driving down for the weekend, but I just couldn't afford the extra, flight and hotel for the "event" :sad1: I'm sad I really wish I could be one of those witnesses, but I'll be there in spirit that day and for sure on Saturday for whatever the party is    Kelly, we gotta get that finalized and out to the guests :dance3:

Don't worry, we are not going to spare any expense. There will be a live Etch-A-Sketch broadcast of the entire ceremony.

I noticed on Mrs Bennet that it is only 15 days away! :scared1: Crap! We'd better learn this weekend how to tie the ties I bought.

I told Sukie the number of days and he snapped at me. He hasn't written his column yet for while we are away. He always panics like this before a trip about his columns.

I think this time the columns are just a smoke screen. I think he's having second thoughts.

Time does fly, doesn't it? Amazing that it's just around the corner.

Yes, it seems like only yesterday, we paid a grand to spend the night in a Quality Inn in Windsor and eat cold pizza.

I'm ok. I got an email from Molly's last teacher telling me the name of the teacher to avoid like the plague and yep, Molly got her for this year. So, I'm trying to figure out my tact to get her changed. Since this is a new principal I don't have a personal connection and I'm concerned about making my concerns known and not getting her changed. I was told that this teacher uses classroom ridicule in her teaching practices. Hence the worry. This will surely not work well for Molly. I did also find out that she is top of the list for testing, so I can only hope that she fails the tests this year and qualifies for an IEP. I can't imagine going on many more years with her hand writing problems not being accepted as a problem that she can get some extra time or help for. lordie lordie it never ends when you've got kids.

how are you doing? are you stuck at home because of the weather?

this weekend is wilson's do-over 8 1/2 birthday race. Most of my family is coming, mom, aunt and cousins. He is looking forward to it. I hope he drives like the wind....

I had such a teacher in the 4th grade and the entire year was a nightmare for me.

Furthermore, if you can't change teachers and this teacher even dares to ridicule Molly, you can tell the teacher that if she wants ridicule, there are two pissy gay men who will fly in from Chicago, and provide her with some personal ridicule she will never forget.

(We have been to enough gay cocktail parties that we are fighting fit and street tough. She'll feel like she's been hit by a truckload of Vogue magazines.)

How many different classes are there? Does Molly's last teacher have any clout with the principal that she'd be willing to use? Will keep Molly in my thoughts & prayers....when does she start school?

Lisa has had many "discussions" with Ian's teachers (the last 2 years atleast) as they don't seem to want to follow his IEP. Hopefully this year will be easier on them both.

I'm staying dry...this wasn't too big of a deal (thank goodness). Lawn is happy w/ all the rain :rotfl: This weather doesn't make me want to leave the house though (not that I want to leave the house on sunny days).

Make sure you take pics this weekend - then post them....I'm sure it will be great.
