Not sure if anybody here knows that I studied to be a pastry chef and had wanted to have my own cake studio?

What a cute picture! I was talking about you today, were your ears burning? My mom mentioned taking Tyler to Chicago for the day sometime, because it's only about 2 hours from Kalamazoo. She drives to Michigan City and takes a commuter train into Chicago. She's thinking of us joining her for a day trip soon. I told her, "OH! We'll have to see if we can meet up with Ian & Sukie!"

But I did tell them it was after 5 ports and well... what do they expect... bring surgical masks if you're THAT afraid... or better yet... go on Carnival where you probably will get sick...

Parents in Indiana think that Michigan is setting a good example and they would love to have Indiana follow suit!

Summer is so short and vacation plans often conflict with school.

It is camo yarn, two strands and a size Q (who knew they came so big?) crochet hook. The pattern is just single crochet. Then a back crochet border. If anyone wants more detail, let me know.

The hardest part was when the color swatches from each of the two skeins of yarn did not line up as the look was BAD when there were two colors in any one place, so I made some extra loops on the hook to mesh them in.

Jan, I finally remembered to show Tyler the picture of your camo blanket. He says it's really cool and he hopes Santa can make one for him. I told him I'm pretty sure Santa doesn't crochet! He laughed at that.

You are talking about the OLD Tyler. We are beginning to see the NEW Tyler. A benefit of the medicine just might be less of the OCD so that he CAN give stuff away.

I like the idea that it is going to some specific children not a dumpster. Could you find out if there is a family who had a loss due to natural disaster who needs toys so it is sharing with someone in particular not just a donation to Good Will?

Good luck with this. I wish we had done this when our boys were little!

I never give to Goodwill, I like to just GIVE stuff to people who need it. I search the postings on freecycle.com (can't remember what the new name is) for people saying they had some sort of loss like you mentioned who needs things we have. There was one little boy, a bit younger than Tyler, who's parents were horribly abusive, so his grandma was awarded full custody, and he had absolutely nothing. Clothes that were 2 sizes too small and only 3 or 4 toys, and the grandma was trying to collect things to have for him because he moved in really quickly. We gave her boxes and boxes of stuff, I explained to Tyler that his parents just weren't taking care of him the way parents should and that the grandma wants to take care of him and have nice things for him, so he happily went through all of his stuff and kept asking me for more boxes to fill. I need to find somebody like that again.....which will be easy to do, there are so many families in need. I also can ask at church if they know of any family who needs things.

She says he was perfectly well behaved, didn't get bored being dragged around with her, and didn't get grumpy when he got tired (she kept him out until almost 11pm).

OK, so as you can see, I'm back. Had a great time at the reunion, stayed out until 2:30am, didn't get to sleep until 4am because of talking with my friend Debbi who also stayed at my mom's after the reunion. I have pictures to share later. Tyler woke us all up, jabbering away like crazy, about 8:30am, so we started our day, it took us so long to get moving, he had breakfast twice! Then we went to lunch with my mom before heading out of town to come back home. Got home around 3pm and I just barely managed to stagger into the house and put a movie in for Tyler to watch while I dozed next to him on the couch for about an hour. Dying to get to sleep tonight!


Got to run to the store for milk, then we'll both be going to bed early, but after Tyler's in bed I'll share pictures. Not that you know any of those people, but I just want to anyway because it was fun!

Oh....and Jan, I loved all the twinkie cake pictures! I think I need to grab some twinkies while we're at the store too!

(And no, I did not run down the street wearing high button shoes and playing with a stick and hoop on my way to buying penny candy and the local sweet shoppe.)

You know what? I STILL didn't mow! I was too worn out after last night. So I left a note on my neighbor's kitchen table asking if her son would mow for me as soon as he has a chance and I'd pay him a bit extra for not giving him much notice and for the pain of mowing grass so long. And I told him he can use my mower to save the gas in his dad's mower. The just got home this evening from being gone 10 days, so hopefully he can do it tomorrow while I'm at work. His mom told me he doesn't mind the bees/wasps and would have fun spraying them like I was.

I'm back on the grid finally!! 2 weeks with no internet access was painful!

Of course not as painful as the delivery of our "household goods" (as the government likes to refer to our stuff) was yesterday.

They packed and moved everything. Our living room tv stand got pancaked! As did one of our standing floor lamps. The matching lamp is MIA as is a box of DVDs and a plastic storage tub. What should have been a four hour delivery turned into 8 as the people on the CA end did not match the inventory sheet up to the item numbers correctly. We were shocked when they showed up with a roll of number stickers and had to write everything down.

When we moved 6 years ago that company used bar codes and scanner likeyou use at Target for the gift registry. They then scanned all the boxes again when they came off the truck. There were like 2 that got missed and took 15 minutes to find. These guys all said they never heard of such new fangled devices.

Our new apartment is great and once we unpack everything it will be better.

We are off to WDW tomorrow to buy our FL Res Premium APs. 3rd day in Florida we went and got our FL licenses so we are good to go!
