I'm having gin and tonic again. Jon has me hooked. We have a few wine clubs to pick up so I refuse to BUY wine until we get what we've already paid for. We were thinking of watching The Secret. Has anyone seen it? It's about a mom and daughter that get into a car accident and the mom dies and the daughter comes back as the mom :confused3
Haven't seen it. Haven't even heard of it. Sounds too confusing for me! But let us know how it is! I had a 49cent rental to use, and a free one, so I rented "Bonneville", something about 3 women driving together across the country to stop one of their daughters from marrying some jerk I think, and "Miss Conception", something about a woman in her 30s going through early menopause, so she's trying to quickly find a man she thinks is good enough to have a baby with. Sounds funny, in a strange way! I only got it because of the 30s & early menopause! :rotfl:

Occasionally??? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Ian's idea of sacks and bonnets are sounding pretty good to me. I already have bought stocks in Louisville sluggers. To quote Clint Eastwood in "Pale Rider" - "Nothing like a good piece of hickory".

I have never owned a gun in my life . . . but in the next few years I may consider a purchase of a rifle . . . so that when Sophia brings some boy home I can be casually cleaning it.

The problem we dads have is that we were once boys, and we know how boy's minds work, and how they think.

Ian,

As a father of an eight year old daughter, it is something that really bothers me too . . . I guess kids have always wanted to grow up sooner, and we adults always want to go back to childhood.

What makes me crazy with Sophia is that her aunt buys her this stuff . . . makeup, lip gloss, eye shadow, etc. I told her last time she did this that Sophia looked like a streetwalker!

I am no prude either - I just wish we could let kids be kids longer - but media has put the pressure on kids and families to "keep up".

It is fine for little girls to play dress-up, and pretend, but when it becomes an every day thing in dress and appearance I think it is wrong. What is the right age? I don't know . . .

I just know that it is tons harder to be the father of a little girl than it was to be the father of a boy.

Its a strange world out there:confused3 I admit Shaelyn (DD6) has clear lipgloss and some perfume, that she will wear occasionally. I do let her wear makeup to football games, but its extreme (more like facepainting) and is part of dressing up for football. I also will let the girls wear light nailpolish occasionally as a treat. I like letting them consider doing that a "treat" and "special occasion" thing, its not an everyday thing and shouldn't be.:)

I've been having bad headaches lately and a good drink seems to help. Probably tension because I'm not sure if I have a job anymore
When I'm having headaches, I CAN'T drink because it makes it worse for me. I haven't had one since July 30, so I figure I can safely drink tonight without triggering one, at least I hope. :thumbsup2

When will you know for sure about your job?

Nan, I thought every time I saw Molly on the ship it was refreshing . . . a young lady still being a kid - I thought she was perfect, and always looked perfectly happy.

I agree and we took her to dinner and she treated Brooke, 6, like they were the same age.

I've never heard of it :confused3 who's in it?

Am I remembering correctly? Is this because your boss's wife had a baby and now she might take over your job?

It seems kind of sick, a little, because she looks like the daughter but after she convinces the dad that she is the mom, they get intimate

This reminds me. Brooke's feet are too big for the dress up high heels :sad1:

They make those high heeled dress up shoes too small! they only fit when they're 1-2 and can't properly balance on them  ( or maybe my kids just have big feet!)

Poor Brooke, Jon is the same way. Now Ethan may have a cheering section!

Where are we going and what is a mudshake?

We're going somewhere in 2010, destination to be determined!
Its a delicious creamy:thumbsup2 , chocolatey:thumbsup2 , vodka beverage sold by the bottle like a cooler:thumbsup2 . They also make a banana one that is fantastic but harder to find :(

That kind of stuff doesn't bother me Shannon - even the nail polish is OK and no big deal. But the eye shadow, mascarra, lipstick (instead of gloss), high heels, short skirts, and belly shirts! Ughhhhhh!

Brooke's toe nails are painted all the time. I admit that I have taken her for a pedicure twice :rolleyes1 She likes for me to put her eyelashes up which means to curl them. She is a girlie girl but she doesn't like to show skin, yet

When will you know for sure about your job?

Who knows. He just had a baby. I told him the kids start school on the 25th and he said "We are adjusting to life with Henry". So what does that mean. I'll get a job at the school if I have to but the pay won't be as good and the schedule won't be as flexible.

Your headaches were migraines. Mine seem to be tension, starting from my neck and all the way to the top of my head.

You sound just like Ken. I was quite naive as a teenager, but he was much more mature - it'll be his job to anticipate anything our girls will get into!

Oh, I was wrong. The movie Bonneville is the 3 women traveling cross country because one woman's husband died and they're headed to take some of his ashes to the daughter I think.

I was confusing that with 3 Days to Vegas where a group of grumpy men rush to Vegas to stop one of the sons from getting married. That one sounded good! I'll probably rent it next time.

Did you read my post about that? Disney frames, plus transitions lenses, added together equals Disney Magic! Way cool! He should have them in another week. :thumbsup2

YES! I LOVE that you found them.....how appropriate!
